Winter in Fins Lapland: Ylläs
In het noorden van Finland, boven de poolcirkel, ligt het wintersportgebied Ylläs. Het bestaat uit zeven bergen en de twee dorpen, Äkäslompolo en Ylläsjärvi.
Naast een klein skigebied is er een uitgestrekt netwerk van langlaufloipes aangelegd door het prachtige landschap van het Ylläs-Aakenus Nationaal Park. Ylläs is uitermate geschikt voor de vakantieganger die van rust, ruimte en kleinschaligheid houdt.
Ylläsjärvi is geliefd vanwege de langlaufmogelijkheden en de directe toegang tot de skipistes. Na een dag in de frisse buitenlucht is het goed toeven in Lapland Hotel Ylläs Saaga Hotel dat direct aan de skipiste ligt.
Äkäslompolo is wat groter dan Ylläsjärvi en bekend en geliefd vanwege het langlaufen. De loipes lopen pal voor uw vakantiewoning langs waardoor u vanuit uw vakantiewoning zo de natuur in kunt glijden.
Het Lainio Snow Village ligt niet ver van Ylläs. Een spectaculair nachtje in een sneeuwkamer is iets wat je niet mag missen!

Lainio SnowVillage is a hotel made out of snow and ice! Each year, the hotel is rebuilt again. In 2020, the theme of the hotel is 'Illusions'. You might know the hotel for it's 'Game of Thrones' theme a few years back. The SnowVillage is situated in the middle of the forest near Lainio, Kittilä, 30 min drive from Ylläs or Levi resorts. You can visit it from mid-December to early-April every year! The hotel is part of Lapland Hotels.

Explore and Learn About the Ice Hotel Snow Village at Kittilä, Lapland, Finland.
The Snow Village Ice Hotel at Kittilä is one of the most spectacular places I've ever visited.
Each year thousands of tons of snow and ice are used to build the Snow Village. Each summer the entire Ice Hotel melts. Each winter it is rebuilt. And the cycle continues.
The Snow Village features various chambers, including an enormous dining hall, a beautiful chapel, a cocktail bar, and numerous themed bedrooms, all lit by dramatic, colorful lights.
Exploring the labyrinthine passageways of the Ice Hotel is an experience of a lifetime!

Also we have cut it just as we are about to kiss as a second later the photographer walks in front and blocks it on the camera.

Why we love winter - Discover Lapland
Famous for its endless amount of snow, Lapland is a winter destination like no other. We arrived in Kittilä airport and spent most of our time near Ylläs. Some of the things we got to do includes; snow shoe hiking, visit to an ice hotel featuring Game of Thrones sculptures and checking out a husky farm with all its puppies and furry friends. We stayed at a small cabin through Airbnb, had a BBQ-session in a traditional Finnish kota, took a snow bath and had sauna. Even though we just got to spend a weekend in Lapland it made a solid impression and really showed how wonderful it looks as snow covers the entire scenery.
