Die Söllereck Talstation liegt oberhalb des Oberstdorfer Teilorts Kornau. An der Bergstation angekommen, liegt etwas oberhalb die Berggaststätte Schönblick (Nomen est Omen).
Nach weiteren 10 Minuten bergauf, erreicht man eine urige Bergalm mit Bewirtung und Käseverkauf.

Oberstdorf is a town in Germany's Allgäu Alps known for skiing and hiking. Nebelhorn cable car climbs the slopes of Nebelhorn mountain. In summer, Fellhorn mountain's cable cars have views of alpenroses. Cross-country skiing trails and footpaths traverse the valleys. Walkways lead past waterfalls in the Breitach gorge. Erdinger Arena and Eissportzentrum Oberstdorf host winter sports like ski jumping and ice skating.

Spectacularly situated in the western Alps, the Allgäu region feels a long, long way from the rest of Bavaria, both in its cuisine (more Spätzle than dumplings) and the dialect, which is closer to the Swabian of Baden-Württemberg. The Allgäu’s chief draw is the car-free resort of Oberstdorf, a major skiing centre a short hop from Austria.

Wanderung vom Söllereckhaus über den Sattelkopf (1422 m) zur Hochleite (1200 m) und Abstieg ins Stillachtal nach Schwand. Weiter über Heini-Klopfer-Skiflugschanze, Freibergsee und Renksteg nach Oberstdorf.

Walk from Söllereckhaus over Sattelkopf mountaintop (1422m) to Hochleite (1200 m) downwards into Stillachvalley to Schwand. Further passing Heini-Klopfer-Skiflugschanze, Freiberglake and Renksteg back to Oberstdorf.

Oberstdorf is a municipality and skiing and hiking town in southwest Germany, located in the Allgäu region of the Bavarian Alps. Oberstdorf is one of the highest market towns in Germany. The southernmost point in Germany is located in the municipality of Oberstdorf . At the center of Oberstdorf is a church whose tall spire serves as a landmark for navigating around town. The summits of the Nebelhorn and Fellhorn provide dramatic panoramic views of the alps. The Nebelhorn can be reached with a big cable car. Visitors can ride a unique diagonal elevator to the top of the Heini-Klopfer-Skiflugschanze.

Oberstdorf consists of the village of Oberstdorf (813 metres above sea level, survey point by the Roman Catholic church) and five other villages:

Kornau , 915 m. In the vicinity is the Söllereckbahn and the Chapel of St. Fabian and St. Sebastian which is rich in art treasures.
In Reichenbach (population: 226) is the 450-year-old Chapel of St. James and the Moorwasser swimming pool.
The little hamlet of Rubi has 175 inhabitants.
Typical of Schöllang are the farm houses around the Baroque onion tower of the parish church. In the vicinity is the 1531 castle church.
The village of Tiefenbach takes its name from trees called Bergkiefer. The village lies on a terrace above the Breitach stream. Tiefenbach has a centuries-old spa tradition thanks to its sulphur spring. As early as the late 15th century counts and other high-ranking people convalesced here to cure their illnesses.

There is a large number of valleys in the area around Oberstdorf, many of which are not only scenic, but are often starting points for walks in the mountains. The following list shows the main valleys together with their side valleys:

Oytal and Dietersbachtal are separated by the Höfats and Rauheck. Gerstruben, Germany's highest village, lies at the entrance to the Dietersbachtal. The Rappenalptal is the longest and runs from Germany's southernmost village, Einödsbach, past the Haldenwanger Eck, Germany's southernmost point. At the end of the valley the Schrofen Pass leads to Austria.

The Allgäu Alps in the area around Oberstdorf attain heights of over 2,600 metres and belong to the Northern Limestone Alps. The best known summits in Oberstdorf are:

Himmelschrofen 1,791 m
Höfats 2,259 m (the most prominent Allgäu grass mountain)
Kratzer 2,427 m
Großer Krottenkopf 2,656 m (highest mountain of the Allgäu Alps)

Rubihorn 1,957 m (local mountain)
Schattenberg 1,845 m (by the eponymous ski jump)

Skiing at Fellhorn in Germany (Oberstdorf-Kleinwalsertal)

Watch this video to see what it is like to ski/snowboard on the Fellhorn mountain, just next to the village of Oberstdorf, Germany. The Fellhorn is part of the Oberstdorf-Kleinwalsertal ski area, partly in Germany and partly in Austria.

Footage shot on January 15, 2019. There was an insane amount of snow, and due to extreme snow fall, Fellhorn was closed the day before. I was lucky to be able to ski on fresly prepared slopes!

My first ever video with a GoPro! Well, apart from the one I did sat in a car driving to Bavaria, but this was more fun!

Söllereck is one of the ski areas near Oberstdorf, southern Germany. Gabriel, Linda and I had lessons there as it had been a good few years since any of of us had skied properly. It isn't the best area we have ever been to, mostly as after a Gondola ride up the mountain all of the other lifts are horrible T bars, but as a place to get back into skiing it was good enough. The best part was Martin, our teacher, was brilliant.

This was the only chance I had to use the selfie stick GoPro mount, as Gabriel and I went up for a sneaky run before the lessons on the second day started. Unfortunately the T bars had hurt Linda's knee so she had the Tuesday off, so there is no footage of her skiing.

Oh dear, that means we have to go skiing again!!!
