South Shaolin Temple
South Shaolin Temple is located in Linshan Village, Jiulian Mountain, Xitianwei Town, Putian County, 17 kilometers away from the city, it is a garden scenic spot. South Shaolin Temple was built at the site of the old South Shaolin Temple, it has both the Buddhism Zen Temple air and the Shaolin Martial Art tradition.
South Shaolin Temple covers an area of 100mu, the yard area is 50.6 thousand square meters, and the building area is 16.3 square meters. The key structures adopt the imitation Song dynasty building structure, others adopt the imitation Qing dynasty structure. Now, Putian South Shaolin Temple has certain scale. The Main Palace, Tianwang Palace, Bell and Drum Tower, main gate, and the Paifang written by Zhao Puchu are grand and brilliant. Guzhu Temple, Xiawu Yard, Jiulian Rock, etc sorround South Shaolin Temple, and form a great temple group, reappearing the grand air of ancient time.
South Shaolin Scenic Spot has excavated rock carving of Tang dynasty and potter Chiwei of south tang dynasty. Putian South Shaolin Martial Art Cultural Festival is held every year.

It was recorded that Quanzhou Shaolin Temple was built then destroyed for three times. After the last devastation, it’s now rebuild in Quanzhou Qingyuan, foothills at its original location. A ground breaking ceremony was held on October 13, 1992, attended by people from Quanzhou and all walks of life Internationally to witness this great event. Representatives from six countries and regions of the International South Shaolin Wuzuquan Federation had joined hands in lying of the foundation stone. We start our journey in the historic city of Quanzhou, in southern Fujian where the Southern Shaolin Temple is located. There are, in fact, three Southern Shaolin Temples in modern China, as whether or not there even was one, or where it was is disputed by historians.
In this series I team up with Jesse Enkamp aka the Karate Nerd to travel to Fujian province, Southwest China. We are here to explore the arts of Southern Shaolin, particularly the arts of White Crane, Five Ancestors and Luohan. Martial Arts of Shaolin (Chinese: 南北少林, lit. Southern and Northern Shaolin) aka Shaolin Temple 3: Martial Arts of Shaolin, is a 1986 Hong Kong–Chinese martial arts film. It is notable as the only collaboration between film director Lau Kar-leung and actor Jet Li. The film was later released on Region 1 DVD by The Weinstein Company under the Dragon Dynasty imprint.
Production
The film is the third part of the successful Shaolin film series which began with the 1982 film, Shaolin Temple, and was followed by Kids From Shaolin (1984). However, although it stars many Mainland actors from either or both predecessor films (Jet Li, Yu Chenghui, Yu Hai, Hu Jianqiang and Huang Qiuyan), Martial Arts Of Shaolin uses a Hong Kong production crew from Shaw Brothers Studio, in contrast to the other two films (which are Hong Kong-funded but are shot by a Mainland director with a Mainland crew).

While visiting the Southern Shaolin Temple last November 2015 we were very lucky to meet the Head Abbot of the Sydney Buddhist Association and the head Abbot of the Southern Shaolin Temple. They organised a demonstration for us by the young up and coming Shaolin monks.

According to tradition this style was brought south by a Shaolin monk from Kaifeng during the late 1600's. After that it was transmitted within the Southern Shaolin Temple for for a few generations. After the destruction of the Southern Shaolin Temple it was transmitted by the Iron Bead Monk to a number of people in a few small villages in Gutian county, Ningde prefecture. Today this style is widely spread in many small villages in both Ningde and Fuzhou prefectures as well as in Xianyou county in Putian prefecture.
With the age of the style and the wide area it is spread across there are now many different schools of Long Zhuang / Long Zun often having very different forms and appearances.
The style it's self has also been mixed with other older methods in many areas forming the basis of many regional arts such as Ningde Long Hu Zhuang Dragon Tiger Stake and Long He Zhuang Dragon Crane Stake as well as being the core of many unique family and village arts across northern and central Fujian.
