Places to see in ( Port de Soller - Spain )
Port de Sóller is a village and the port of the town of Sóller, in Mallorca, in the Balearic Islands, Spain. Along with the village of Fornalutx and the hamlet of Biniaraix they combine to form Sóller. A tramway links the inland town of Sóller to Port de Sóller, running along the beach-side road.
Port de Soller consists of shops, restaurants but is quiet and away from the major tourist areas such as Magaluf on the south of the island. There are a few large holiday hotels such as Hotel Eden, Hotel Esplendido and Aimia Hotel, located on the road that runs around the bay. Two lighthouses sit on the headlands on either side of the bay, La Badia de Sóller. Development on the east headland has been prevented by the area being used as a training ground by the Spanish Army.
The beach sand of Port de Soller was replaced for the summer of 2009 because, whilst clean, it had become rather muddy and inhospitable. The tramway connecting the town to Sóller opened in 1913 and is about 5 km long. Some of its original, 1913-built cars are still in service on the line. A bus service links the resort to Palma, the capital of the island.

Day trip to Port de Soller,Majorca
Port de Sóller (Catalan pronunciation: [ˈpɔɾd də ˈsoʎə]) is a village and the port of the town of Sóller, in Mallorca, in the Balearic Islands, Spain. Along with the village of Fornalutx and the hamlet of Biniaraix they combine to form Sóller. The combined population is around 12,000. A tramway links the inland town of Sóller to Port de Sóller, running along the beach-side road
The resort consists of shops, restaurants and bars but is quiet and away from the major tourist areas such as Magaluf on the south of the island. There are a few large holiday hotels such as Hotel Eden, Hotel Esplendido and Aimia Hotel, located on the road that runs around the bay.

The beach sand was replaced for the summer of 2009 because, whilst clean, it had become rather muddy and inhospitable.
The bay and the estuary of the river which comes to an end here attract little egrets, Muscovy ducks, huge flocks of herring gulls, greylag geese and mallard ducks. The diversity of breeds in the duck and geese population suggests that most of the original birds had escaped from captivity.
The tramway connecting the town to Sóller opened in 1913 and is about 5 km long.[1] Some of its original, 1913-built cars are still in service on the line

Sóller is a town and municipality near the north west coast of Mallorca, in the Balearic Islands of Spain. The town is some 3 km inland from the Port de Sóller, in a large, bowl-shaped valley.
A famous tram, the Tranvía de Sóller operates in the town, linking Sóller to the Port de Sóller.
Sóller is linked by the historic railway, the Ferrocarril de Sóller, and by a highway with a toll tunnel, to the Majorcan capital of Palma.

Trams+views Soller+Port de Soller, Mallorca Sept 2016
Without the trams this would be just another holiday destination. There are fun to look at They originated in San Francisco. The weather was hot (5th Sept) 35*C. Mosquitoes may visit late at night. This is a safe, clean friendly resort with the added advantage of having fun trams pass by at half hour intervals at a slow pace. It costs 6E one way from Port de Soller to Soller. On route the tram makes all kinds of noises and rattles especially at a road crossing. The sea is calm and it is safe for swimming. The Marina Hotel offered excellent food, reasonabaly priced and outdoor music most nights.Caro Spiller+Nicolas (attemisa.acustia) are the group in the picture. She is from Argentina and spending the summer at the resort hoping to make a dime. Their coffees were excellent. Wherever there was food a cat was never far away. One night I had sardines a cat came beside me with his tongue hanging out the side of his mouth.

MALLORCA 2015 - Soller by Night
The small town of Soller is packed with tourists from Palma during the day due to the old train that brings them there through the mountains. Whet the last train leaves after 6pm the locals come out to play. Here's a typical moment on the main square that I filmed from our restaurant table. Enjoy.

Description:
Welcome to Mallorca
Arriving in Palma, I was surprised at how beautiful the city is.
Santa Maria Cathedral is the main attraction. It is built over the city walls of Palmas old town. The entrance fee is 8 euros and it is open Monday to Saturday from 10am.
So we have stopped off at Mara Lyns to have some tapas, sangria and listen to the Spanish guitar. Gracias.
The old town is small and is easily explored through the narrow streets.
The plaza mayor is surrounded by cafes, restaurants and it frequently has market stalls.
The train from Palma to Soller takes about an hour and costs €25 per person and the views on this scenic route are beautiful.
Soller lies inland a couple of miles from the Port. and If you’re driving the journey takes roughly 30mins. There is a car park next to the Port de Soller beach. It’s a small beach which has palm canopies for a shade that contain safes to store your belongings while you take a dip. This seems to be a feature at several beaches in Mallorca.
Soller is very popular and it’s a prime destination especially coming from Palma on the vintage train. The Placa Constitucio is a great place to relax and take in the atmosphere, filled with tapas bars and coffee shops.
I drove to Sa Colobra along one of the most breathtaking landscapes in the world, the Serra de Tramuntana mountains. This road with hairpin, twists and turns has been featured on top gear. This is very popular with cyclists and people come from miles to drive this exhilarating road. Even though it looks daunting, I felt comfortable taking on this epic route.
There are a few pit stops along the way where you can stop off to enjoy a coffee and take in the amazing views.
The roads are narrow and on several locations, there is only enough room for one car to pass.
Arriving at Sa Colobra it’s a short walk to the main beach torrent de Pareis which you get to via several narrow tunnels.
Exiting the tunnel you are instantly hit by the spectacular view. The mountains surround this popular and unique pebbled beach.
The water is crystal clear and turquoise blue. However, there are no water sports and no facilities to rent loungers or umbrellas. The Torrent de Pareis is a UNESCO world heritage site
Hiking to this beach is also possible from Escorca which can take up to 6 hours and is one of the top canyoning destinations in the world.
Cala Figuera has one of the most remote beaches in Mallorca which is only accessible on foot. It is a steep 20 minutes hike down to the beach which strangely enough is inhabited by mountain goats that like to steal your food.
But take care as there were many jellyfish in the sea.
Cap de Formentor beach was my favourite beach on the island. The sandy beach here was clean and the water was calm. Although, parking here is expensive and so are the amenities.
The mirador Es Colomer is an incredible panoramic viewpoint where you can stop off before getting to the Cap de Formentor lighthouse. The breathtaking views on this winding road to the lighthouse is a must. But parking can be difficult as it’s popular with tourists.
The Formentor lighthouse is found on the north-east peninsula of the island and it is the highest lighthouse in the Balearic Islands. Although it’s not open to visitors you can walk around it, taking in the panoramic views. Parking here is very limited so I would advise you to come early. There is a cafe here, where you can have some rest bite before taking the long winding journey back.
I stayed in Sentido punto del mar hotel in Santa Ponsa which offered stunning views of the island. The sunsets on this part of the island were unforgettable.
To explore this amazing island I would recommend hiring a car which you can easily organise at the airport.
I was surprised at how beautiful this island is and would recommend exploring this island to its fullest.
