Soswaewon Garden is a private garden from the Joseon Period where the beauty of traditional Korea is preserved. It was built by Yang San-Bo (1503-1557) after he gave up his success when his mentor Jo Gwang-Jo (1482-1519) was killed during a political strife. Soswaewon Garden presents itself as a clean and transparent garden where the righteous enjoy the life of anbinnakdo (being comfortable amid poverty and taking pleasure in and honest life style) surrounded by a bamboo grove.
Including peach trees, various kinds of trees and grass are planted on both sides of the stream while clear water flows down the foot of the garden walls. The log bridge above the valley adds to the charm of the scenery. The harmony between nature and the artificial waterfall is a sight to behold. Soswaewon Garden is 150m away from the main road. Passing through the thick bamboo forest, you will find the small valley and Soswaewon Garden on your left.

If you follow National Road No. 15 up from the Bamboo Museum, you'll come across a beautiful and exotic boulevard that looks like it is came straight out of a fairytale. This unearthly place is the Metasequoia-lined Road.
Metasequoia trees were planted along the street in the early 1970s when the Ministry of Internal Affairs officially designated the road as a boulevard. At that time, the saplings were only 3 to 4 years old and their branches stretched sparsely out into the sky; now, the trees have grown so high that they seem to block out the sun! Thanks to these stately trees, in 2002 the Korea Forest Service selected the boulevard as one of the most beautiful roads in Korea.
The 4 kilometer-long boulevard is located along National Road No. 24 and is one of the most popular driving routes in Korea, especially during summer when the trees' lush green leaves are at their height of beauty. Feel free to stop your car along the roadside to take a walk among these 10 to 20-meter-tall trees and breathe their fresh scent. Bicycling along this route and appreciating its real beauty at a leisurely pace is also highly recommended.

The five-story pagoda at Wanggungri in Iksan is an iconic example of the refined architecture during the Baekje period (18 BCE-660 CE).

Both agriculture and fisheries are well developed thanks to Gangjinman Bay and the Wolchulsan Mountain is known for its outstanding rocky landscape.
Gangjin has historically benefited greatly from its geography, and this is the reason why we went to visit the Sulloc Green Tea Plantation !
We also found a secret Korean garden and got our Lunch in a a traditional restaurant, trying the local speciality : NAMDO HANJEONGSIK !
