HD Railfanning In Brunswick Maine - Pan Am & Maine Eastern - Early September 2012
Exciting week in Brunswick!
First, DO-1 with MEC #345 is seen arriving at Stanwood Street, after picking up 2 loaded steel cars in the yard. Then, after adding the 10 cars for Maine Eastern onto the other 15 steel cars that were already under Spring Street, the power runs light through Downtown Brunswick to Rock Junction, to pick up some cars from Maine Eastern that were waiting on the start of the Augusta Lower Road. Kind of rare seeing Pan Am at Rock Junction nowadays!
After turning the power, 345 recouples to the train near Union Street, and heads back to Stanwood Street where it will be tied down and await a new crew to take it back west - which came around 11 that night.
The next scene is from Cook's Corner in Brunswick - of a Maine Eastern freight headed east with the 10 cars that Pan Am delivered Saturday. Just made it for this one - after hearing the horn when getting out of school. Glad I decided last minute to take my camera with me just in case - lol!
Watch in 720p for best quality.
Thanks for watching! Enjoy!

Norfolk Southern MOAY and PAS MOED
For my last trip of the summer before school, we wen't to the pan am for some action. Here we have Eastbound MOAY with 2 NS locomotives and a little UP yellow to brighten up the shot! unfortunately some ass hole just couldn't see the train in front of her stupid face and wouldn't shut up after i gave her the silent treatment while trying to salvage my video, she decided to drag it just in time for the locomotives to pass. we then chased them just down to the Pownal race track, and started heading home. With in 15 minuets after MOAY passed through, MOED was right on their tail, we will see them once in North Petersburg,NY with 4 EMD locomotives and a pretty long train, a nice end to a nice season, hope everyone had a great summer! now time for trains in the Fall foliage!!!!

PAR 1 (FP9) at Butters Row - High Iron Excursion
PAR 1 (GMD FP9) and PAR 2 (GMD FP9) lead the High Iron Travel rail excursion train over the border of Woburn and Wilmington, Massachusetts, slowing down on approach to the overpass at Butters Row before cautiously passing underneath. In addition to being old, rickety, and wide enough to accommodate only one vehicle at a time, the Butters Row bridge offers the bare minimum in terms of vertical clearance: it's been clipped once or twice in the past by Pan Am freight. Due to the excessive height of the dome cars on today's train, PAR 1 was limited to 10 mph while negotiating the bridge.
The consist of this train is packed with history. I've included a brief background on each of the coaches below.
SLRG 1394 Prairie View (Budd Company, 1955)
Originally built for the Great Northern Railway (Empire Builder), GN 1394 became AMTK 9364 at some point in the 1970s, and was used by Amtrak as a parts coach before being sold to the Burlington Northern Railroad in 1993. Holland America Line (Westours), who, at the time, operated a fleet of antique coaches on the Alaska Railroad, put in an offer on the decrepit AMTK 9364 in 1996. Burlington Northern ignored Westours' offer, however, and put the coach up for auction, probably with the hopes that it'd stir some competitive bidding. Unfortunately for Burlington Northern, the coach was in a very sad state, having sustained minor fire damage and at least a decade of exposure to the elements; predictably, Westours' bid stood unopposed. Unbeknownst to Burlington Northern, Westours had been collecting parts for the coach for some time on the whim that they'd someday acquire it, and by 1997 it'd undergone full restoration at a price of $1,000,000. The coach was purchased by Iowa Pacific Holdings, for the San Luis and Rio Grande Railroad, in 2009.
SLRG 511 Scenic View (Budd Company, 1954)
Originally built for the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway, ATSF 511 was rebuilt by Pullman Standard in 1972 and went to work for the Auto-Train Corporation as AUT 523. Like SLRG 1394, SLRG 511 was acquired by Iowa Pacific from Holland America Line (Westours), only two years earlier, in 2007.
PPCX 800069 Cimarron River (Pullman-Standard, 1948)
Originally built as a sleeper for the St. Louis-San Francisco Railway (more commonly known as the Frisco), SLSF 1466 became CN 2105 Rainbow Falls before being acquired by its current operator, Meteor Rail, Inc.
SLRG 9660 Colorado Pine (Pullman-Standard, 1953)
Originally built for the Louisville and Nashville Railroad, LN 3462 Plantation Pine was renumbered as LN 1661 before being sold to the Spencer Chemical Company in Kansas City, Missouri, where it was used as an office dormitory for their weed spraying operations. In 1989 the coach was purchased by Colorado Zyphers, Inc., and by 2002 it'd been fully restored and renumbered as PPCX 800563. The coach was sold to Iowa Pacific in 2012.
SLRG 1 Caritas (Pullman-Standard, 1948)
Originally built for the Frisco, SLSF 1450 Pierre La Clede was sold to Canadian National in 1964, where it became known as Churchill Falls. In 1983 the coach was acquired by High Iron (PPCX 800045), who restored it, converted it into a business car, and adorned it with a beautiful Art Deco paint scheme.

