The Sleeping Giant - Thunder Bay, Ontario
A run to the top of the Sleeping Giant in Thunder Bay, Ontario. We went up the old route called the Chimney but apparently it is closed now. We ran down the new trail which is amazing. Incredible views from both sides. The best run/hike or adventure in Thunder Bay.

Sleeping Giant Provincial Park (Top of the Giant Hike) // Road Trip 2019
What a great hike in Northern Ontario! Our first time in Thunder Bay, our first time Walmart camping, and our first time at Sleeping Giant National Park! We really enjoyed our 22 km hike, which took a full day. We took our time and try to really savor each fantastic views, overlooking Lake Superior. The weather was perfect and we felt like we were the only ones there. We definitely recommend Sleeping Giant National Park!
After our hike we made use of our day pass (which costs $15.50), so we filled up our 15L water jug and we took showers at Marie Louise Lake Campgrounds. Showering in warm water!! Wow!! We both felt incredible to be so clean, for the first time in a week!
Next stop, Winnipeg!
Thanks for watching!

Sleeping Giant Provincial Park
Just north of the border near Thunder Bay, lies a beautiful Canadian peninsula on Lake Superior. A mountain range in the park, called the Sleeping Giant, offers spectacular views of the lake and some great rustic campsites.
We made a four day, almost 60 KM walk around the peninsula. Toots, a Thunder Bay resident and a veteran of these trails, guided us along the journey. While smoke from Canadian wildfires and some fog hampered the views, they did not diminish our fun.
We also were able to visit with folks working at the Thunder Cape Bird Observatory. It was fascinating to hear about their work and see a bird get banded. To learn more, check out these websites:

Thunder Bay Lookout Area Sleeping Giant Provincial Park Ontario Canada
Sleeping Giant Provincial Park is one of the Most Beautiful Parks in Ontario Canada and is one of the Most Scenic Parks with a mountain in its backyard is the reason this park was named the sleeping giant.
There is a spot along the highway before you get to the park and if you really look at the mountain from that site it really looks like a Huge Statue Man that is sleeping hence this is the reason they called it The Sleeping Giant, well I cannot explain it, you really have to be there to see it for yourself.
In Sleeping Giant Provincial Park there is a place called the Thunder Bay Lookout Area, this area looks from the back side mountains of the park straight at the city of Thunder Bay, Ontario Canada and it is on a Cliff that is approximately 800 to 1300 Feet High from the Shores of Lake Superior. It is beautiful.
I did this video to give you a sneak peak of what is coming up. So enjoy and have fun and do check it out.
This park is known for its Beautiful Hiking Trails and you really need weeks to really explore this Huge Sleeping Giant Park, there are some Canoe Routes there as well but seek guidance and help from Park Staff regarding Canoeing and Kayaking in Lake Superior especially in late Summer. The Waves in Lake Superior and some places are big as a huge truck.
Beautiful Place for RV and Camping and Van Life and all those interested in going on a road trip. This is a Must See Place in Western Ontario Canada.

The Road to Sleeping Giant, Near Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada
The road off Highway 17 to Sleeping Giant Provincial Parks is one of the provinces best kept secrets. A windy road with turn after turn, through lush forests, this backroad is an experience most riders are happy to do twice - once on the way out, and once on the way back.
Sleeping Giant Park Hike NW Ontario -- Part 1
In early spring I do a solo overnight backpacking trip on a trail segment on the west side of Sleeping Giant Provincial Park in northwestern Ontario, along Lake Superior. In Part 1, I spend time describing the boreal forest ecology and stand dynamics in this somewhat unique Lake Superior coastal forest condition. Stay tuned for part 2 & 3 where I show camping on the coast.
