[Wikipedia] Slaughter Beach, Delaware
Slaughter Beach is a town in Sussex County, Delaware, United States. The population was 207 at the 2010 census, an increase of 4.5% over the past decade. It is part of the Salisbury, Maryland-Delaware Metropolitan Statistical Area. Slaughter Beach was founded in 1681 and incorporated in 1931. There are at least three stories of where the town's name came from: The first is that it was named after William Slaughter, a local postmaster in the mid-19th century. The second story claims “the name came from the horseshoe crabs that wash up on shore and die each year. They come near shore to shallow water to lay their eggs and the low tide strands them leaving them to die, thus the slaughter. The third story, and the most contested source of the town's name, stems from a local legend which tells of a man named Brabant who, in the mid-18th century, slaughtered several indigenous inhabitants by cannon in order to prevent an impending massacre.

Argos Corner Store fire
Working fire at Argo's Corner Store just outside Slaughter Beach, Delaware on July 8, 2011.
In response to the continued comments on the tanker, they are pretty common in the area. Along with the fire company in this video ( there are tractor trailer tankers at Greenwood ( Houston ( Millsboro ( Dagsboro ( Indian River ( Roxana ( Gumboro ( and many more. South Bowers probably has the best looking one, but unfortunately no website. The first one in the state was in Lewes ( they no longer have one but there are some photos of retired apparatus on the site and you can see the old ones that started their popularity in Delaware.

This happens to be my first video. It was shot with a DJI Mavic Pro just before sunset using D-LOG and edited in Divinci Resolve.
It was really tough finding a place in DE far enough away from airports, state parks, and nature reserves. I noticed this small strip of road just north of Slaughter Beach, and it worked out really nice.

The Shark Hunters of Japan (Part 2/2)
Off the coast of Okinawa, Japan, fishermen see hordes of their catch snapped up by sharks, which prowl the waters near their boats and tear into their hauls. In an effort to cut down on the problem, the fishermen launched an extensive extermination program—heading out into the open ocean with bait, hooks, and spears to catch and kill dozens of sharks.
In part two of this episode, we tagged along on a 2016 hunting expedition where a crew of fishermen worked together to take out a handful of sharks. Back on shore, we found out what happens to the sharks once they’re brought off the boats, and spoke with a researcher using the fish to study pollution in the waters off Japan.

Film Description: Steven Spielberg directed this powerful, realistic re-creation of WWII's D-day invasion and the immediate aftermath. The story opens with a prologue in which a veteran brings his family to the American cemetery at Normandy, and a flashback then joins Capt. John Miller (Tom Hanks) and GIs in a landing craft making the June 6, 1944, approach to Omaha Beach to face devastating German artillery fire. This mass slaughter of American soldiers is depicted in a compelling, unforgettable 24-minute sequence. Miller's men slowly move forward to finally take a concrete pillbox. On the beach littered with bodies is one with the name Ryan stenciled on his backpack. Army Chief of Staff Gen. George C. Marshall (Harve Presnell), learning that three Ryan brothers from the same family have all been killed in a single week, requests that the surviving brother, Pvt. James Ryan (Matt Damon), be located and brought back to the United States. Capt. Miller gets the assignment, and he chooses a translator, Cpl. Upham (Jeremy Davis), skilled in language but not in combat, to join his squad of right-hand man Sgt. Horvath (Tom Sizemore), plus privates Mellish (Adam Goldberg), Medic Wade (Giovanni Ribisi), cynical Reiben (Edward Burns) from Brooklyn, Italian-American Caparzo (Vin Diesel), and religious Southerner Jackson (Barry Pepper), an ace sharpshooter who calls on the Lord while taking aim. Having previously experienced action in Italy and North Africa, the close-knit squad sets out through areas still thick with Nazis. After they lose one man in a skirmish at a bombed village, some in the group begin to question the logic of losing more lives to save a single soldier. The film's historical consultant is Stephen E. Ambrose, and the incident is based on a true occurance in Ambrose's 1994 bestseller D-Day: June 6, 1944. ~ Bhob Stewart, Rovi
