Snow Valley Mountain Resort:
Ski resort in San Bernardino County, California
Snow Valley Mountain Resort is a ski resort located in Running Springs, California, United States. It is the oldest continually operating ski resort in Southern California and is also one of four ski resorts in the San Bernardino National Forest.
Originally named Fish Camp for the pond located in the area, the site was developed into a roadside resort and lumber mill in the 1920s. In the 1930s the slopes were developed for tobogganing and skiing by the Arrowhead Springs Corporation, which named the development Snow Valley. The resort featured one of the first overhead cable ski lifts. In 1940 the resort was purchased by Norwegian-American ski jump champion Johnny Elvrum, who expanded it.
In 1974 W.R. Sauey became the owner of Snow Valley. His company the Nordic Group owns and operates Snow Valley.
The resort operates under Special Use Permit from the United States Forest Service.

Lake Tahoe is a wonderful place to visit during winter. In this video we drove around the lake and we went to ski. We caught the snow storm at the end of our trip and got stuck on the highway for many hours.
Heavenly Ski Resort has a magical view from 10,000 feet. We will return to ski more days.
Hope you enjoy our video!

Snowy Drive From Big Bear To L A Happy Birthday Mary Jane Big Bear Lake CA @ NOAH'S TRAVEL S2E1
The drive up the hill can take anywhere from 1 to 4 or 5 hours. It is important to know that there are three Highways that come up to Big Bear. Most people are familiar and use what we call the “front way” up to Big Bear. This is the route up to Big Bear on Hwy. 330, which intersects Hwy. 18 in Running Springs and then up to Big Bear. While this is the quickest way during normal traffic and driving conditions, there is nothing normal during winter. Using this route during the winter is playing against the odds. The other routes, which can take 15-45 minutes longer during normal traffic and road conditions, can be a lot quicker during the winter months. Taking Hwy. 38 from the Redlands area is my best bet during winter. There is generally a lot less traffic on this route and a more enjoyable drive. The other route is through the high desert, Victorville and Lucerne Valley area, from Hwy. 15 to Hwy. 18 and up the “back way” to Big Bear. This is probably the safest bet to eliminate traffic and less mountain driving. Both of these routes drop into the east end of the Valley, near Big Bear City. It is all a bit of a gamble, but as they say in Big Bear, “going east is least,” so I would be taking the latter two options prior to heading down the “front way”. This especially applies to those who come up for the day to go skiing, look at property, or just enjoy the mountains. Bring chains and other items. Check the road conditions. Don’t park or stop on/along the Hwy.
BNSF Freight Trains through the Snow in Northern Arizona - January 2019
In early 2019, Northern Arizona got tons of snow coated on the scenic landscape. Running right through all of that, is the BNSF Transcon, known as the Seligman Subdivision. This transcontinental rail line carries the majority of the BNSF rail traffic between Southern California and the Midwestern part of the United States.
I spent 3 full days along the Seligman Subdivision, focusing on the snow covered area between Flagstaff and Williams, Arizona. This is some of the highest elevation along the line.
Trains were flowing one after another, and the scenic locations were endless. I hope to return to this area one day in the near future, a very scenic area that's for sure!
Thanks for watching!

Squaw Valley USA
Recorded June 20, 1999.
The Squaw Valley Ski Resort in Olympic Valley, California, is one of the largest and most high-concept ski areas in the United States, and was the site of the 1960 Winter Olympics. It is the second-largest ski area at Lake Tahoe (after Heavenly), boasting highly-advanced chairlifts, as well as the only Funitel in the United States. Because of the resort's popularity, the entire community of Olympic Valley is commonly referred to as Squaw Valley. The resort attracts 600,000 skiers a year. Its usual run for skiing is from mid-November to late May.
Perched atop the Sierra Nevada, with a base of 6,200 feet and spread across 6 peaks and 4,000 acres, Squaw tops out at 9,050 feet above sea level at Granite Chief. With bountiful maritime snowfall--often receiving 40 or more feet in a winter, amounting to snowpack depths of 200 inches--and steep, granite-laden terrain, Squaw Valley is a mecca for Big Mountain, or steep, skiing.
This video captures my summer time visit to the area and is mostly taken from the aerial tramway.
The Squaw Valley Aerial Tramway is a 1.5 Mile long aerial tramway. It was inaugurated in 1968. On April 15, 1978 a disaster occurred when one of the cables of the aerial tramway fell down, one of which partly destroyed the cabin. There were 4 deaths and 22 people were injured.
