In spring of 2017, researchers began a scientific inquiry into the origins of six, three-fingered mummies found in Nazca, Peru. Preliminary results from tests performed on the largest mummy's anomalous hands, cross-examined against the rest of the body, revealed no evidence to indicate a hoax. Scientists found the largest mummy, Maria, to be female and carbon dated her at roughly 1,700 years old.
The tedious work of placing the mummies' DNA in our fossil record, comparing it to modern and ancient humans has begun. As each finding yields more questions, find the latest news here.

The precursors of the Inca (full documentary)
Past the mighty Inca empire, various cultures developed their science , art and customs to astonishing degrees before being relegated to oblivion, swallowed by the passage of centuries and the splendor of the peoples who succeeded them. In the hands of most recent archaeological research will travel through time and history to show the mysteries of these brilliant civilizations.
So, will visit the ceremonial centers of Tiahuanaco culture developed in the sixth century AD in the region of the plateau, whose enigmatic sculptures and constructive forms baffle archaeologists and specialists. By delving into the remnants of the Moche find evidence of human sacrifice, polychrome reliefs on its walls hiding humans know its complex sandwiches and mummification techniques.
The Temples or archaeological sites in the thousands, but, unfortunately, are plundered by looters, who accompany, covered at night, in one of his clandestine excavations. The fruits of their plunder is sold pre-Columbian art dealers and shamans, who use fetishes in religious ceremonies in which usual intake mescaline in a preparation which they call San Pedro .
When we flew over the Pampa del Ingenio are revealed and lines drawings that remain carved in the floor. They are a little overwhelming and mark sundown constituting the world's largest astronomical book.
Finally, we can not miss the most important site of America in recent times: the tomb of the Lord of Sipan, which Walter Alba, archaeologist who directed the excavation, will talk extensively.

Incan Mummy Reveals Genetic Secrets From Before European Conquest
DNA extracted from a mummy found in the Aconcagua mountains has revealed that there may have been an unknown diverse lineage among the natives of the region prior to the arrival of the Spanish in America. The 500-year-old mummy was sacrificed in ritual called capochoca, where a seven-year-old Incan boy was offered to the Gods. The boys DNA, which dates back more than 18,00 years, has disappeared among modern South Americans, which researchers believe can be explained as a result of colonization. Jose Marcelino Ortiz and Nik Zecevic break down the science and discovery on The Lip News.

Nazca Drawings Peru - The Mysterious Nazca Lines of Southern Peru
The town of #Nazca was founded in 1595 about 800 years after the Nasca culture that thrived in the arid southern coastal region of Peru from 300 B.C. to 800 A.D.
The color and perfection of that ancient cultures ceramics are renowned around the world pots and vessels feature human and monstrous figures in bold poses and have retained their bright and warm color palette over the centuries.
They also produced the famed Nazca Lines, hundreds of #geoglyphs etched into the arid plateau that stretches more than 80 kilometers, or 50 miles, between Nazca and the town of Palpa.
The complexity and scale of the lines can only be fully appreciated from the air:
The enormous artworks range from simple geometric figures to enormous stylized hummingbirds, spiders, monkeys, fish, sharks, llamas and lizards.
The figures are considered Cultural Patrimony by UNESCO.
