Travel to Slovakia – BARDEJOV – Vlog
Slovakia is a hidden gem in the heart of Europe.
Slovensko je ukrytý klenot v srdci Európy.
Today we visited a wonderful town Bardejov. It is a town in North-Eastern Slovakia. It is situated in the Šariš region on a floodplain terrace of the Topľa River, in the hills of the Beskyd Mountains. It exhibits numerous cultural monuments in its completely intact medieval town center. The town is one of UNESCO's World Heritage Sites and currently maintains a population of about 32,000 inhabitants.
If you're looking for top places to see in Slovakia, Bardejov is definitely one of them!
Also, I'll be happy if you help me learn the Slovak language:))

✈️ Top things to see in Prešov, Slovakia
In todays video I'm gonna share with you my tips on what to see and do in my hometown of Prešov, which is the third largest city in Slovakia. Read my tips here ▾
Tip 1: Walk along the main street of Prešov
Prešov has a beautiful city centre with a lot of interesting spots. Such as Prešov's parallel - 49° N parallel of latitude marked by monument, metal horse, Water tower, Town hall, historical building of the Black Eagle Cultural Centre where I used to work as an event manager or Neptun's fountain and park where locals hang out after a long day at work or school.
Tip 2: Visit Co-Cathedral of Saint Nicholas
Right in the city center you can also find the landmark of Prešov - the Co-cathedral of Saint Nicholas and you can also enjoy the view from the tower at the top of the church (opened from June to August).
Tip 3: Taste Pirôžky
While you are exploring the city you can treat yourself with a delicious sweet fried dumplings that are called Pirôžky in here. You can choose from different flavours every day and the weekly menu is every week the same. It just belongs to Prešov and everybody knows about this place.
Tip 4: Enjoy the view from Calvary
Some of the best views of the city can be enjoyed from the hill known as Calvary, where you can find lovely baroque complex and city residents like walking up there. It's truly a magical place.
Tip 5: Explore Šariš Castle ruins
If you have more time to spend in Prešov you can go for a trip to Šariš castle. Its ruins are still visible from a far distance and the castle is very popular for day trips among the locals.
Thank you so much for watching my video. I hope you will find these tips helpful.
Have a nice trip to Prešov!

Banska Stiavnice (Slovakia) Vacation Travel Video Guide
Travel video about destination Banska Stiavnice in Slovakia.
Banská Štiavnica is one of the most beautiful cities in Slovakia and whose historic buildings form its mediaeval centre. The old town, and silver mines of the surrounding area, have been designated as a World Cultural Heritage Site. The Kammer-Hof was created by the combination of three Gothic buildings during the sixteenth century. Up until the nineteenth century, the mining chamber and the first technical university in the world were located there. The Church Of The Assumption Of Mary was built by the Dominican Order at the beginning of the thirteenth century. For the first time in this region a rib vault was raised in its construction and served as a model for further buildings. However, at the beginning of the nineteenth century the church burned down and was rebuilt in Classical style. Now its altars and paintings shine out in all their glory and highlight the deep religious faith of both miners and mine owners alike. Since 1971, the New Castle has been a museum. On one floor, musical instruments, household items and clothing. Another floor contains numerous weapons and suits of armour which were used during hostilities by the Turks. The city underwent troubled times and its prosperity had to be defended. The wealth of the city and its mining of silver made Banská Štiavnica wealthy and created its historical splendour.

On this 2019 video i am walking in bratislava in slovakia 2019 showing bratislava old town shops facilities with food & drink facilities #slovakia #bratislava
Bratislava is the capital of Slovakia. With a population of about 430,000, it is one of the smaller capitals of Europe but still the country's largest city. The greater metropolitan area is home to more than 650,000 people. Bratislava is in southwestern Slovakia, occupying both banks of the River Danube and the left bank of the River Morava. Bordering Austria and Hungary, it is the only national capital that borders two sovereign states.
The city's history has been influenced by people of many nations and religions, including Austrians, Bulgarians, Croats, Czechs, Germans, Hungarians, Jews, Serbs and Slovaks. It was the coronation site and legislative center of the Kingdom of Hungary from 1536 to 1783, and has been home to many Slovak, Hungarian and German historical figures.
