South Downs Light Railway “Pulborough” Loco 2019
A short video showing the 10 1/4 inch gauge South Downs Light Railway at Wyvale Garden Centre in Pulborough, West Sussex taken on Sunday 3rd March 2019. Today was the second day of operation this year, with steam locomotive “Pulborough in charge with both open and enclosed coaches. Their website states that “Pulborough” is an 0-4-2 freelance narrow gauge tank locomotive built by the Exmoor Steam Railway for the South Downs Light Railway Society in 2004. It was designed to cope with the tight radiuses and narrow clearances on the Railway whilst still being capable of handling heavy trains. The engine is owned jointly by the Society and a group of members. The colour scheme and name are those of the London Brighton and South Coast Railway which built the line to Pulborough and whose D3 class locomotive carried the same name. Volunteers have been replacing the track with heavier rail, although there is still a long way to go until this is complete. An area of land has been chosen for a turntable to be installed and work on this is currently progressing. The railway is certainly worth visiting, with a decent operating length, tunnel, impressive station, friendly volunteers and a lovely collection of locomotives. The garden centre also has a nice cafe and an indoor play area for children and Pulborough railway station on the Arun Valley Line is a 5 minute walk if visiting by train.

The South Downs Light Railway 2014
The South Downs Railway runs around the grounds of the Pulborough Garden Centre, well worth a visit on it's own with many different plants for sale and many items for the gardener. It also has a cafe.
The S D L R is a 10 1/4 gauge railway and runs for about 3/4 of a mile,an excellent ride.
This last collection of video's are all hand held sorry if they are unstable.

South Downs Light Railway “Arun” Loco 2019
A short video showing the 10 1/4 inch gauge South Downs Light Railway at Wyvale Garden Centre in Pulborough, West Sussex taken on Saturday 2nd March 2019. Today was the first day of operation this year, with diesel loco “Arun” in charge with both open and enclosed coaches. Their website states that “Arun” is a diesel hydraulic locomotive with an 0-4-2 wheel arrangement. The diesel engine is a 24 horse-power unit made by Kabota, this drives a hydraulic generator which in turn drives a hydraulic motor for traction. It is a freelance design built to suit South Downs Light Railway's requirements by Exmoor Steam Railways in 2016. It is fitted with air brake controls and a track sander to help the locomotive to climb the steep gradient in damp weather. Volunteers have been replacing the track with heavier rail, although there is still a long way to go until this is complete. I was in a fortunate position to get a guided tour of the railway and loco shed, which contained quite an impressive collection of narrow gauge and mainline locomotives, including “Pulborough”, “Peggy”, “Alice”, “Dunalastair”, “Flying Scotsman”, etc.

SOUTH DOWNS LIGHT RAILWAY SDLR COMPLETE RIDE
A day out & a complete ride of the entire track of the SDLR south downs light railway it is a 10 & a 1/4 inch gauge light steam railway based at pulborough garden centre west sussex & was a day out with a few of the G-SCALE SOCIETY GARDEN RAILWAY CLUB MEMBER FRIENDS.
Last year i was able to go on a behind the scenes tour of all of the non-public areas of the SDLR the south downs light railway the railway is a 10 1/4 gauge miniature steam railway based at the pulborough garden centre the railway also run a few diesel locomotive outline I.C combustion engine loco's too but of the most interesting it has to be those locomotives that are fired with coal & run on live superheated or saturated steam such as SDLR's resident loco's pulborough & peggy these are two identical in design narrow gauge steam locomotives built specifically for the SDLR light railway the steam locomotive pulborough so named after the sussex town where this garden centre is based is owned & operated by the SDLR south downs light railway company outright whilst peggy another identical narrow gauge steam locomotive is co-owned privately by SDLR south downs light railway society members whilst the SDLR is a private company & has to make money to pay it's way it is also a large garden railway society which you can join for a yearly subscription fee you could help to run the railway as well.

Pulborough Brooks, South Downs Walks In West Sussex - Quick Tour Stop Motion Walking
Pulborough Brooks, South Downs Walks In West Sussex - Quick Tour Stop Motion Walking
Pulborough Brooks Walk was about 4 miles in distance. The terrain of the route was a combination of field paths and tracks plus enclosed paths; a raised riverbank path; plus an access driveway and some short road sections. The walking was easy on level ground or gentle slopes. Route finding was quite easy with obvious paths, good waymarking and good landmarks. Some of the paths were a very muddy or waterlogged in places. There were 9 stiles to negotiate.
