Best Western International, Inc., operator of the Best Western Hotels & Resorts brand, operates over 4,100 hotels and motels worldwide. The chain, with its corporate headquarters in Phoenix, Arizona, operates more than 2,000 hotels in North America. The brand was founded by M.K. Guertin in 1946. David Kong is the president and CEO of Best Western and Dorothy Dowling is the chief marketing officer.
In 1964, Canadian hotel owners joined the system. Best Western then expanded to Mexico, Australia, and New Zealand in 1976.
In 2002, Best Western International launched Best Western Premier in Europe and Asia. (The other hotels in the chain were known as Best Western.) In 2011, the chain's branding system-wide changed to a three-tiered system: Best Western, Best Western Plus, and Best Western Premier. Since it no longer operates under a single brand, Best Western concurrently modified its slogan in 2011 from the world's largest hotel chain to the world's largest hotel family.
In May 2018, Best Western Hotels & Resorts celebrated 'A Rewarding 30 Years' with the milestone anniversary of Best Western Rewards
Marlborough (often spelled Marlboro) is a city in Middlesex County, Massachusetts, United States. The population was 38,499 at the 2010 census. Marlborough became a prosperous industrial town in the 19th century and made the transition to high technology industry in the late 20th century after the construction of the Massachusetts Turnpike.
Marlborough was declared a town in 1660. It was incorporated as a city in 1890 when it changed its Municipal charter from a New England town meeting system to a Mayor–council government.
A hotel is an establishment that provides paid lodging on a short-term basis. Facilities provided may range from a modest-quality mattress in a small room to large suites with bigger, higher-quality beds, a dresser, a refrigerator and other kitchen facilities, upholstered chairs, a flat screen television, and en-suite bathrooms. Small, lower-priced hotels may offer only the most basic guest services and facilities. Larger, higher-priced hotels may provide additional guest facilities such as a swimming pool, business centre (with computers, printers, and other office equipment), childcare, conference and event facilities, tennis or basketball courts, gymnasium, restaurants, day spa, and social function services. Hotel rooms are usually numbered (or named in some smaller hotels and B&Bs) to allow guests to identify their room. Some boutique, high-end hotels have custom decorated rooms. Some hotels offer meals as part of a room and board arrangement. In the United Kingdom, a hotel is required by law to serve food and drinks to all guests within certain stated hours.[citation needed] In Japan, capsule hotels provide a tiny room suitable only for sleeping and shared bathroom facilities.
Christopher Allen was recorded as marshal of Marlborough in 1638 and married to Mary Wetherbee. John Howe, Jr. in 1656 was a fur trader and built a house at the intersection of two Indian trails, Nashua Trail and Connecticut path.[4] He could speak the language of the Algonquian Indians though the local tribe referred to themselves as the Pennacooks. The settlers were welcomed by the Indians because they protected them from other tribes they were at war with. In the 1650s, several families left the nearby town of Sudbury, 18 miles west of Boston, to start a new town. The village was named after Marlborough, the market town in Wiltshire, England. It was first settled in 1657 by 14 men led by Edmund Rice, John Ruddock and John Howe; in 1656 Rice and his colleagues petitioned the Massachusetts General Court to create the town of Marlborough and it was officially incorporated in 1660. Rice was elected a selectman at Marlborough in 1657. Sumner Chilton Powell wrote, in Puritan Village: The Formation of a New England Town, Not only did Rice become the largest individual landholder in Sudbury, but he represented his new town in the Massachusetts legislature for five years and devoted at least eleven of his last fifteen years to serving as selectman and judge of small causes.
Marlborough MA: Schindler MT Elevator Macy's Solomon Pond Mall
Marlborough: Schindler Hydraulic Elevator @ JC Penney, Solomon Pond Mall
This time, I SUCESSFULLY FOUND the Elevator in JC Penney, at the Solomon Pond Mall, Marlborough, Massachusetts.
The way it was placed, with the narrow doorway, it just blends in with the dressing rooms scattered about. That's probably how I missed it the first time.
Needless to say, I figured out what it was, before I got there, and was right: a Schindler MT.
This is the only elevator in the mall with a fancy design on it, similar to other MT's found in other malls, and similar to Simon Mall elevators, runs like crap.
NOTE: The severe shaking on the 2'nd round trip was from leaning against the elevator, so it's sway translated to arm movements.

Hampshire Mall - Raw & Real Retail
This is our walkthrough of the Hampshire Mall from January 23, 2019. This is a bittersweet tragic story where by The Pyramid Company finds itself with a dead mall on their hands, so they do what they think they need to do to stay current, they rip out any interesting architectural features and put in a lot of entertainment venues like bowling alleys, laser tag, go carts, etc. The food court was transformed into a sort of New Orleans type town center motif and while some might find this charming, I personally think it looked way better before.
Check out our ongoing series of dead and dying shopping malls!