Bratislava is the political, cultural and economic centre of Slovakia. It is the seat of the Slovak president, the parliament and the Slovak Executive. It has several universities, and many museums, theatres, galleries and other cultural and educational institutions.[9] Many of Slovakia's large businesses and financial institutions have headquarters there.
In 2017, Bratislava was ranked as the third richest region of the European Union by GDP (PPP) per capita (after Hamburg and Luxembourg City). GDP at purchasing power parity is about three times higher than in other Slovak regions. Bratislava receives around 1 million tourists every year.
St Elizabeth's Cathedral (Dom Svatej Alzbety) in Kosice, Slovakia
The Cathedral of St Elisabeth is a Gothic cathedral in Košice.
It is Slovakia's largest church and one of the easternmost Gothic cathedrals in Europe.
The record of the existence of Kassa (modern day Košice), dating from 1230, is connected with the existence of the rectory church. In the process of the settlement's transformation from a rural community into a town, all its periods of successes and failures have been reflected in St Elisabeth's Cathedral.
According to historical and archaeological sources, the present-day cathedral was built on the place of an earlier church also consecrated to St Elisabeth of Hungary. It was referred to in documents of 1283 and 1290, in which the bishop of Eger Andrew II exempted Košice parish from the dean's sphere of jurisdiction.
St Elisabeth Cathedral is the largest Church in Slovakia with a total area of 1,200 square metres and capacity of more than 5000 people. It is the main church in the Košice Archdiocese. It is one of the most eastern Gothic cathedrals in Europe.
The church is 60 metres long and 36 metres wide; the height of the north tower is 59 metres. The central nave is 24 m long and aisles are 12 m long. Construction of the church influenced builders' activity in surrounding towns such as Prešov, Bardejov, Sabinov, Rožňava and it also influenced construction of other churches in Poland and Transylvania.
The Gothic Cathedral of Košice consists of the choir with a five-side chavet, five naves, two towers, a level sacristy at the north side, and two chapels and antechapel at the south side. There is a unique inside layout of the church, where the central nave and four aisles are crossed in the middle by one transept of the same height and width as the central nave which altogether create a Greek cross.
This big central space rises in the centre of the church and together with three equal exterior gables with richly decorated portals belong to the acme of medieval stone work of art in the Middle Europe. The complex of the cathedral and adjacent buildings – St Michael Chapel and Urban Tower were declared as Cultural Heritage Monuments in 1970.
In 1970, St Elisabeth Cathedral was declared a National Cultural Monument. All the profiled architectural features (pinnacles, gargoyles, gadroons) had been either destroyed by the rain water or were unmounted. The stone decoration at the north portal was very much affected by weathering. Cathedral reconstruction started again in September 1978 with detailed architectural documentation. After a short break, works started again in 1984.
In the meantime authorities started with the complex solution of Košice centrum monuments innovation, which was in 1983 declared as the biggest town monuments reservation in Slovakia. One of the factors that contributed to higher care of church was excluding motor-vehicle traffic from the main street in 1984 and tram traffic in 1986.
During the reconstruction it was decided to use a method of a maintaining the stage from the big reconstruction at the end of the 19th century. First the roof of the main and side aisles was repaired where the ceramic coloured enamel tiles were changed, but with the original pattern from the 19th century. The flèche was reconstructed and it was necessary to add 264 pieces of lead decorations.
From 1980–92 the most damaged part of the chapel and sacristy were reconstructed. The works were done by the Polish company Polskie Pracownie Konserwacji Zabytków from Vratislav. It was necessary to construct the new crown gardoons, gargoyles and pinnacles – according to the accessible documents and projects from the town's archival collection. Similarly the staircase towers were done. The gargoyles' reconstruction was done according to original Medieval patterns which are retained in the museums. This reconstruction included the interior repair of a chapel.
In 1992–95 the south façade, including windowpanes was done. The Sigimund's tower was under consistent renovation in 1995–97 when a rococo copper helmit was replaced. Cleaned and gilded plumbing decorations are originals from 1775. In 2008 reconstruction of the Rákóczi crypt was finished and in 2009 reconstruction of the most precious north portal was finished.
