Xi'an, China: City Walls & Goose Pagodas in 4K (Ultra HD)
Xi'an is one of the oldest cities in China, it served as China’s capital for more than 1,100 years.
The city wall was built starting from 1370. It is the world's largest city wall - 12 m/40 ft high, 15 m/50 ft wide on the top, 14 km/8.5 mi long. The Great Wild Goose Pagoda was completed in 652 (64 m/210 ft), and was built to store the translations of Buddhist sutras obtained from India. The Small Wild Goose Pagoda was completed in 707. The Grand Mosque, 8th century, is the oldest mosque in China, it blends Islamic and Chinese architecture styles.

The Small Wild Goose Pagoda and the Big Wild Goose Pagoda are opposite to each other. They are two important landmarks of Xi’an. Compared with the the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, the Small Wild Goose Pagoda is exceptionally quiet. There are many well-designed chic parks where you can enjoy a lot of Chinese traditional handicrafts classes and studio.

Giant Wild Goose Pagoda, Xian - China Travel Channel
The Giant Wild Goose Pagoda is the landmark of the city of Xi'an. The entire temple complex stands as a symbol to the monk Xuangzang, who translated and stored the Buddhist scriptures he brought back with him from a trip to India. The 64 m high pagoda is from the year 652 and at one time had 10 stories.
The pagoda was built by Emperor Gaozong in memory of his deceased mother. In addition to the pagoda, the temple complex includes a main and secondary hall and a bell and drum tower. In the halls are a series of Buddhist fine art items such as jade reliefs, stone sculptures and images of Buddha.

Wahrzeichen der Stadt Xian ist die Große Wildganspagode. Die gesamte Tempelanlage steht im Zeichen des Mönches Xuangzang, der hier seine buddhistischen Schriften, die er von seiner Reise nach Indien mitgebracht hatte, übersetzte und aufbewahrte. Die 64 m hohe Pagode stammt aus dem Jahre 652 und hatte einst zehn Stockwerke. Errichtet wurde sie von Kaiser Gaozong zum Gedenken an seine verstorbene Mutter. The Big Wild Goose Pagoda (Giant Wild Goose Pagoda) is situated in Da Ci'en Temple, in the southern suburb of Xi’an, Shaanxi Province. It is a 7-story pagoda with a total height of 64.5 meters. It is the earliest and largest Tang Dynasty style square towered brick pagoda that can be found today, this unique style stands witness to the spread of ancient Indian architectural styles and the dissemination of Buddhism into China, and became part of Chinese civilization. It is a masterpiece of Buddhist architecture in Tang Dynasty. It’s our fourth and final day in Xi’an. We head to the Wild Goose Pagoda in the morning, fly the DJI Spark drone up close and person to get some great shots then head back into the city centre. We loved walking along the Ancient City Wall and back to Muslim Street for some street food, a Chinese hamburger, lamb stew and some ice cream.

Traveled to Xi'an city of Shaanxi Province.

-The fortifications of Xi'an, also known as Xi'an City Wall, in Xi'an, an ancient capital of China, represent one of the oldest, largest and best preserved Chinese city walls. It has been refurbished many times since it was built in the 14th century, thrice at intervals of about 200 years in the later half of the 1500s and 1700s, and in recent years in 1983. The wall encloses an area of about 14 square kilometres.
-The Small Wild Goose Pagoda, sometimes Little Wild Goose Pagoda, is one of two significant pagodas in Xi'an, Shaanxi.The Small Wild Goose Pagoda was built between 707–709, during the Tang dynasty under Emperor Zhongzong of Tang. The pagoda stood 45 m until the 1556 Shaanxi earthquake. The earthquake shook the pagoda and damaged it so that it now stands at a height of 43 m with fifteen levels of tiers.

Giant Wild Goose Pagoda or Big Wild Goose Pagoda (Chinese: 大雁塔; pinyin: Dàyàn tǎ), is a Buddhist pagoda located in southern Xi'an, Shaanxi province, China. It was built in 652 during the Tang dynasty and originally had five stories. The structure was rebuilt in 704 during the reign of Empress Wu Zetian, and its exterior brick facade was renovated during the Ming dynasty. One of the pagoda's many functions was to hold sutras and figurines of the Buddha that were brought to China from India by the Buddhist translator and traveler Xuanzang.
The original pagoda was built during the reign of Emperor Gaozong of Tang (r. 649–683), then standing at a height of 54 m (177 ft).
This construction of rammed earth with a stone exterior facade collapsed five decades later. The ruling Empress Wu Zetian had the pagoda rebuilt and added five new stories by the year 704.
A massive earthquake in 1556 heavily damaged the pagoda and reduced it by three stories, to its current height of seven stories.
The structure leans very perceptibly (several degrees) to the west. Its related structure, the 8th century Small Wild Goose Pagoda in Xi'an, only suffered minor damage in the 1556 earthquake (unrepaired to this day). The Giant Wild Goose Pagoda was extensively repaired during the Ming dynasty (1368–1644) and renovated again in 1964. The pagoda currently stands at a height of 64 m (210 ft) tall and from the top it offers views over the city of Xi'an.

Xi'an currently holds sub-provincial status, administerring 9 districts and 4 counties.[ According to the 2010 Census, nine urbanized districts of Xi'an has a population of 6,501,189, while the total population of the Municipality is up to 8,467,837.[It is the most populous city in Northwest China, as well as one of the three most populous cities in Western China.[According to a July 2012 report by the Economist Intelligence Unit, it was recently named as one of the 13 emerging megacities, or megalopolises, in China.[ The report pinpoints and highlights the demographic and income trends that are shaping these cities' development.
