The Sothavilai beach beach is situated about 12 km from Nagercoil railway station and about 3 km from Sanguthurai beach. The Sothavilai beach is among the most famous beaches in the district of Kanyakumari, Tamil Nadu. The beach here stretches over 4 km which makes it one of the longest beaches in Tamil Nadu. It was also one among the most seriously affected areas of the district during the 2004 Tsunami. You can still see the damage near the sea.
You can spend quality time there. Since there is no rush you can take plenty of pictures and capture till you get tired. You can also have a good view of sunset.
It is different from most beach and it has no rush and has calm environment. Most tourist do not know this beach but preferred for those who seek calm. Very clean and kids would really love it. Nice beach to enjoy with family and friends during evening especially on weekends.

Sanguthurai Beach, Nagercoil, Kanyakumari district
Sanguthurai Beach, about 8 km from Nagercoil is a palm-fringed and sandy beach. Sothavilai Beach is another good beach, about 7 km from the heart of town. Both beaches were hit by the Indian Ocean Tsunami, but authorities have taken steps to improve facilities again. There is a very good lagoon (estuary - place where the river meets the sea) at Manakudy - 10 km from the town.