Railfanning At Point of Rocks and Brunswick 7-2-19 Ft. Amtrak #822, and Yellow Curtis Bay Slugs
On 7-2-19 I made my way over to Point of Rocks in the late morning hours, the first train was B709 rounding the curve at 11:10 a.m. running lite power to Dickerson, MD (Pepco). It then was three minutes later when Q414 hit the switches at Point of Rocks, this is the last Q414 that will be seen on my channel as it was abolished not to long after this video was recorded. Next up was B709 returning at 3:03 p.m. with the blue ash cars returning to Brunswick. Then it was a late P030 rounding the curve at 3:26 p.m. After 30 passed the clouds started rolling in, but the rain held out for Q413 coming eastbound on track 1 heading towards ACCA (Richmond, VA Yard). After that I was off to Brunswick, this time for no specific reason. The first train was a late MARC P873 heading west on track one at 4:55 p.m., and then eastbound into the yard at 5:02 p.m. Now's when it gets interesting, CSX Q372 making its way eastbound with a GEVO with a fouled K5HL, 5107 the Thomas Rice Special, and 5A, 5B, and 5C, the yellow Curtis Bay Slug Set bound for Baltimore, these three engines suffered damage after derailing near Philadelphia, on Q371 which was supposed to be dropping them off in Baltimore. After Q372 it was Q416 with 5 elephant style engines pulling the train west on track one. 20 minutes later here came Amtrak P029 on track 2 with 822 trailing as the second unit! After P029 here came MARC P875 at 6:05 p.m. making a station stop before continuing on to Martinsburg, WV (the final destination). The final train for me was a short Q136 with a Dash 9 as the second unit.
All trains in this video were recorded on 7-2-19 at Point of Rocks, and Brunswick, MD.

CMQ Searsport Local NB w/LTEX #2542: April 23, 2017
Shortly after I returned from my trip to Portland, I brought my mom and brother out after a decently long chase of a CMQ Northbound from Searsport-Hermon (Northern Maine Junction). Power was the LTEX GP35U #2542 and CMQ B23-7 #2003, the normal as of lately. First spot we managed to catch the train was at Stream Road Trestle, over Marsh Stream, in Winterport. All other filming locations can be found in the video.

Train 5:
Run through power heads west: CSX SD70MAC #4771 and Norfolk Southern C40-9W #9931 are on the point of a lengthy manifest.
Train 6:
Two westbound headlights appear in the distance as an eastbound approaches. That eastbound is Amtrak's train #6, the 'California Zephyr', being led today by the Phase III Heritage Unit, P42DC #145! P42 #194 is behind it.
Train 7:
P42s #133 and 167 lead Amtrak train #3, the westbound 'Southwest Chief'.
Train 8:
Metra F40PH #117, the 'Village of Palos Park', brings an outbound train to a stop at the beginning of the BNSF Line rush period.
Trains 9 and 10:
Sorry for the shakiness and bad zooming here: Two BNSF intermodals pass each other. The westbound train is led by a Dash-9 and two CSX GEVOs; the second train by two Dash-9s. Admittedly, this probably wasn't the best place to catch this meet, but hey...
~Thanks for watching!~
