New Zealand Honeymoon || Jet Boating and Skydiving in Wanaka
November 14, 2019
Owen and I woke up and got some coffee before an exciting day on the water jet boating. I screamed and laughed a lot. What an incredible way to spend a morning in Wanaka!
Then, my silly self brought up skydiving, and next thing I know, we're on our way to Wanaka Airport to strap ourselves to a beautiful stranger and jump out of a perfectly good plane!
We treated ourselves to some drinks and food to celebrate us making it out of the day alive!
What could possibly be on our itinerary for tomorrow?

Snow Shoeing adventure Queenstown New Zealand
I wanted to prove that there's lots of other things to do in Queenstown, New Zealand in Winter, than just skiing or snowboarding. Especially for hikers and bushwalkers!... (that's trampers to the Kiwis!)
New Zealand - South Island -2014
Visited New Zealand's South Island this summer/January 2014. It was a 10 day self-drive trip through some of the great natural places on the planet. NZ South Island is sparsely populated. The large parts of western areas are preserved as world heritage forests.
Much of south island depend on tourism. Summer temperature ranges 18-25 degrees and is cool. Some mountains ranges still covered in snow. It is perfect for outdoor activities like bush-walking, water sports etc.
We had a great time. If you like the great outdoors NZ's South Island is a good place to visit.

New Zealand divided as replica of Captain Cook's Endeavour marks 250th landing anniversary
A controversial flotilla commemorating the 250th anniversary of the first Europeans to reach New Zealand made land today.
Tuia 250, a series of events planned to mark the milestone, has been the subject of fierce debate, and protests were held on the shore of Taranganui-a-kiwa, on the east coast of the North Island, directed at a replica of Captain Cook’s HMS Endeavour that was part of the fleet.

NEW ZEALAND | cinematic travel video ???????? trekking paragliding bungy jumping
New Zealand cinematic travel adventure video with trekking, paragliding and bungy jumping!
We began our adventure in Hamilton at Shailer's Bed & Breakfast, a working dairy farm. We even had the opportunity to milk some cows! We visited the Otorohanga Kiwi House, which is a great place to see and learn about local wildlife including the famous kiwi bird.

The Waitomo Caves - Lost World 4 Hour Tour, operated by Waitomo Adventures, was the thrill of a lifetime! It inlcudes 100 meter abseiling (rappelling) down in to the mouth of the cave, 350 meters of hiking through boulders and along rocky cliffs, and approximately 50 meters of ladder climbing. It wiped us out, but we felt like we'd accomplished a marathon once we completed it. We also witnessed Marokopa Falls, which is so perfect it looks like a theme park built it, and the Mangapohue Natural Bridge.
Farmers markets are always a favorite of ours, and Hamilton Farmer's Market was no exception. We also explored Hamilton Gardens, and took a tour followed by a high tea at Zealong Tea Estate. We learned much about tea, sampled choice teas, and discovered I prefer green tea over black. But the biggest event of the day was definitely the Hobbiton tour and evening banquet in Matamata. It inlcuded a full tour of the filming location for The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit, family feast at the Green Dragon Inn, and walk through Hobbiton at night by lantern light. My inner geek was absolutely thrilled!
Te Urewera Treks took us hiking through lush podocarp rainforest with a local Maori guide. The New Zealand tree ferns were amazing! New Zealand has over 100 species of ferns, and the silver fern is their national emblem. We also went on the Redwoods Treewalk - a suspension bridge network through the Redwood forest near Rotorua, and visited the thermal hotspot known as Wai-O-Tapu. Tamaki Maori Village gave us a glimpse into the beautiful Maori culture, native Polynesians who are decendents of Hawaiians.
On the South Island, we stayed at Larnach Castle Lodge with gorgeous views of the Otago Peninsula. We spotted little blue penguins and royal albatross at The Royal Albatross Centre, and yellow-eyed penguins and fur seals at Penguin Place. A local tip lead us to Allan's Beach, where we were able to safely approach fur seals and sea lions. And scenic Nugget Point Lighthouse wasn't too far away and definitely worth a visit.
In Te Anau, we were overwhelmed with the beauty and majesty of Fiordlands National Park with a cruise through Milford Sound by Southern Discoveries. Trips & Tramps also took us trekking into the rainforest with a day hike along the Milford Track to Giant's Gate Falls.
Our final base camp was in Queenstown, where we enjoyed a scenic dinner and Maori cultural show at Skyline Stratosfare. Kiwi Birdlife Park is another great place to see native wildlife, and Queenstown Gardens is a beautiful place to escape town and enjoy scenic lakeside views. Paragliding over Queenstown with Gforce Paragliding was awesome! The lake and mountains are a breathtaking view. And since bungy jumping was invented in New Zealand, I of course had to try a bungy jump at The Ledge with AJ Hackett company.
From scenic beauty to endemic wildlife to thrills of a lifetime, New Zealand has something for everybody. If you love the great outdoors, you absolutely must explore these magnificent emerald isles! Kia Ora Aotearoa.
