Sydney to Brisbane Train Journey on NSW TrainLink XPT Vlog
A train ride from Sydney to Brisbane on NSW TrainLink XPT
XPT is a long distance interstate train which is operated by NSW TrainLink of New South Wales from Sydney and one of these routes are connecting Sydney and Brisbane in Queensland. I used the cheapest class fare on this train, the Economy Class costs $45 (non-refundable) and the 14 hour journey takes too long for me on a train like this but Australians think that these train journeys are considered medium.

GRAND PACIFIC DRIVE.
WELCOME TO THE GRAND PACIFIC DRIVE
One drive. One ocean. Endless Experiences.
Starting in the Royal National Park, less than an hour south of Sydney's CBD, the Grand Pacific Drive is a 140 kilometre scenic coastal drive taking you through rainforests, over the iconic Sea Cliff Bridge and through the coastal cities and townships of Wollongong, Shellharbour, Kiama and the Shoalhaven.
You can choose to make your way back to Sydney via the charming and alluring Southern Highlands or continue on to the Victorian border through the picturesque regions of Eurobodalla and the Sapphire Coast.
Treat the journey as a means to many ends. There are endless experiences to be enjoyed along the Grand Pacific Drive from adrenaline-pumping adventure activities to delicious food and wine, family discoveries, natural wonders and too many beaches to count!
SEA CLIFF BRIDGE.
See sea, cliff and so much more along the world famous Sea Cliff Bridge.
It's so much more than a bridge - shaped like a snake, majestically sweeping over the waters of the Pacific!
To drive it is exhilarating, but take the bridgewalk and you'll see deep into the aqua waters clear to the bottom, looking down on sealife like massive manta rays and every kind of water bird.
That's the sea, but look the other way at the cliffs and find the eagles living there. The ancient layers of the eastern edge of this timeless land.
It truly is one of Australia's most photogenic experiences!
ROAD TRIP IDEAS.
Dozens of drives, hundreds of adventures. You'll want to enjoy the Grand Pacific Drive again and again.
Don't make the mistake that it only takes you to Wollongong, the Shoalhaven and further down the coast.
Treat the Drive as a means to many ends.
The Grand Pacific Drive can give you all types of trips and adventures.
Explore these on our Road Trips page - a selection of road trips carefully created to suit all tastes and travel styles, from food and wine road trips, to adventure seeking, nature moments, family fun and the perfect day trip, weekend and week-long escape.

FOOD & WINE.
Wineries. Small bars. Orchards. Beachfront cafes. Oyster farms.
The Grand Pacific Drive is a dinner plate of delicious food experiences.
From picturesque beachfront cafes to Wollongong's buzzing small bar scene, the Shoalhaven's wineries and the eclectic mix of restaurants and eateries that dot the Drive, you'll find a plate to excite your taste buds.
Explore the region pages of Wollongong, Shellharbour, Kiama, the Shoalhaven, Southern Highlands, Eurobodalla and the Sapphire Coast to find some of the yummiest eats along the Drive.
FAMILY KODAK MOMENTS.
The one place you can keep the entire family happy.
No need to pack the family up and drive for hours and hours to have a holiday. Instead, pack them in the car and head along the Grand Pacific Drive.
You're bound to find an activity or spot to tickle everyone's fancy.
Enjoy a hands-on animal encounter at Symbio Wildlife Park, let the kids literally climb the walls at Hangdog Climbing Gym, let them learn to surf the waves for the first time with Pines Surfing Academy or splash about at Jamberoo Action Park.
Show them the view from the top at the Illawarra Fly Treetop Walk, or simply settle in with a picnic blanket and some hot chips at one of the millions (maybe not that many) of beaches dotted along the Grand Pacific Drive.
SLEEP TIME.
Hotels and motels, caravans and camping, apartments and homestays.
You'll find an accommodation option to suit every taste and price range along the Grand Pacific Drive.
From large, beach-front hotels to boutique bed and breakfasts, family holiday/tourist parks and camp sites with a view, there's a bed (or a place to put one) for everyone.

Trains around the Illawarra Part 2 - Port Kembla, Wollongong, Kiama & Shellharbour
Part 2 of my look at the Illawarra region sees us journey south of Wollongong to Shellharbour junction and Kiama. You will also see some footage from Port Kembla, which is the main rail hub in the region.
Filmed at Shellharbour Junction station was 8169 & 8135 on an empty Manildra flour train. Filmed 26/9/18.
A few days later on 28/9/18 I filmed another empty Manildra flour train as it passed through the coastal town of Kiama. 8169, 8135, 8144 & 8176, run number #9835.
At Port Kembla I filmed the arrival of the cement train, run number #1921, with 8128 providing the power. I filmed the train arriving and then shuntinh into the cement siding.
A short trip up the line I filmed an empty metropolitan colliery service with top and tail 82 classes 8241 & 8229.
To finish, I was back at Unanderra as MW2 empty steel train passed through, having travelled via the Illawarra escarpment line.
Details are in the captions, I hope you enjoy ????

The journey offers some of the most scenic views of the Sea from the train. Thousands of people travel from the Illawarra to the City vice versa and see this, yet they no longer appreciate the view of the coast as they are too busy with their work. But for those who seldom come here, it's a splendour!

Discovery Journey To The South Along The Coast From Sydney Australia ???????? - E29
Although I have travelled a lot in Australia, I have never had the opportunity to see anything more of the Sydney area. To close this gap, I got a rental car and drove after a journey to the west the day before in direction south along the coast. The journey went through the Royal National Park, Wollongong, Port Kembla, some smaller towns and finally to Jarvis Bay.

Sydney Sunday $2.60 Travel (Opal Card). Sydney - Wollongong on public transport.
Every Sunday, Sydney public transport has a max cap of $2.60 on its Opal Card. I decided to get out of town and explore the Southern Coast and the city of Wollongong plus a swim at the beach.
If you're new to Sydney, a great way to get out and visit new places for less that a cup of coffee.
