The Caribbean Island of St. Martin has a very unique beach called Maho Beach, otherwise known as Airplane Beach because it sits right next to Princess Julianna Airport. We stood directly below massive planes as they were landing and experienced the strong jet blast blowing everyone over as the planes took off the runway! Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married June 2013 and quickly caught the travel bug! We started “travel hacking” & finally decided we wanted to travel for one year. After 2 years of saving $ and over 2 million miles and points, we sold our cars and apartment and left home January 10, 2016. We started this YouTube channel to share our experiences with friends and family, then decided we really liked vlogging and traveling! So we extended our 1 year trip to now FOUR years :) Now we have a goal of traveling to 100 countries before 2020! We are incredibly thankful to do something we love every day. :)

AMAZING TAKE OFF - KLM BOEING 747 at SINT MAARTEN AIRPORT - Low Landing above Maho Beach

Spectacular take off of this Boeing 747 of KLM at Sint Maarten. Till todays this is still one of the most iconic B747 clips I have ever filmed. The B747 of KLM departing from paradise airport SXM while we were standing on the mountain right behind the runway. The 747 had to turn to the right after takeoff because of the terrain. Too sad we won` t be able to see the Boeing 747 at Maho Beach anymore because KLM downgraded the flights to an Airbus A330-200 and right now even Air France doesn` t operate the A340 anymore to SXM. The biggest plane which currently operates at SXM is the A330. It` s time for an EK Airbus A380 connection between SXM and DXB.

FLYING DUTCHMAN ST MAARTEN! Video'd in 4K

This was a awesome Zip Line! So much fun to fly down at 50 mph. The steepest zip line in the world. 1050 feet in elevation over 2800 ft. down range. This was video'd in 4K with a Sony FDR AX 100 and EC1 steady cam . If you have a big screen tv the video is awesome in 4k Enjoy!

BOEING 747 low LANDING above THE BEACH - St Maarten and Maho Beach (4K)

Boeing 747 low landings at St Maarten - Those were the days. KLM used to operate at least three weekly Boeing 747 flights from Amsterdam to St Maarten and sadly they stopped operating these flights cause the Airbus A330-200 is much more efficient on this particular route. It was a very sad moment for all aviation enthusiasts around the world when KLM officially announced the end of the Boeing 747 operations at Saint Maarten. Another Boeing 747 operator which frequently passed Maho Beach used to be Corsair but they also replaced the Boeing 747 with an Airbus A330-200 in their Orly flights. Currently even Air France reduced the flights for Paris from an Airbus A340 to an Airbus A330.

Doesn` t change the fact that Maho Beach is on of the most amazing beaches in the world if you are interested in aviation. It` s definitly the biggest tourist attraction on the island and I am pretty sure we will return to this beautiful island one day.

Allure of the Seas Day 4 Vlog: St. Maarten/St. Martin (Pic Paradis, Friar's Bay, Maho)

Well we are at the halfway mark. I will be writing a follow up post about this on the blog once I finish the new design. Renting a jeep for the day and going up to Pic Paradis was the highlight of this trip. The video doesn't even do the view justice!
