Road Trip in Skye
It might be long. Some of you may find it boring. I wanted to share what it's like driving through the Isle of Skye. I mounted a GoPro to the hood of my rented Honda Jazz. If I had my Evo, it would be faster. Check out Quiraing, Old Man of Storr, and Portree.

Our trip to the Isle of Skye and its surroundings
So we went on a trip with ISUK this weekend (14th and 15th of March, 2015), and it was one of the most amazing things I've ever done. Here's the itinerary. (Please, accept my apologies for all the cheesy songs, the bad singing, etc.)
Saturday - Day 1:
- Leaving Glasgow at 08:00
- Luss in Loch Lomond at 09:00
- Loch Tulla at 10:30
- Glencoe - Three Sisters at 11:15
- Fort William and Lunch at 12:15
- Loch Garry at 14:30
- Eilean Donan Castle at 15:30
- Crossing the Skye Bridge to Isle of Skye (finally!) at 16:15
- Arrival at Kyleakin and Hostel at 16:30
- Dinner (lasagne for meee) + some dancing in 'Saucy Mary'
Sunday - Day 2:
-Sligachan Bridge and the Cuillins at 09:15
- Old Man of Storr & Trotternish Peninsula at 10:10
- Kilt Rock and Mealt Fall/Loch at 11:30
- Lealt George and Lealt Falls at 12:00
- Portree = LUNCH! at 13:00
- Return to Glasgow from 14:00 to 20:00, passing through Fort Williams once again.

The Isle of Skye, connected to Scotland's northwest coast by bridge, is known for its rugged landscapes, picturesque fishing villages and medieval castles. The largest island in the Inner Hebrides archipelago, it has an indented coastline of peninsulas and narrow lochs, radiating out from a mountainous interior. The town of Portree, a base for exploring the island, features harbourside pubs and boutiques.
Isle of Skye is the largest and northernmost of the major islands in the Inner Hebrides of Scotland. The island's peninsulas radiate from a mountainous centre dominated by the Cuillins, the rocky slopes of which provide some of the most dramatic mountain scenery in the country. Although it has been suggested that the Gaelic Sgitheanach describes a winged shape there is no definitive agreement as to the name's origins.
The main industries are tourism, agriculture, fishing and forestry. Skye is part of the Highland Council local government area. The island's largest settlement is Portree, known for its picturesque harbour. There are links to various nearby islands by ferry and, since 1995, to the mainland by a road bridge. The climate is mild, wet and windy. The abundant wildlife includes the golden eagle, red deer and Atlantic salmon. The local flora are dominated by heather moor, and there are nationally important invertebrate populations on the surrounding sea bed. Skye has provided the locations for various novels and feature films and is celebrated in poetry and song.

Last full day of our week on the Isle of Skye. We stopped briefly in Portree before driving down to the south of the island and the Sleat Peninsula. After visiting Kyleakin for an evening view of the bridge, we journeyed back to Skye Croft.

Tour Scotland travel video of Skye Bridge, Scottish Gaelic: Drochaid an Eilein Sgitheanaich, a road bridge over Loch Alsh, to Isle Of Skye, Inner Hebrides. The Isle of Skye is connected to the mainland by this road bridge. Connecting the mainland village of Kyle of Lochalsh to the village of Kyleakin on Skye. The main bridge is a concrete arch, supported by two piers. This connects Skye to the small island called Eilean Bàn which has a lighthouse just below the bridge. The the rest of the bridge is level across to the mainland. The total distance across is 1.5 miles The main arch is about 35 metres high, a 30 metre clearance for boats at high tide.

Over the sea to Skye... Skye Bridge opened 22 years ago to replace the ferry and revolutionise road transport to and from the Isle of Skye. Nowadays around 625,000 vehicles cross the bridge annually.

The A87 trunk road traverses the island from the Skye Bridge to Uig, linking most of the major settlements. Many of the island's roads have been widened in the past forty years although there are still substantial sections of single track road.
Skye has a strong folk music tradition, although in recent years dance and rock music have been growing in popularity on the island. Gaelic folk rock band Runrig started in Skye and former singer Donnie Munro still works on the island. Runrig's second single and a concert staple is entitled Skye, the lyrics being partly in English and partly in Gaelic.
