Today we hired a local fisherman from the oldest village in Bali to take us to their Island where they bury their dead above ground. I Found A Dead Body along with about 100 human skulls. Its was incredible.

Dating to the 1930s, this Castle Films newsreel travelogue showcases Bali, Indonesia. The film includes shots of native customs, including market day, farming, and women -- topless and unashamed -- carrying large burdens on their heads. Betel nuts are shown being sold, cockfights are shown (3:30 mark), as well as native handicrafts including pottery. Religious ceremonies are shown at the 5:50 mark, and dancing and play acting at the 7 minute mark.

Bali is an island and province of Indonesia. The province includes the island of Bali and a few smaller neighbouring islands, notably Nusa Penida, Nusa Lembongan, and Nusa Ceningan. It is located at the westernmost end of the Lesser Sunda Islands, between Java to the west and Lombok to the east. Its capital of Denpasar is located at the southern part of the island.

With a population of 3,890,757 in the 2010 census, and currently 4,225,000 as of January 2014,[5] the island is home to most of Indonesia's Hindu minority. According to the 2010 Census, 83.5% of Bali's population adhered to Balinese Hinduism] 13.4% to Islam, 2.5% Christianity and 0.5% to Buddhism .

Bali is a popular tourist destination and is renowned for its highly developed arts, including traditional and modern dance, sculpture, painting, leather, metalworking, and music. The Indonesian International Film Festival is held every year in Bali. Since the late 20th century, the province has had a rise in tourism.

Bali is part of the Coral Triangle, the area with the highest biodiversity of marine species. In this area alone over 500 reef building coral species can be found. For comparison, this is about 7 times as many as in the entire Caribbean.[7] There is a wide range of dive sites with high quality reefs, all with their own specific attractions.[8] Many sites can have strong currents and swell, so diving without a knowledgeable guide is inadvisable. Most recently, Bali was the host of the 2011 ASEAN Summit, 2013 APEC and Miss World 2013.

Densus 88 to coordinate with Philippines on arrested Indonesian terrorists

Representatives of the National Police’s Densus 88 counterterrorism squad are set to depart for the Philippines on Tuesday to coordinate with their counterparts at the Philippine National Police over Indonesians arrested for their alleged involvement with a Maute terrorist group in Marawi.

“We will see how far and what their roles are in the terrorist activities in Marawi,” National Police spokesperson Insp. Gen. Setyo Wasisto told journalists on Monday.

Last Wednesday, an Indonesian citizen, identified as Muhammad Ilham Syahputra, 22, from North Sumatra, was arrested by members of the Barangay Peacekeeping Action Team in Loksadatu in Marawi. He was accused of having become a member of the Maute terrorist group.

On Sunday, the Philippine National Police arrested seven other Indonesian citizens in Iligan City, the Philippines. They were believed to be Omarkhayam Maute’s wife and their six children.

Omarkhayam is one of Maute’s leaders. On Oct. 16, Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte announced that Omarkhayam and fellow Maute leader, Hapilon, were killed in a shootout in Marawi.

His wife, identified as Minhati Madrais, and their six children -- four girls and two boys -- have been detained and are being questioned at the Iligan City police station in the Philippines.

Setyo said it was hard to know how many Indonesians lived in Marawi because most of them had gone there illegally to join militant groups in the city. “Even if they go there legally, they will not say that

OVERVIEW: OVERVIEW: AUSTRALIAN 'HANDCUFFED, BASHED AND ROBBED BY BALI NIGHTCLUB SECURITY'.

An Australian man holidaying with his pregnant fiance is lucky to be alive after a brutal bashing by security guards at Bali’s infamous Sky Garden nightclub in Kuta.

The seemingly unwarranted attack happened around 1 am Saturday 2nd April and is believed to have stemmed from a confrontation with a local pickpocket operating within the club. It’s alleged several security guards gang-bashed a Perth man, knocking him to the ground where he was handcuffed then kicked repeatedly in the head, before taking his mobile phone then dumping him on the street.

The 33 year old underwent emergency surgery in Bali having a steel plate inserted in his skull, and plastic surgery on his nose. A deep gouge in his eyebrow also required stitches.

The incident has been reported to Bali police, with police sources saying unwarranted attacks on tourists by Sky Garden security guards are a regular occurrence, with several having been previously arrested over similar attacks.

The club’s security is provided by Indonesian gang members.

Local authorities (Bendesa Desa Adat Kuta) have previously issued a final warning to the notoriously violent club that they face closure if the bloodshed continues.

The club featured in the 2013 Channel Nine special ‘Bali: The Dark Side of Paradise’. During that special, Sky Garden’s former Australian security chief named only as John, claimed he fled Bali after being threatened by gang members who put a gun to his head in the club because he had started sacking security guards who were drugging and robbing patrons. at 17min 30 sec.

The Sky Garden club is the biggest and most popular club in the Kuta Beach area.

The man has now returned to Australia after being given the all-clear by doctors.

Police investigations are continuing.

BALI'S HIDDEN GEMS - SECRET WATERFALL

Traveling with locals is always the best way to travel. In this case we were lucky to see the much less touristy side of Bali. Having our own private waterfall, watching the sunrise over Mt. Batur, this was a great day.