Please do check out this excellent writeup from the Caldor Rainbor blog, it was done pre-renovations and has some excellent pictures of what the mall used to look like:
For brevity, here is the wikipedia article:
Hampshire Mall is a primarily one-story shopping mall with a small second floor in Hadley, Massachusetts, United States, with approximately 55 stores owned by The Pyramid Companies. Current anchor stores include Dick's Sporting Goods, JCPenney, PetSmart and Target. The mall is home to Interskate 91 North, a roller skating rink on the second floor. Attached to the skating rink is LaserBlast: Ancient Adventure (a Lasertag facility that was formerly home to LaserStorm).
When the mall opened in 1978 it was anchored by JCPenney, Steiger's and Kmart.
The Steiger's store was demolished in 1994 for Media Play. The Media Play store opened August 10, 1995. Kmart closed in 2002 because of the chain's bankruptcy. In 2003 the former Kmart space was rebuilt and extended to house a Target store. Originally the mall contained a six screen movie theater that existed from 1978 to 1999. This was then expanded to a 12-screen Cinemark movie theater in 2000.
A 45,000 sq ft Dick's Sporting Goods store opened in early 2005, replacing a former Eastern Mountain Sports. Best Buy and Steve & Barry's replaced Media Play in early 2005. Steve & Barry's filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2008 and subsequently closed their Hampshire Mall store in August 2008 and it replaced by the racetrack.
Walmart developers beginning in 2005 wished to build a new 212,000-square-foot Supercenter southeast of Hampshire Mall. However, there have been various hindrances as a consequence of a bylaw designed to keep out large stores by restricting new stores to 75,000 square feet. After two years of negotiations, on November 20, 2007, a subdivision plan that exempted the planned Walmart Supercenter from the current bylaw restrictions was approved. Developers have eight years to get a site plan approved before the exemption expires. This would almost certainly mean the current store, attached to the east end of Mountain Farms Mall, would close.
In February 2009 Buffalo Wild Wings opened a store between Target and Best Buy. The restaurant got into a dispute with the mall because of an alleged faulty roof that led to a buildup of condensation on the premises. The Pyramid Corporation did not agree to carry out repairs and as a consequence some amount of the rent was withheld. Whether the restaurant never paid any rent or did pay some rent is disputed. The case is currently in litigation. On July 29, 2010 they announced that they lost their lease as of August 1, 2010. The space is now closed. Platterpus Records closed down its store in March 2010. In June 2010 the store reopened in Easthampton, Massachusetts. In August 2015, it was announced that Best Buy would close their doors on October 31 and in 2016, Spirit Halloween opened in the former Best Buy space for 2 months.PetSmart opened in the former Best Buy space in April 2017.

Here are some clips from the Natural Living Expo in Marlborough, Massachusetts. We were there for two days giving the message of divine love, offering free spiritual healing, and granting Dhikr (Invocation of the Heart) of various divine mantras to people of all faiths. The response was overwhelming! Our booth was constantly busy and many people immediately felt the divine energy and power of Lord Ra Riaz Gohar Shahi upon receiving our message.

Holyoke Mall: Vintage Aesthetics wins the day - Raw & Real Retail
This is our walkthrough of the Holyoke Mall in Holyoke, MA from January 2, 2019. This is a large, thriving mall originally designed by The Pyramid Companies that hasn't been renovated to death and still retains much of its 1970s charm. There is wood paneling galore, and the flooring architecture is more than just utilitarian, and showcases angles that catch the eye when walking. This is the sort of mall that feels really great walking around, and just hanging out doing nothing, soaking it all in.

Here is a brief history from Wikipedia:
The Holyoke Mall at Ingleside (a.k.a. Holyoke Mall) is a shopping center located in Holyoke, Massachusetts, in the city's Ingleside neighborhood. The mall features nearly 200 stores, a large food court, and several restaurants and is 1.6 million square feet.
The mall has four parking garages and used to feature unique architecture such as wood paneling, wooden benches, a dome with purple lights, a box-spiral staircase with holes that leads to the Café Square level, and a stone-shafted elevator. The mall underwent cosmetic upgrades in 2015, which included new floors, lighting, and benches throughout the mall. Located near the interchange of I-90 and I-91, the Holyoke Mall is one of the primary shopping destinations in Western Massachusetts and attracts many out-of-state visitors.
Anchor tenants include: Macy's, JCPenney, Target, Best Buy, Round 1, Hobby Lobby, Burlington Coat Factory, and soon to be Cinemark.
The mall opened in 1979 with G. Fox, JCPenney, Sears, Service Merchandise and Steiger's, as the original anchors. The mall was expanded (and slightly renovated) in 1991, adding an entirely new wing to the mall with a relocated G. Fox (later Filene's, now Macy's) being constructed at the end. At the time it was expanded, it was billed as the largest mall in New England. It is owned by The Pyramid Companies. Around this time Lord & Taylor announced a location to open at the mall by November 1993. Pyramid in 1998 proposed a 1,400,000-square-foot (130,000 m2) expansion that would have added a 20-screen cinema complex, but this attempt was blocked by the city. Lord & Taylor closed citing market conditions in early 2005. In August 2007 Apple opened a store. Pottery Barn and Sephora opened stores in the mall in 2008. Pottery Barn opened up in part of the upper floor of the former Lord & Taylor store. In April 2009, Forever 21 considerably expanded their store (it became a flagship store XXI Forever) in the lower floor of the vacant Lord & Taylor; the upper floor was subdivided. At the time it was the largest Forever 21 in Massachusetts. Sports Authority closed in 2016 after filing Chapter 11 bankruptcy. On November 28, 2017, it was announced that a Cinemark movie theater would be coming to the mall. In April 2018, the Babies R Us closed permanently. Forever 21 moved into a smaller space on the upper level near JCPenney and Best Buy on July 21, 2018. On August 22, 2018 Sears announced that its store would be closing as part of a plan to close 46 stores nationwide. The store closed on November 25, 2018.

Worcester: Midtown Mall Tour, by Request
By many requests, here is a quick tour of the Midtown Mall, just a block away from the former Galleria/Fashion Outlets Mall (now City Square), Worcester, Massachusetts.
They did try to make it look very nice, trying to give it that outdoor feel, with the fake rooflines. None of the stores are the big chains, rather, Mom and Pop.
There was one spot where audio was muted, due to strong copyrighted music in the background, and yes, I do actually repeat that they tried to make this place look nice, in the original audio. That's not a goof on the dubbing.
Since we couldn't get to the 2nd floor right off (people hanging around the staircase), we look at the basement next, then take the long trip back to show it last.
