03-28-2011 Fishermen's Memorial Sanctuary at Yaquina Bay State Park
Excerpted from carahines.com
Just after crossing the Yaquina Bay Bridge, one of the many beautiful bridges along Oregon's coast, I pulled over at Yaquina Bay Lighthouse park on the south end of the town of Newport. I parked in front of a small open-air chapel that, upon exploration, I discovered was dedicated to the memory of local fishermen lost at sea since 1900. It was a touching find, and I spent time studying the living, evolving shrine inside the chapel. Men. All of them men. Each one once a father, brother, husband, lover, son, friend now represented by pieces of paper, images, letters, poems and keepsakes from loved ones. Do men live life more fully alive, with less fear while they're here among us? Do they take bigger risks? Are they more willing to take on life at all costs, at the greatest cost? Are they more alive because of it? I wondered.

???? INDIAN BEACH OR. (Ecola State Park Oregon) drone 4k
The Ecola Point Site is an archeological site associated with the Tillamook people, located in Ecola State Park near Cannon Beach, Oregon, United States. Several ground depressions at the site have been interpreted by researchers as house pits, indicating the presence of a semipermanent village. Two dense shell middens have preserved extensive faunal remains, along with other artifacts. Radiocarbon dates taken at the site roughly span a period from ca. 1100 CE to ca. 1700 CE. The site has the potential to yield information related to environmental change in the Oregon Coast region, settlement and subsistence patterns, emergence of ethnographic patterns among coastal people, the change in cultural patterns from before to after contact with European Americans, and other topics.
The Ecola Point Site was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1997.

[Wikipedia] Moolack Beach
Moolack Beach (also Moolack Shores) is an undeveloped sandy beach on the Oregon Coast about 4 miles (6 km) north of Newport in Lincoln County, United States. It is almost 8 km (5 mi) in length with the south end at Yaquina Head and the north end at Otter Rock, the site of Devils Punch Bowl State Natural Area. The northern beach is the site of Beverly Beach State Park and the community of Beverly Beach. The beach has no obvious break delineating what would seem to be Beverly Beach, though Wade Creek is a likely candidate. The nearly ten foot (3 m) tidal range and seasonally-varying slope of the beach can cause the sandy beach to completely disappear at times; at other times it can be hundreds of feet wide. The beach is bounded by U.S. Route 101.
The name is from an Chinook Jargon word for elk. The area is rich with geologic history.

Ecola State Park, Cannon Beach, Oregon - YouTube
Not only is Ecola State park beautiful but even the drive into this unique place is spectacular. The road is narrow so big vehicles have to be careful when there is approaching traffic.
Two beaches, the first is a view point and the second is where the surfers are.

An absolutely calm and serene day on Devils Lake. The gentle lapping of the water against the dock combined with the sunshine gave way to reflections of a peaceful day.

The central Oregon coast is an amazing coast range. Great for RV's, camping, crabbing and many other activities. These pictures were taken south of Newport, Oregon, the majority of them in Seal Rock, Oregon, a very tiny coastal town.

Exploring Oregon's Coast and Hiking by the Pacific Ocean!
Yesterday my partner and I took a trip to the Oregon Coast! We went hiking in Oswald West State Park, and got to explore some caves and walk along a haystack rock when the tide was low. We finished the day by having a fruit picnic on the beach and watched the gorgeous sunset on a clear Oregon day.
Health is not just about what you're feeding your body food-wise! It's also about what else you're feeding your body emotionally, spiritually, environmentally, etc. Everything you watch, read, and listen to is absorbed into your cells. Our bodies crave the outdoors on a very primal level, and breathing fresh air and sunshine can significantly improve your mood!
Newport Oregon Aerial 4K
Newport is a city in Lincoln County, Oregon, United States. It was incorporated in 1882, though the name dates back to the establishment of a post office in 1868. As of the 2010 census, the city had a total population of 9,989, an increase of nearly 5% over its 2000 population; as of 2013, it had an estimated population of 10,117.[5]
Newport is the county seat of Lincoln County.[6] It is also the home of the Oregon Coast Aquarium, Hatfield Marine Science Center, Nye Beach, Yaquina Head Lighthouse, and Rogue Ales. In October 1962, wind gusts at Newport reached 138 miles per hour (222 km/h) before the wind gauge stopped working. This occurred during the Columbus Day Windstorm, which the National Weather Service has named one of Oregon's top 10 weather events of the 20th century.

