UK: Firefighters battle hangar blaze at London Southend Airport
Fire crews responded to a callout at London Southend Airport, Wednesday, where a large fire had broken out in an aircraft hangar.
The hangar reportedly housed no planes at the time of the blaze and the airport itself remained unaffected with services continuing as normal.
The fire is believed to have been started accidentally, although an investigation is underway to pinpoint an exact cause.
No injuries have been reported.

STORYLINE
Stranded British tourists continued to flock to the northern Spanish port of Bilbao early on Thursday, hoping to board ferries that will bring them home after long delays caused by a volcanic ash cloud which forced the closure of much of Europe''s airspace.
A day earlier, more than 2,000 weary Britons had packed a ferry and headed home for England.
The ferry, which normally takes 1,000 people on a 30-hour trip to Portsmouth in southern England, carried around 2,200 people and asked strangers to share sleeper cabins.
Also on Wednesday, Royal Navy ship the HMS Albion, picked up 450 British troops and 280 stranded passengers from the Spanish port of Santander.
The Albion is normally a floating headquarters and home for British Royal Marines commandos.
For the last six days most flights had been cancelled due to the volcanic eruption in Iceland on the 14 April which sent a plume of ash across Europe, bringing many airlines to a grinding halt.
The crisis left (m) millions in flightless limbo, creating huge losses for airlines and other industries.
Most of Europe''s airspace was reopened on Wednesday after the vast, invisible ash-laden cloud dispersed to levels deemed safe, but airlines have been struggling to meet demand after a week of crippled air travel.
With a massive flight backlog, officials say it could take over a week to get everyone home.
Many desperate travellers have been piling onto buses, trains and ferries, with thousands converging on the French port of Calais in a bid to get home.
Airlines expect losses topping two billion (b) US dollars and have sharply criticised European governments'' handling of the disruption that grounded thousands of flights on the continent.

Thanks for finding my video and pressing play!
In this video I take one of Europe’s forgotten trains - the Enterprise. This is the service connecting the two Irish capitals, Dublin in the Republic with Belfast in Northern Ireland. The journey takes around 2 hours and 15 minutes on the fastest weekday services.
This is an international train, as Northern Ireland is part of the UK. The open and invisible border between the two means our journey is seamless and easy, with no passport or customs checks needed.
First Plus - now seemingly also branded Enterprise Plus - is very comfortable indeed and is well patronised. In fact, on this trip there were a number of senior MLAs (members of Northern Ireland’s devolved Parliament) on board, though they aren’t pictured! One of the reasons this train feels roomy and comfortable is the fact that Irish trains run on a broader gauge - rails are five feet apart as opposed to European gauge used in Britain of four feet eight and a half inches.
Autumn and winter aren’t the best for filming - lots of reflections and it being dark outside made for a fair amount of unusable footage....argh.
For those of you who like to keep track of this sort of thing, yep - I took this journey immediately after my Newquay to Dublin flight with Aer Lingus!
Enjoy the report.

UK: LONDON: MICHAEL DOUGLAS'S NUCLEAR CONFLICT WARNING
English/Nat
US film star Michael Douglas issued a stark warning of the dangers of nuclear conflict on Monday when he addressed British lawmakers in the Houses of Parliament.
Douglas, visiting London in his capacity as a United Nations peace envoy, said he wanted to see massive cutbacks in nuclear weapons.
But reporters appeared more interested in his fiancée, British actress Catherine Zeta Jones.
One of the most famous faces in the world, guaranteed to make every front page and bring T-V crews out in force.
That's why the United Nations has chosen Michael Douglas to be one of its so-called Messengers of Peace.
And the message from the movie superstar was clear - the spread of nuclear weapons could destroy the entire planet.
Asked whether he was speaking out simply to draw attention to himself and his fiancée Catherine Zeta Jones who are expecting their first baby, Douglas said he'd been drawn to the nuclear issue because of his work on the film 'The China Syndrome' a quarter of a century ago.
SOUNDBITE: (English)
No, this is an issue which has been close to my heart for many, many years, and I've been concerned on this issue for the last 25 years, really since the China Syndrome.
SUPER CAPTION: Michael Douglas, Actor
Douglas declined to comment on U-S President Bill Clinton's current visit to India and Pakistan, where he's expected to urge restraint over the nuclear flashpoint of Kashmir.
But he made his opposition to nuclear weapons quite plain.
SOUNDBITE: (English)
Douglas: I'd eventually like to see a big reduction of nuclear weapons around the world. That would be my strongest wish.
Question: And what is Catherine doing tonight?
Answer: I don't know. She's probably taking it easy. She's in Los Angeles and will be joining me very soon.
SUPER CAPTION: Michael Douglas, Actor
The actor's message was endorsed by British foreign office minister Peter Hain.
SOUNDBITE: (English)
Michael Douglas adds his popular voice to those of governments like Britain who want to see nuclear weapons controlled and ultimately eliminated worldwide. It's very important, with increasing numbers of states acquiring nuclear weapons capability, with terrorists getting access to them, to control the spread of nuclear weapons. Otherwise humankind will be obliterated.
SUPER CAPTION: Peter Hain, British foreign office minister
Douglas is expected to pursue the nuclear issue when he meets British Foreign Secretary Robin Cook on Tuesday.

Thanks for finding my video and pressing play!
Not many people I speak to have positive things to say about Southend Airport. They often criticise the fact they attached “London” to the name. But then again, not many people I’ve spoken to have actually flown from there!
It’s actually a very smart and efficient regional airport. Add in the fact that it has its own railway station with a direct link to London, a mere stone’s throw from the terminal, a 4* hotel round the corner, and the fact it isn’t Gatwick or Stansted and you’ve got a pretty pleasant experience. I hadn’t been through Southend for a few years and it was good to be back. Regional airports are a good thing and we’re lucky to have plenty of them in Britain - including some top class ones like Newcastle and Southampton.
The ATR is a great aircraft. I like the quirk that you board from the rear - this makes seats near the back unusually prized, though many people still select front seats out of habit. On this trip I had yet another empty seat next to me. I’m on quite a roll at the moment.
This was a perfectly calm winter’s afternoon. A good day to be flying, especially as cruising took place at just 16,000 feet. There are a number of old airfields and landmarks I point out along the way, as usual...
**Very special thanks to Elliot Szlato, a subscriber and Snapchat follower, who generously offered me a promotional code he wasn’t able to use. Southend Airport had been offering free flights to promote this very new route from the airport. Much appreciated!**
I have lots of videos coming out, including in midweek in the run up to New Year. This is to use up all my reports shot on iPhone before I start afresh in January 2018 with a proper camera. Make sure you have your notifications set! ????
Enjoy the report.
