Songo River Queen 2 passes the Songo Locks
A piece of history captured in its final glory. Thhe Songo River Queen II enters the Songo River through the Naples Causeway Swing Bridge, which the state of Maine is replacing with a fixed bridge under which the Queen will not pass, so this is footage from the final days of the river boat's ability to head up the river after which she was named. The operators are interested in public feedback on what to rename the boat now that it will be limited to the other side of the causeway, and their web address is at the end of the video.

Welcome to Sebago Lake, lake located in Cumberland county Maine.
With a surface area of just over 30,000 acres, Sebago is the state’s second largest lake and spans the towns of Baldwin, Casco, Naples, Raymond, Sebago, Standish and Windham.
Sebago holds the record for Maine’s deepest lake with a maximum depth of 316 feet. The lake is the primary water supply for the Portland Water District which serves about 15% of Maine’s population.
Sebago is a very popular lake for fishing. Fisheries include lake trout, smallmouth and largemouth bass, and landlocked salmon. Infact, Sebago was the original home of landlocked salmon and is one of the most suitable lakes in the country for the management of this species.
A popular legend on Frye Island tells of Captain Frye and his escape from a tribe of Native Americans in Portland. While being chased, Captain Frye came upon a large rock, now known as Frye's Leap, and had no way of going around it. Captain Frye made the decision to jump and escape to Frye’s island for refuge. Today, many people go to Frye's Leap to reenact the famous jump, though it is dangerous and illegal.
Recreational activities like boating, water skiing and swimming are extremely popular on Sebago Lake. In 1938, Maine opened Sebago Lake State Park (in the town of Naples) as one of its original five state parks. Today, the park is now 1400 acres, open year round, has facilities, two public boat launches and a 250 site campground.

Camping in December
We camped one great night in Harrimon State Park just south of Lake Sebago. We endured the wet wintry winds, built a sufficient shelter and celerated Christmas.