Huge Wave Explosions! Shore Acres Storm Watching Oregon Coast
Shore Acres State Park is easily the best storm watching spot on the Oregon Coast and may just be one of the best spots in the world! The HUGE waves and resulting spectacular towering fountains of water (200'+) can be seen both north & south from many spots within the park. And, if you are lucky, you may get a glimpse of King Neptune or Poseidon, @1:20 in the video. Watching the waves crash in can be mesmerizing! If this sort of stuff is your cup of tea, 11 minutes is not enough! If you feel that all the waves look the same, skip to 8:00 in the video and watch from there.
Washington's Coastal Beaches Part II - Pacific Coast and Fireworks
Part two of an RV trip and camping around Washington's Olympic Peninsula visiting Salt Creek Recreation area tidal pools, Crescent Beach, and Crescent Lake, Ruby Beach, South Beach Campground, Quinault, and in Ocean Shores for Fireworks on the beach.
Part I
My first stop was the Salt Creek Recreation Area where I scored a great campsite with an ocean view. I also spent a day exploring the nearby tidal flats along the coast before sharing a beautiful sunset with some new friends.
Part II
As I traveled west along Highway 101, I couldn't help but stop at Lake Crescent, located right in the middle of the Peninsula. Lake Crescent's clear water and majestic surroundings made it a worthwhile break from the drive West.
After a brief stop in Forks, WA (made famous by the Twilight movies) I headed to the Pacific Coast. My first stop on the Pacific Ocean was beautiful Ruby Beach where I walked the beach and made friends with a couple fellow travelers visiting from California.
A short drive south along coast put me at the South Beach Campground. This quaint campground, operated by the National Park Service, is located right on the waterfront and costs a mere $10 per day. I decided to stay there a couple days and celebrate my birthday while I was there.
I eventually made my way to Ocean Shores, WA where I met up with my family. We enjoyed a relaxing few days, lit fireworks on the beach, and also enjoyed the many others doing the same.
Overall, it was a spectacular little trip. I had a great birthday, made friends along the way and spent quality time with my family. What more can you ask for. This is a trip I will definitely repeat.
THANKS FOR WATCHING!
Highway 101 - Southern Oregon Coastline
The Oregon Coast is more than a place, it's a state of mind. No place on the map of Oregon is marked as the Oregon Coast, but everybody knows that the 363 miles of coastline where the Pacific Ocean washes up on the state's western beaches is unlike any place else.
Highway 101 winds down the entire Oregon Coast from the Columbia River to the California border. Along the way, it passes through the old growth forests of Oswald West State Park, name for the Oregon governor who began the process of securing Oregon's beaches for public use. All but one of the famous McCullough bridges on Highway 101 are still in operation. The only one that has been replaced is across Alsea Bay at Waldport. Before the bridges were completed during the Great Depression, travel down the Oregon Coast required many ferry trips across the mouths of rivers.
Heceta Head - Oregon Coastline - Devils Elbow -
Heceta Head (pronounced Ha–SEE–Ta) is a headland that stands 1,000 feet (300 m) above the Pacific Ocean in Lane County, Oregon, United States. The Heceta Head Light is located on its south side. Heceta Head is named after the Basque explorer under Spanish Commission, Bruno de Heceta, who explored the Pacific Northwest in the 1770s.[1] The headland marks the end of a lower-lying stretch of the coastline to the south dominated by sand dunes; the coastline to the north is more varied.[2] Devils Elbow is the bay south of the headland at the mouth of Cape Creek, and with the headland formed Devils Elbow State Park, which is now part of Heceta Head Lighthouse State Scenic Viewpoint.
