Bristol, England - Travel Around The World | Top best places to visit in Bristol
Top best places to visit in Bristol, England
Bristol, the largest city in South West England, is one of the most interesting cities in the UK.
This city has an eclectic combination of architectural styles and is one of the most culturally vibrant towns in England. By locals Bristol is called Brizzle or Bristle.
A good place to start exploring the city is the Castle Park with the ruins of St Peter’s Church and the ruins of Bristol Castle.
This used to be a network of busy streets and shops until it was bombed during the second world war.
In the Old Town there are plenty of interesting buildings from most of the architectural periods of the UK.
In this neighborhood there also is the Queen Square, a garden with the Statue of William III.
A short walk from there is the St Mary Radcliffe Church.
Which has been a place of Christian worship for over 900 years.
But the most prominent church is the Bristol Cathedral.
Founded in the Norman era it is the seat of the diocese of Bristol.
Besides the cathedral on College Green are also the Central Library and the City Hall, the seat of local government.
Not far away from there is the Georgian House, a well-preserved example of a typical 18th century town house.
The next place to go is the city’s major museum, the Bristol Museum and Art Gallery,
And a landmark of the University of Bristol, the Wills Memorial Building.
Further along the same street are the Royal West of England Academy of Art and the Victoria Rooms.
Possibly the city’s most famous landmark, spanning the spectacular Avon Gorge and the River Avon at a height of 75m, is the Clifton Suspension Bridge.
On top of the Clifton Hill, right at the bridge, is a nice park and the Observatory with camera obscura and an entrance to the cave.
In Clifton district is one of the most expensive streets in the city.
Royal York Crescent, which was reputed to be the longest terrace in Europe.
The best place to see the city from high up is Cabot Tower on Brandon Hill.
From there, there is a nice view of the Old Town,
And Harbor.

Why Food At The Dollar Store Is Really So Cheap
How are dollar stores are able to sell food for so cheap and still turn a profit? The answer to that question is a calculated formula that dollar stores have devised to keep prices low, and we're going to break it down.
Location is the name of the game in business and if a company wants to be in the busy part of town it's going to cost them. However, it's not uncommon to see dollar stores in lower-income sections of a city, or in a totally rural area. It's a smart business move, and choosing to operate in areas that Target, Walmart, or Whole Foods won't bother to go has proven highly effective for the growth of dollar stores.
Opening and operating in these areas is simply less expensive and this helps keep prices down. Many dollar stores don't buy the land their stores are on either, which means that if they're not doing well, they can just pick up and move. If a Dollar General can keep the lights on and skip out on the pricey property taxes that a Publix is going to pay, it's going to be able to sell its food for much cheaper.
Watch the video to learn why food at the dollar store is really so cheap!

A City Secret - Bristol | Bullitain
Created by Ben Wray
Thank you for watching.
Me and Ben explored an old quarry that had been taken over by the force of nature. The rock face that I climbed to get up to the cave had little to no where to put your feet. Do not be as stupid as me and try to climb something like that as watching the GoPro footage back I could of very easily fallen and been seriously injured. Those roots would of never supported my weight. I aint no Tarzan.
But a massive thank you for 1000 subscribers :D

Victorian house renovation - Bristol 6 bed
SuperHomer Chris Preist talks about refurbishing a six bedroom Victorian house. This house is situated in the Redland area of Bristol and he lives in it with his wife and two children.
The process started with making the house more energy efficient so it would lose less energy. Internal wall insulation has been installed inside all of the external walls and under the floorboards on the ground floor. All the sash windows have double glazing.
The house has been draught proofed and is now relatively air tight for an older property. A Mechanical Ventilation and Heat Recovery (MVHR) system is being used to ventilate the home and recover the heat in the stale air and move it into the fresh air to keep the house fresh.
The quality of the existing gas central heating was improved, but the plan was to reduce gas use overall. So, solar hot water panels were installed on the roof to gather heat from the sun to heat the hot water and a wood burning stove was installed in the lounge to substitute some of the heat that the gas would otherwise produce.
The house had period features that the couple wanted to preserve and this made some of what they did quite challenging. When the internal wall insulation was fitted the contractors had to take off the period cornicing, cut it and refit. Some sections had to be replaced.
Fitting replacement double glazed sash windows was the most expensive of the changes they made. However, local estate agents felt this this would be the right thing to do. As people understand the benefits of double glazing, installing it would actually increase the value of the house significantly.
One of the benefits of the refurbishment is that the house now has a far more even temperature around it. The walls are warmer, there are no draughts and the MVHR circulates the air around the house. Because the temperature is so even they can comfortably keep it at a lower temperature than before.
Chris is both pleased with and disappointed by the MVHR unit that was fitted in the house. It really does help to keep the temperature even through the house and spreads the warmth from the wood burning fire. However, the unit is not as energy efficient as the one they would have preferred to have been sold (which would be Energy Saving Trust recommended) and it uses more electricity than they would like it to. It is still a net positive from an energy and environmental point of view but it could be much better.
The emissions from the house have been reduced from 12 tonnes of CO2 per year to 5 tonnes per year following refurbishment.
This house is one of the homes in the SuperHomes network of older homes that have been renovated by their owners to reduce carbon emissions by at least 60%. Most SuperHomes host public open days in spring or September. For more, visit Chris Preist's house.
How Dollar Stores Really Make Their Money
Every year, dollar stores see higher and higher earnings, but how can a store that seems like it's giving things away turn itself into a multi-billion-dollar enterprise? The answer is simple: that dollar isn't always the great deal it appears to be. Here are their secrets.
Whether times are good or bad, you can still count on people to flock to dollar stores because they have the one thing everyone loves: convenience. Sales for Dollar General are always on the upswing, with the chain seeing an increase of 3.7 percent between 2017 and 2018, regardless of the state of the economy. Take it from Dollar General CEO Todd Vasos, who had this to say about their regular customers:
We have seen no sign of trade out or trade up from our core customers. Even in a good economy, [they are] still looking for value and convenience.
So, basically, no matter how much money people have, they still want something that bigger grocery stores can't give them. Dollar stores are not just convenient because their items are cheaper, but also because there seems to be one on every corner — and that makes them perfect for a quick fill-in trip between your weekly grocery runs. These stores are also typically smaller than the ones in a big chain like Walmart, which means that you can usually get in and out with your emergency bag of dog food, a handful of snacks, or supplies for your kid's art project in just a couple of minutes. The fact that most people are on to this, means dollar stores are always making money — even if customers buy just a few things.
Watch the video to learn how dollar stores really make their money!
