Snapchat adventure to Vietnam - Ho Chi Minh, Saigon! Episode 2
Here are some details and tips related to the video!:
1. The currency can be confusing so be sure to check clearly the prices you are negotiating, initially the motorbike driver asked for 15 which we assumed was 15,000 because they don't usually include the ,000 when quoting you prices. But he later asked for 1.5 million Dong! A total scammer and con man.
2. Don't bother going to the amusement park. You have to pay an entrance fee and on top of that you have to buy an additional ticket for each attraction.
3. Don't bother with the China Town market (Binh Tay) as well. Ben Tanh was good enough.
4. Bought bus tickets for Mui Ne to Nha Trang to Hoi An to Da Nang for USD 18 per person.
5. We arrive on 24th at 1.30am but I booked my room from the 23rd, therefore we had a room. A group of girls arrived the same time as us but booked their room from the 24th and so they had to wait till the afternoon to check in.
6. We were very lucky that Mui Ne Hills upgraded our room from their Budget Hotel Standard Double Room for USD15 per night to their Bliss Hotel Family Room valued at USD80 per night!
23 Things To Do In Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City) Vietnam

When I was in Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City), along with eating as much Vietnamese food as I could, one of my goals was to film a travel video about some of the best things to do in Saigon. After putting together a complete list, it turned out to be 23, and I hope this list of attractions will help and inspire you to visit Vietnam’s largest and most exciting city.
1. Binh Tay Market - Binh Tay Market is one of the largest wholesale distribution markets, and a perfect place to go if you’re looking to go shopping in Ho Chi Minh City.
2. Thien Hau Temple (Pagoda) - Located in Chinatown, in District 5, the temple is dedicated to Thien Hau and I really loved the sculptures and the elaborate design of the temple.
3. Museum of Ho Chi Minh City - This museum offers a glimpse into the history and development of the city and Vietnam.
4. Bitexco Financial Tower - This is the tallest building in Saigon, and you can either go to the Skydeck or a cafe at the top for a view of the city.
5. Independence Palace (Reunification Palace) - Probably one of the most well known tourism things to do in Saigon is to visit the Independence Palace, the the former home of the president of South Vietnam during the Vietnam War.
6. Saigon Cathedral of Notre Dame - With the French influence in Vietnam, the Notre Dame cathedral is a beautiful Catholic church. Attend a service or just visit.
7. Central Post Office - Designed by Gustave Eiffel, the Central Post Office in Ho Chi Minh City is an attraction mainly for its design and architecture. It’s a beautiful building.
8. War Remnants Museum - Although this is not one of the happiest attractions in Saigon, it’s a place to remember and honor the horrible events that are a result of a war.
9. Opera House - Right in Dong Khoi area, and there are still opera shows available.
10. Dong Khoi Street - This is the height of high end shopping in Saigon.
11. Saigon Zoo and Botanical Gardens - The zoo itself is not too great, but the beauty of the Saigon zoo is the botanical gardens, and the lush gardens, and taking a break from the city.
12. FITO Museum (Museum of Traditional Vietnamese Medicine) - I was quite impressed by the Vietnamese medicine private museum - very interactive and educational.
13. San Art Laboratory – If you love modern art, the San Art Laboratory is a great place to see and visit in Saigon.
14. Turtle Lake at Night - If you’re looking for some things to do at night in Saigon, head to Turtle Lake to chill out, relax, hang out with friends, and eat snacks.
15. Ben Thanh Market - One of the most famous things to do in Saigon District 1 is visit the Ben Thanh Market, one of the major central landmarks of the city.
16. Phu My Hung and Starlight Bridge - Located outside of central Ho Chi Minh City, Phu My Hung is a modern development, and a great place to walk around.
17. Water Puppet Show - Though originally from the north of Vietnam, water puppet shows are popular also in Saigon. I went to the Golden Dragon Water Puppet theater.
18. Museum of Vietnamese History - Probably one of the most extensive and important museum showing the history of Vietnam and Ho Chi Minh City.
19. Rooftop Bar - Seeing Saigon from above offers a great perspective.
20. Fine Arts Museum - This was my favorite of all the museums in Saigon. The museum is housed in a well preserved building, and the art is amazing - located right in District 1 across the roundabout from Ben Thanh Market.
21. Jade Emperor Pagoda - Dedicated to the Jade Emperor, the pagoda has a real ancient feel to it, and it’s worth seeing when you visit.
22. Local Wet Market - One of my favorite things to do is visit a local fresh wet market, which you’ll find all over the city. The ingredients, food, and culture, all stand out at fresh markets.
23. Vietnamese Street Food - By my ultimate favorite activity in Saigon is eating street food, and there are an abundance of delicious Vietnamese street foods to sample.
Thank you for watching this video about the top 23 things to do in Saigon, Vietnam. I hope it has given you some great ideas to help you plan your visit.

