Mid-Continent Public Library Genealogy Collection
Curious Eye Productions created this educational video to showcase the genealogy collection at the Mid-Continent Public Library. This was produced prior to the the library opening the Midwest Genealogy Center (MGC) in 2008. Interviews were conducted with both staff and library patrons.
For years, Mid-Continent Public Library's genealogy collection was of the best kept secrets in the Kansas City area. Although it was one of the largest public collections in the country and attracted researchers from far and wide, few people in the metro area knew it existed. The library understood the tremendous asset that it had and the board decided to spin it off into a free-standing facility. This video was designed to educate the public about Mid-Continent's genealogy collection and the need for a new building.
