Portmagee & Valentia Island on the Beautiful Iveragh peninsula - July 2019
We had a beautiful day here in County Kerry,Ireland so we decided to go for a drive to the Iveragh Peninsula and visit the stunning locations of Portmagee and Valentia Island (One of the most westerly points of Europe) Their is so much to see here and the scenery is so spectacular with beautiful cliff walks and boat trips. The most famous of all is a boat trip to the Skellig rock. Skellig Michael is known throughout the world of archaeology as the site of a well-preserved monastic outpost of the Early Christian period – now designated a UNESCO World Heritage site and of course in recent times a location for Star Wars in two of its movies. My video only barely scrape the surface of this magnificent location that one would have to visit the Iveragh Peninsula in person to appreciate it's true beauty.

Star Wars Island - Skellig Michael | Portmagee Ireland
Star Wars Island - Skellig Michael | Portmagee Ireland; I've come to Skellig Michael, the island used in Star Wars. Filmed in Ireland, scenes from Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Star Wars: The Last Jedi were filmed on the Star Wars Island, Skellig Michael. From the village of Portmagee Ireland, I've chartered a boat to Skellig Michael, one of the top places to visit in the world. (#KrushworthInIreland).
On this episode of #TravelingWithKrushworth, enjoy visiting UNESCO site Skellig Michael Ireland. Begin at Portmagee Ireland off the Ring of Kerry and charter a boat to Skellig Michael Island, known for its historic monastery. Climb the 600 stone steps to the top of the island and the historic monastery.

Portmagee
visit
In this post today we are going to highlight Portmagee. However first I am going to speak a little about Kerry Cliffs itself here in Portmagee. The Cliffs Itself is fast becoming one of the top walk way attractions in county Kerry. The cliffs are very family friendly, as there is a fence all around the walk way, to ensure your safety and the safety of your family.
Kerry cliffs is located about 2 km from Portmagee and it has been a tourist attraction with about five years, and it is a must when you visit Portmagee. You have some spectacular views on the cliffs a 360 view of the Iveragh peninsula and you see the Skellig Rocks the Puffin Island. Please feel free to browse through our site and you will see our videos which will highlight to you the sheer beauty of the cliffs.
Portmagee Village
Now let me speak about the village of Portmagee Itself for a little while. Portmagee is a beautiful fishing village located on the shores of Valentia harbour and of course it is the gateway to the amazing Skelligs rocks. Portmagee was awarded top tourist town in Ireland in 2012 which adds real credibilty to this particular location. Boats depart Portmagee daily from the village to the great rocks the season for visiting the Skelligs spans from April to September.
As you can imagine Portmagee is a hive of activity during the Skellig season with thousands of people descending on the village hoping to get out to see the amazing rocks. There are about 14 boats that go to the Skellig each day with one company who go around the rock and do not land. This service is ideal for anybody with a young family or unable to climb for whatever the reason. This service is also fantastic to you the holiday maker who is under a time constraint as you get to see the rock in this 2.5 hour cruise.
Portmagee has some fantastic accommodation and bars and cafes and restaurants and it really has it all for you and your family. It is for this reason that it was awarded the top tourist town in Ireland in 2012 a lofty achievement indeed.
I hope you have enjoyed my presentation today in the video above where I highlighted what we have to offer in the Kerry Cliffs and as you can see from the presentation we are very conscious of safety and providing a family friendly environment for you and your family enjoy the breathtaking views we have here on the cliffs in Portmagee.
Also in the video presentation I highlighted the breathtaking views of the cliffs and the wonderful places you see from the top like the Skelligs rocks, the Puffin Island, Valentia ,west Kerry ,Iveragh, just to mention a few.
So that’s it from me today guys please feel free to comment on our post today and feel free to subscribe to us on YouTube and follow us on twitter and facebook. So thank you for visiting our website guys and I hope to see you in person soon here on the Kerry cliffs Portmagee.

Skelligs / Valentia Island, Ireland
