The grandpa died some time after this documentary. May he rest in peace. I'm uploading this, because it remains the most heartwarming video I have ever seen. And will ever see. Someday, I hope to make a heartwarming documentary of my own. For now, I am just the skit maker Lonewolf Shayu and a writer.

In this episode, we explore three historic capitals of Iran: Persepolis, with its splendid monuments; Shiraz, with the tombs of Iran's most beloved poets; and Isfahan, with its extraordinary mosques and endearing people.

THE NATIONS ARE MAD! IRANIAN/PERSIAN WOMAN TWERKING FOR FREEDOM
Iran’s views on dance became more notorious last year with the release of “Desert Dancer,” a biopic dramatizing the life of the Iranian dancer Afshin Ghaffarian, and co-starring Freida Pinto (in the sweet black outfit above). Ghaffarian’s story is a dramatic vessel to tell the larger one of the law, which disallows women from dancing in public, co-ed dancing, and flesh-baring costumes. The restrictions are at odds with Iran’s recent history as a cultural center, home not so long ago to the Middle East’s most celebrated ballet company. The tide changed in the 1970s with the Iranian revolution; now experimental dancers are lucky if they can escape as Ghaffarian did. The Iranian national fled to Europe where he tours today — but in interviews, he says he hopes someday to be allowed back home.

The Pilot-part 4- The life of Shahid Abbas Dowran (IRIAF)
بسم رب الشهدا
کجايند مردان بی ادعا؟
عباس،عباسِ دوران ,حسين فهميده ی آسمان
Shahid(Martyr) Abbas Dowran was one the bravest Iranian f-4E pilots during the imposed war. He was known as a man of few words fearing nothing but God. In Oct 1980 , along with his comrades Shahid Khal'atbari , Shahid Yassini and Shahid TalebMehr, he played a major role in destroying the Iraqi Navy. In 1982 when Israel invaded south Lebanon, Dowran was the first pilot to volunteer to carry out possible strike missions into Israel. As a major mission planner of IRIAF, he also carefully crafted the mission plans for striking Israel, some of his plans still kept secret by IRIAF to be used later in case of a possible future conflict.
When Saddam wanted to host the 7th Summit of Non-Aligned Movement in Baghdad in 1982, Dowran took the lead to prevent the summit from taking place, showing to the world that Baghdad Airspace is not safe. On July 21 1982 ,after bombing Baghdad refinery, he entered Baghdad airspace through heavy fire. His plane was hit with two SAM missiles. His Radar interceptor officer, Lt. Col. Kazemian, ejected from the plane and was later taken prisoner. Knowing that he was the most wanted pilot in Iraq and also the key IRIAF mission planner, he chose martyrdom, crashing his plane into Al-Rashid Hotel where the conference was to be held. Due to his heroic actions the summit was canceled and held elsewhere resulting in a major political blow to the world-backed Saddam.
Lest we forget those who did not return

Journey through Iran
In late 2013 I had the chance to travel through Iran for around 5 weeks, a great possibility to see more of a country that captivated my attention in previous years. Mostly making headlines for all the wrong reasons, there had to be more to a country with such a long and diverse history.
This travel video is a modest attempt to show some of the diversity that exists in Iran. It was edited in early 2014 and should be seen in a different (political) context than today's. The economic sanctions, that have recently been eased, were still very much in place. Many people were struggling to make a living, yet there always seemed a way to make things happen.
The openess and welcoming attitude of the Iranian people were probably the things that most impressed me. Walking the ancient bazaars was a great way to meet people and talk about daily life. Almost everywhere I went, I was received with a smile and in many cases a fresh cup of tea.
The video starts with a brief introduction of Iran's modern history. It then shows some different aspects of society, from the rural areas to the cities, from the country's broader economic picture to the role of religion.
It is by no means an attempt to give a full overview of Iran. You would have to read dozens of books, watch countless documentaries, and do more research. The best advice I can give if you want to learn more about this fascinating country, however, is to visit for yourself. No doubt, you will be surprised.
