Snow Dog Sledding Myvatn Nov 2019v2
Snow dog sledding near Lake Myvatn, Iceland in the early winter months of November. Snow was still limited around the area and not full winter which would allow the snow sledding to be trackless and without boundaries. It was a mix of snow and ice at certain parts of the sledding path. The sledding started around 11am after some dogs interaction before the sledding fun begins.

11D10N Winter Iceland Ring Road
The furthest trip with my college friends, to the land of ice. Only 5 hours of daylight, we had to chase the sun everyday. Thank you to the men who took the wheels throughout this holiday!
Day 1
Touched down Reykjavik & collected our Citroen Spacetourer that we rented from Trifty at ISK264,045. Visited outside of Hallgrimskirkja Church in the dark although it was just late afternoon.
Day 2
On part of the golden circle route where we watched the sunrise at Þingvellir National Park, witnessed an actual geysir ejected, signed up for the adrenaline pumping snow mobiling with snowmobile.is at -11°C, where we also caught the sunset, and finally the Gullfoss, the iconic waterfall of Iceland.
Day 3
Waterfall hopping day, we visited Seljalandsfoss, and then Skógafoss, where a stunning rainbow was captured as water cascades down. After a filling lunch, we start on a long & boring 4km walk to Sólheimasandur plane wreck, from an old airplane crash in 1973. Terrain was fairly easy, but the cold weather made the walk difficult. There was literally nothing in sight until 40 mins later. We had an awesome view of sun setting behind the plane.
Day 4
After countless waterfall, we were excited to visit a different type of attraction - Jokulsarlon glacier lagoon. Huge ice bergs twinkling under the sun on the clear waters. A different feast for our eyes.
Day 5
We ventured into the glacier with adventures.is. We were fully equipped with hiking tools rented with the company. It was a great way to see the glacier and a cave, and probably much more worth it than paying the same amount of money to just see a larger ice cave as many of the other tours in the area offer. The ice cave was small, but still stunning and there was only our small group of about 12 in it.
While we were there, we hiked up to the Svartifoss too. Not too taxing, but the last 15 mins was very slippery and requires proper shoes. The waterfall was frozen but still beautiful and highly recommended.
Day 6
Long drive from the morning all the way to evening where we checked in to Seydisfjördur.
Day 7
Another long drive to lake Mývatn, also frozen. Hence we were able to walk on the lake!
Dog sled with snowdogs.is was the most memorable activity. Pretty sure they were 100% charged with positive energy. We rode into the sunset, admiring the vast white scenery all around. 2 hours on, we were introduced to them in the kennel, their spirits still high. The dogs are well cared for, no injuries visible on them. They seemed genuinely happy & excited to meet us!
Day 8
Dettifoss is probably the most powerful waterfall in Europe. Search for the Dettifoss Parking West carpark and from there, it's a 30 mins walk to the fall.
Visited the Grjótagjá cave, 1 of the filming location of GOT. Cave was dark and misty but invitingly warm.
Spent our night at Mývatn Nature Baths, where geothermally heated pools and steam baths are. Not as crowded as blue lagoon and equally amazing. You could order beverage and staff would serve it to u in the pool.
Day 9
Goðafoss is very wide and ring-shaped, and conveniently located right off the highway. A short 5 mins walk from the carpark brings you to 1 of the viewpoint. That afternoon, we checked in to Hvammstangi and that's where we saw the highly anticipated northern lights! Green & purple lights dancing in the sky right above our cottages, such a spectacular sight.
Day 10
Kirkjufellsfoss is probably the most popular water in every Iceland travel poster. Our drone took flight to capture the gorgeous waterfall & mountain together.
Ytri Tunga in the late afternoon at low tide, where the seal colonies are! Spotted a few of their heads bobbing out of the water.
Day 11
Back to Reykjavik where we finally entered the grand blue lagoon. We were given locker key and towel. The restrooms fully equipped with shampoos & hair conditioners. The pool was not as warm as expected. Probably because it was also snowing while we were there.

Here's a quick video of a retouching session. I took this image of the famous Gullfoss Falls in Iceland a few weeks ago. It's a beautiful place!

