Sogod Bay, Philippines - April 2019
We went back to one of our favorite places, Sogod Bay in Southern Leyte, Philippines. This time we brought along our regular travel buddies, who had never been to the Philippines. What a great place to start! It was fantastic, as always. We saw beautiful reefs and walls, as well as participating in some fantastic muck diving. Here are some of the things that we saw while we were diving there:
Special thanks to Philip, Dave, Pedro, Annalyn and the rest of the staff at Sogod Bay Scuba Resort. We will be back!

Sogod Bay, Southern Leyte, Philippines - May 2017
I recently spent just over a week diving in beautiful Sogod Bay. It is one of my favorite places in the world to go diving. They have a perfect combination of beautiful, healthy reefs and fabulous muck diving, sometimes at the same dive site. I stayed at Sogod Bay Scuba Resort in Padre Burgos. It is such a great operation. Every thing you need is right there. The rooms are clean, comfortable and quiet, the food is great and the staff is wonderful. This was my second time at Sogod Bay Scuba Resort and I will certainly return.

Baybay City // The Longest Coastline in Leyte
With an area of 45,934 hectares, it is the second largest city in the province after Ormoc City. Formerly, Baybay was the biggest town in Leyte in terms of population and second in terms of land area, after Abuyog. The Baybay language, a Visayan language distinct from both Waray-Waray and Cebuano, is spoken in the city itself.
Baybay is a major port on the central west coast of Leyte, Philippines, where ferries leave for Cebu and other islands. It has also the Baybay Public Terminal, which serves routes from Tacloban, Ormoc, Maasin, Manila, Davao City and some other major towns in Leyte, Southern Leyte and Samar provinces.
It is the home of the premier university of the Visayas and also in Philippines and one of the leading schools in Southeast Asia on agricultural research, and was called as Resort University, the Visayas State University.

Timelapse Study Sogod Bay, Southern Leyte Philippines
During our annual family christmas/new-year's vacation, we went to Southern Leyte for some diving. During this time, I decided to try out a new field of photo/videography that caught my eye recently. Timelapses. So, with my acquisition of a cheap third-party intervalometer, I set out to make my first study.
I honestly have no idea what i am doing. How can i make my future timelapse scenes better?Suggestions/comments would be most welcome!
All timelapse scenes done with a Canon EOS 7D.

Whale Sharks in Pintuyan, Southern Leyte - Chasing These Wild Gentle Giants Roaming in Sogod Bay
Locals call it tiki2x or in my town, we call it iho-tiki. Tiki is the Cebuano term for a lizard. Whale sharks look like lizards, so that's why we call it that way. Last February 2018, I was able to join an event for whale shark watching (well I prefer using the word term chasing) in Pintuyan, Southern Leyte. We spent about 2 hours in the deep blue sea chasing whale sharks. These gentle giants are usually visible in Sogod Bay, particularly in Pintuyan for their migratory season (usually from November to May).
The huge difference between the whale sharks in Oslob, Cebu, and Donsol, Sorsogon is that the Pintuyan whale sharks are not fed with krills. They are literally roaming wild and finding planktons on their own. There's that thrill in chasing those whale sharks while still keeping the dos and don'ts in mind.
Full story of the Pintuyan whale sharks chasing at
