Say hello to Lady Daw Saw Nan Wei, a 125-year old python housed in a temple in Bago, Myanmar who is believed to be the reincarnation of a Shan Princess. She doesn't do much besides occasionally yawn whilst being worshipped by pilgrims, but every 40 days she's fed 10 chickens. So she has that going for her.

Myanmar journey: 2. Snake Pagoda or Hmwe Paya - HD
Officially called 'Yadana Labamuni Hsu-taungpye Paya', this pagoda is generally known by another name: 'Hmwe Paya', or ‘Snake Pagoda’. It is located in Paleik, a small town about 20 km from Mandalay, and houses two huge pythons that are happily rolled on both sides of the Buddha statue.
The ‘Snake Pagoda’ was built in 1974. According to a legend, a Buddhist monk from the ancient pagoda of the place saw two large pythons circling around the Buddha statue. He took the pythons, returned them to the jungle and forgot the matter. The next day the snakes returned, along with a third python. Once again, the monk took them to the jungle, but the snakes kept coming back every day. This made the monks believe that the pythons were possibly souls of reincarnated monks, so they decided to take care of them.
When the original snakes died, their remains were preserved in the pagoda, but the faithful donated new snakes.
The two pythons that live today are fed a pot of milk and three eggs every five days, as well as a small amount of goat meat. Every morning at 11:00 a.m. they are bathed affectionately.
The pythons have never harmed anyone and they seem to love being touched by visitors.

The Snake Pagoda is in Mandalay, Myanmar. A little bit far from Mandalay city, so it is hard to go to there. You must hire a car or bike taxi.

Bago Snake Monastery (#Myanmar / #Burma)
A story goes that a revered monk had a dream that the python you can see snoozing in this monastery was the reincarnation of a nat; another is that it is the reincarnation of the monk himself.
Either way, more than 125 years later, the self-same python has grown to be at least 17ft long and a foot wide, making it probably one of the largest snakes in the world. No wonder locals flock here to pay their respects and shower the sleepy snake with gifts of cash.

I am following a guy and I'm guessing his wife to a department store where I can begin to replenish my supplies as I had just lost half of my stuff on the road to Bago. She is in the pink of the motorcycle. Nice guy. I was standing by the road and he asked if he could help. I told him the story and he told me to follow him.

I lost the commentary about that snake pagoda. Basically the people believe that snake was once a human and she came back as a snake to help. Being that the python is not out in the wild, its almost impossible for her to shed her skin naturally because of the lack of friction from moving through the trees and across the ground.
A Trip to the Ancient City of Bago - Myanmar
Bago is an ancient city and some of the temples here date back to 1057AD.Please bare with this video you'll just how friendly the Burmese people are.
Although filmed in 1080p I didn't notice my camera had reset itself to 25 frames Oper second, so Im a bit gutted about the quality because FPS is much more important.