Safari Iceland Ep.1 of 4-
This time around I take my Safari series to the beautiful country of Iceland. I had to see why the Vikings traveled so far in dangerous cold waters to inhabit this land. First stop was the city of Reykjavik and lake Tjornin, filled with gulls, ducks and geese.

Driving from Akureyri with river and mountains - Iceland
This is on the north side of Iceland. The river is flowing to the north between mountains. I drove from Akureyri to Reykjavik. The scenery from Rekjavik to Akureyri is spectacular the whole way, represented in this video which shows a slice of that scenery.
Generally in Iceland, there are grass fields as far as the eye can see, which wave like the green waves of the sea. In the distance are mountains. There are cliffs of rock so high they cannot be climbed. There are waterfalls coming over the cliffs in many places. There are volcanic cones of tephra, rock and ash. There are valleys with rivers that meander, with horses and sheep grazing on the grass. There are fish - salmon and trout. There are many kinds of birds - I saw a bay full of swans. hundreds. I saw water boiling out of the ground with steam and sulphur. There are many kinds of wild flowers everywhere, and trees. There are beaches made of black pebbles where the ocean waves pound and disappear into the pebbles like foam. There are some people here with white hair like bone, and grey eyes, and others with red, blonde or black hair. There is ice as thick as a house. And there are cows and goats. There are other places here that I did not visit, but I was told that they are wonderful too.

It should be pointed out that this is certainly not the ideal way to do a Iceland Ring Road trip, or to see Iceland in general. But life is unpredictable, and this is the experience we had. This video should not be seen as an endorsement of trying to see such a vast and unique place in such a short time-frame.
Beyond the obvious sightseeing reasons for avoiding such a tight schedule, there is the even more important factor of SAFETY. The wrong combination of unfortunate weather, the wrong vehicle choice, and a simple mistake could make for a very uncomfortable or unsafe situation. Weather in Iceland can change on a dime, and winter conditions can make those changes even more extreme. In our case we had the right combination of events occur to allow us to safely complete our Ring Road experience. However, things could have gone completely differently. We were willing to keep an open mind and had several contingency plans.
There is a very real chance on a schedule this tight that you could end up missing your return flight home. While that would be terrible, it is a far better alternative than taking unacceptable risks and getting yourself or others hurt. Please be safe and realistic when planning your own adventures!

A Little Trip to Iceland 2015
In June, my friend and I rented a car in Reykjavik, Iceland and drove the Ring Road--a highway that forms a perimeter of the country. Full itinerary in the down bar...
A more detailed plan: we started our journey in Reykjavik (day one: obviously the Blue Lagoon) and went clockwise. We boldly drove from Reykjavik to Akureyri, stopping at basically every pull-off we saw; then Akureyri to Myvatn, where we saw the surprisingly huge volcanic forest, lake Myvatn, Krafla (a volcanic activity harnessing plant), Viti crater, mudpots; then Myvatn off the Ring Road up to where we gazed at the Arctic Circle and drove through snow and beautiful fjords, ending in Egilsstadir; then we went Egilsstadir to Borgarfjörður Eystri to see the puffins and then to Seydisfjordur to drive down the same road Walter Mitty rode is skateboard; then we went from there to Hofn, where we were joined by other people on the road and a ton of ice caps, where we snowmobiled (only after taking a weird snow train) on Europe's largest glacier, and saw incredibly beautiful mountains AND shorelines; then we drove to Vík, where we saw basalt columns, black sand beaches, many a red church, cliff-lined shores, and a wrecked plane; then we drove the Golden Circle, where we saw Gullfoss, Geysir & it's accompanying Strokkur (filmed), where we stood between the two continental plates of Eurasia and the North Atlantic at Thingvellir National Park. We were so sad to rejoin civilization on our way back to Reykjavik for a couple more nights in Europe's northernmost capital, but happy to have had such a great road trip. In Reykjavik we found ice cream, more hot dogs, a beautiful and FUN city, an amazing tour guide of Iceland's pride, their Harpa, and Bjork (yes we found Bjork!!!!). Seriously, thanks so much, Iceland, for a fantastic trip.
This is all filmed on a Go Pro Hero3, with some shots from my Canon Rebel T3i.