Ride with me thru Crazy Saigon Traffic ????Motorbikes Today in Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh City Travel 2017
Riding motorbikes in Saigon! I just love it. That feeling of being in a hot fumigated sea of motorbikes cruising like a school of fish thru the concrete jungle. So exotic, so interesting. All the colors, all the sounds, all the people. You see something new every minute:)
We cruise around the streets just showing a small peek of what it's like. Starting in District 1 and ride over the bridge near Bitexco Tower over to District 4 near our hotel / Airbnb. Crazy views from above as well. Quite the colorful urban neighborhood. Enjoy;)

Protestors In Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City) Demand Accountability for the Dead Fish in Central Vietnam
Protestors In Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City) Demand Accountability for the Dead Fish in Central Vietnam
This is a first-person vlog I created on May 1st, 2016.
I followed the protest in Saigon between 9am and 11:30am, capturing some interesting moments.
------------------
Highlights include:
0:26 - First sighting of the protestors
2:20 - I join the protest
5:37 - Tensions boil over with police
7:50 - Recap of the protest
------------------
Protests in Vietnam are rare. Really rare.
The Communist run country has no protected right-to-asssemble and very limited free speech in its media.
Today though there were major protests in Hanoi, the Vietnamese capital, and Saigon, where I live. I was close enough to get a lot of pictures and speak to a few protestors about why they were there.
Where: Near the Cathedral, the Opera House, Ben Thanh Market. It was moving around, guided all the way by police
When: Saw the march moving around 9am, could still be on going. I stayed near it from around 9 - 11am.
Why: Environmental protest against the dead fish in central Vietnam. But also, according to one source I spoke to today, simply an anti-gov't corruption demonstration. He said at one point the crowd was chanting: CLEAN WATER, CLEAN GOVERNMENT; DIRTY WATER, DIRTY GOVERNMENT
What I saw: Big crowd of people marching down toward Ben Thanh. Maybe 1000 people? I had to park my motorbike and when I met up with the crowd again it appeared to be smaller.
As the day went on most was peaceful. Police were around, but just barricading certain roads, guiding the protest where they wanted it.
But at one point the march wanted to cut back toward the big walking street (facing statue of Ho Chi Minh and Opera house) and the police were blocking it. Then I saw the most incredible moment of the day. Some pushing and shoving, eventually resulting in the crowd BREAKING THROUGH the 20 or so police, and continuing their march.
Police, to their credit, did not use their batons or do anything that could have agitated the crowd or caused more violence.
By this point the crowd was getting smaller and those left were getting louder. The possibility of a mass-arrest appeared to be rising, just because the police now outnumbered the protestors. So I dipped out, happy to have a bunch of footage and have spoken with a few people in the crowd.
Will you tell our story? one Vietnamese girl asked when she saw me filming.
Well... I'll try.

Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City) Vietnam Nightlife on Bui Vien Walking Street
I've arrived in Vietnam and will be heading straight to Bui Vien Walking Street to find a hotel and check out this crazy party street. I heard it's quite popular with backpackers which proved true but I definitely saw a lot more Asian tourists than Western.
First impressions of this street had me thinking it's even more lively than Pattaya's Walking Street, though I haven't been there for quite a while now. It's cheaper too with local beer in the bars costing around $1.20 - $1.80.
Hotels were also cheaper than what I've been used to in Pattaya at less than $20 and the high availability of super cheap hostels makes this an ideal destination for travellers on a budget. I saw some hostels advertised at just $5 per night.
Massage girls are plentiful and look to be charging $5 - $6 per hour. Extras can be negotiated for which I will cover in the next video.
The plan is to spend a couple of nights on this street before going over to another, quieter nightlife area for the remainder of my trip.