Today there is renovation work at the exterior of the north façade of the church and the west portal and interior of the crossed north aisle. The Matthias tower is awaiting reconstruction.
The base of the space composition is formed by the central nave with five bays which is divided by the cross aisle with one bay in axis. Apparent substitution of an idea are four subordinate spaces, inset into the ground plan of the building and inserted between the arms of main and cross aisle. In the first decades probably the enclosure walls were built and the main outline of space disposition was finished.

Trenčín in 4k - Pearl of Povazie (Slovakia Vlog)
Travel guide:
Pearl of Povazie and Slovakia
Trenčín is a city that is alongside the train track from Bratislava to the high Tatras. The castle above the city is very nice. But I think the real star is the old town square below it. Therefore the title “Pearl of Povazie” is well deserved. Please read on learn how to get there.
Best time to visit
In winter it can get cold so the best time to visit is Spring, Summer and Autumn. We visited in November because weather was really nice but we were also lucky. Of course if you like snow you can go there in winter. Note that between October and April the castle closes earlier (opening times between 9:00-16:30). In summer it is open until 7 pm (as of 2018).
How to get there
We visited Trenčín before visiting Bojnice castle (which is highly recommended as well, read our travel guide here).
Public Transport: We came from Bratislava via train. The train connection is really good because it is the fast train going to the High Tatras and Košice (second largest city in Slovakia).
We arrived in Bratislava from Vienna. From Vienna you can buy an Euregio ticket to Bratislava.
You can check this website for train times.
If you are going by car there is a good road going from Bratislava to Trenčín.
Here you can rent a car for your trip from our partners at Rentalcars.com: Rentalcars.com Car Hire – Search, Compare & Save
Accommodation
We stayed in Pri Parku Pension very near to the train station. This was actually a very funny place: It was a small castle in itself with a bar with gambling machines downstairs and the entrance to the pension is in the back.
The room we had on the ground floor was amazingly big. There was also a shared kitchen and a shared bathroom. Note that this place has a little bit the feel (and smell) of a hostel but the location is perfect when you arrive via train. It was really cheap. I can highly recommend it.
To continue to the old town center you have to go through a park (hence the name Pri Parku). It is a 10-15 minutes walk.
Eat
If you go to the old town center you will immediately see (or smell) the pizza place because almost everybody is running around with a slice of pizza in their hands.
If you want to eat more healthy there is a place called “Mak palacinkáreň” where you can get pancakes. Select what they put on it: if you choose sweet it will not be as healthy again of course. It is on the main square but the entrance is a little bit hidden in a hallway going south.
There is also a COOP supermarket if you go in the direction of the main street (in a street parallel to the pedestrian square/street). You can buy some (at least for us) exotic food there – for example the cheese that looks like Spaghetti.
Top 5 things to do in Trenčín
1. Trenčín Castle
Trenčín castle is beautiful.
To walk there it is a little bit steep but it is more near than it seems.
The highlight is a tower sporting a magnificent view over the city.
There you will also see that the old city center is beautiful but the other parts are not so much.
2. Main square (Hviezdoslavova)
I think the main square is the real star of the town.
It is a pedestrian zone and a very chill place to hang around, eat out in a restaurant or just to sit there and admire the view to the castle.
3. City tower (Mestská brána)
This tower is at the western exit of the city square.
You can visit it and go up. A word of warning though: It closes early so be there on time.
BTW: If you leave the main square through this exit you will come into an area with more shops, bars and cafés. There is also a very ugly (?) building you can see in the upper left corner of the following picture.
I asked and it seemingly used to be a military building. (If you know more about this building PLEASE post in the comments below I would greatly appreciate it.)
4. Synagoge
The Synagoge is beautiful and there is a nice square in front of it.
5. Fontána vodníka
There is a nice square with a funny fountain with a man crawling out of it in front of the synagoge. (In winter they did some repair on it so we did not snap a picture.)
Conclusion
I really liked Trenčín. The castle is nice but I did not expect that I liked the main old town square so much. It is a place of great tranquility and I now understand why this place is called the Pearl of Povazie and Slovakia.
I also recommend that you continue to Bojnice castle (read my travel guide here) afterwards, the most beautiful castle of Slovakia.
