Slough Fort
* You may need to pause the video to be able to read the information boards in this video.
Slough Fort is a small artillery fort that was built at Allhallows-on-Sea in the north of the Hoo Peninsula in Kent. Constructed in 1867, the D-shaped fort was intended to guard a vulnerable stretch of the River Thames against possible enemy landings during a period of tension with France. Its seven casemates initially accommodated rifled breech loading guns, which were replaced by the turn of the century by more powerful breech-loaders on disappearing carriages, mounted in concrete wing batteries on either side of the fort. It was likely one of the smallest of the forts constructed as a result of the 1860s invasion scare.

Slough Fort Allhallows Kent
This fort was built in the 1860s to house seven Rifled Breech Loading guns, and a further four guns in wing batteries east and west of the fort. It forms part of the Thames Estuary defences, and is located at Allhallows on the Isle of Grain, Kent. The fort is crescent shaped, with a granite faced entrance at the front and a row of casemates at the rear. This is typical of the Thames forts, but Slough is considerably smaller than nearby Cliffe and Shornemead forts. Slough Fort is currently used by a riding school, with the casemates forming stables and is in surprisingly good condition. Although a number of alterations have taken place to the structure.

Cliffe Fort Part 2
Cliffe Fort is a disused artillery fort built in the 1860s to guard the entrance to the Thames from seaborne attack. Constructed during a period of tension with France, it stands on the south bank of the river at the entrance to Cliffe Creek in the Cliffe marshes on the Hoo Peninsula in North Kent. Its location on marshy ground caused problems from the start and necessitated changes to its design after the structure begin to crack and subside during construction. The fort was equipped with a variety of large-calibre artillery guns which were intended to support two other nearby Thamesside forts. A launcher for the Brennan torpedo—which has been described as the world's first practical guided missile—was installed there at the end of the 19th century but was only in active use for a few years.
Cliffe Fort saw about 60 years of usage as an artillery fort, from its completion in 1870 to its disarmament in 1927. It was repurposed during World War II to serve as an anti-aircraft battery on the approaches to London. The fort's military career ended when it was sold off after the war to the owners of a neighbouring aggregates works. Today it lies derelict, overgrown and heavily flooded. It is not accessible to the public and is in a poor and slowly deteriorating condition which has led it to be listed as an at risk heritage asset.
Exploring Abandoned Napoleonic WW1 & WW2 Coastal Artillery Battery - (Private Tour)
So guys as I said in the video, It was all thanks to the key holder and Slough Fort Volunteers Group on Facebook that this was made possible. I'am very grateful indeed that I was able to record and document in there as it's not open to the public and it rare circumstances that people are allowed in for a private tour, I would also like to say thank you to the key holder for all the amazing commentary and information as I would never be able to remember all of that in such a short time period. So once again a big shoutout to Slough Fort for all the help, he sure to like them on Facebook and visit their website as it is well worth a look, they do have public open days a few times a year, but other than that you will have to book privately a few weeks in advance like I did, so be sure to check out the links below into the fort and it's history. I will also be recording quite a bit during the Easter Break so be sure to look out for the double uploads. But anyways guys I hope you enjoyed the video and I will see you in the next one, so yeah guys, Bye.

CLEARING THE CANAL / FIRST TANKER VIA THE CAPE
The work of clearing the Suez Canal is steadily going ahead. The 2,600 ton minelayer HMS Manxman, was the first ship to pass through the newly cleared channel. Danish troops for the United Nations Force arrived in Port Said under the command of Colonel Ingholm. From arrivals to departures - the French ship 'La Marseillaise', took some 200 members of the European Community away from Egyptian persecution. A Greek tanker arrived at the Kent Refinery on the Isle of Grain. She's the first tanker to carry Middle East oil around the Cape, 28,000 tons of it from Kuwait.
