While at Skydive Arizona doing video for another group, we were fortunate enough to watch these guys in training. They had come down from the Air Force Academy in Colorado. Absolutely awesome to see the speed and the agility. Good job guys!!!!

During the 2019 USPA National Skydiving Championships Arizona X-Force came in second in the 4-Way VFS Open event. The vertical formation skydiving event completed all 10 scheduled rounds, with four teams in each of the open and advanced divisions. One team, “Why Not”, competed in the intermediate devision.
X-Force — now in its second year with the current line-up — scored a 16.3 points average, a lower score than last year, however flying at a faster pace - 18.9. The team used this years USPA Nationals as a training camp leading up to the World Cup which will take place in the first week of next month in Eloy, AZ. The team plans to peak next month, having a better understanding of what the judges will be looking for and enforcing.
X-Force did walk away from this years Nationals with a new personal best, a highest scoring round of 24 points in round 9. This round got busted down from a 33.
SDC Core once again took the gold medal and Arizona Anthem took bronze. To view all scores and competition videos, check out Omniskore.

My first attempt at Indoor Skydiving @ SkyVenture Arizona with its state-of-the-art skydiving wind tunnel, located in Eloy
Casa Grande, AZ to Eloy, AZ
No lunch at Casa Grande, so a short trip to Eloy, AZ and there was lunch waiting at the Bent Propeller. The afternoon of arrival there parachute operations underway - an Otter was taking off every 7 or so minutes carrying 23 sky divers. Skydive Arizona is apparently the Skydiving resort of the world. In talking with the jump school apparently they get a lot of GA that fly through the airspace unaware of the parachute activity (even though it is well highlighted on the sectional, ATC is broadcasting and the CTAF is broadcasting. In any event, remaining southwest of the airport is the key. On the turn to base/final you can see the jump landing zone - it is the big great lawn area. If you look at 9:38 the parachuters are landing at 12:00 to the left of the runway. If you look all the way to the left, at the 60kts level, there is a small building (which isn't all that small) - that is the facilities wind tunnel - apparently you can sky dive there without having to jump out of a plane.

We offer professional freefall photography services for your first jump and for training purposes. Your camera flyer will jump out of the plane with you, video and still cameras on his/her helmet, following you throughout freefall.

What is the Accelerated Free Fall (AFF) Program?
The AFF course is the unsurpassed method of training if you are interested in jumping with your own equipment and ultimately becoming a licensed skydiver. The AFF course is the most advanced skydiving training course offered and is endorsed by the United States Parachute Association (USPA).
On your first AFF Level, you will receive 4-6 hours of ground training, followed by the jump utilizing your own equipment and jumping with two USPA certified instructors. Under normal conditions, you will jump the same day as you complete the ground training.
The AFF Course/Program is structured in a two-phase training progression program. Phase I consists of eight jumps, where you will be jumping with an instructor on each level. Each one of the eight jumps is regarded to as learning categories (modules). Each category features a performance objective that must be accomplished prior to advancing to the next level. Completing Phase I qualifies you to make solo skydives under the supervision of an AFF qualified Instructor. At this point, you will be allowed to skydive on your own as you will now be on Student Solo Status.
What you can expect on your first jump
After reaching the desired altitude (12,500'a.g.l.), it is time to free-fall with your two instructors who will grasp your harness on each side. Upon exiting the aircraft, you will quickly accelerate to over 120 miles per hour for up to 60 seconds in free fall! You will then pull the deployment handle (ripcord) and enjoy a breath taking five minute flight under your own parachute. Yes, these parachutes truly fly and you get to steer your parachute during your descent. We will help you guide your parachute via radio communication and control commands for a safe landing. After the skydive, you will be critiqued and given a First Jump Certificate and a skydiving logbook. As you pass to the next learning level, your instructor will outline the next lesson plan and explain the new objectives.
