Penzance Promenade stretches the seafront between the Jubilee Pool at the Eastern end and Newlyn to the West. With views spanning Mounts Bay
PENZANCE Cornwall’s most westerly borough, Penzance is situated in an area of outstanding natural beauty, peppered with geographical, historical and cultural wonders. It is a place steeped in myths and legends and has been the source of inspiration for artists, writers and poets for hundreds of years. From the perilous cliff top walks to the ancient fishing villages, the sub-tropical vegetation and Bronze and Iron Age places of mystery it is a truly magical place. But uppermost of all Town and surrounding area’s attractions is its inseparable connection with the sea. After all its notoriety as a haven for smugglers and wreckers was the inspira tion for Gilbert and Sullivan’s most famous production ‘The Pirates of Penzance’.
Newlyn Cornwall is a busy fishing harbour on the edge of Mount's Bay offering plenty to see and do.
Newlyn is home to one of the largest fishing fleets in the United Kingdom. The bustling harbour of Newlyn Cornwall is a real insight into the life of a true Cornish fishing town. Old streets filled with tiny cottages spill out from Newlyn harbour. As Newlyn is a working fishing harbour there is plenty of activity with boats in and out of the harbour,
The actual village of Newlyn is a short walk from the harbour. Set aside a stream the village is steeped with history. As with Mousehole, the village of Newlyn was destroyed by the Spanish raid in 1595
Mousehole is a picturesque fishing village on the south coast of Cornwall between Penzance and Land’s End. Mousehole has retained much of its old world charm. Its narrow streets are filled with small shops, galleries and restaurants. Local cottages built from finely grained Lamorna granite Just offshore from the harbour is St Clement’s Isle, a small cluster of rocks where an ancient hermit was said to have lived.
Popular for retaining its original character, charm and beauty, Mousehole is a tiny fishing village in West Cornwall, 3 miles west of Penzance. Its picturesque harbour is surrounded by narrow streets and yellow lichened houses, which huddle together creating a stunning location. Along the harbour road you’ll find galleries, gift shops and restaurants and in the harbour itself is a safe sandy beach at low tide
Lamorna Cove is a beautiful and secluded area of Cornwall sat between the pretty harbour town of Mousehole and the glorious Porthcurno beach. You can walk the coastal path to both of these locations, or if you’re feeling adventurous, walk all the way to Land’s End! Lamorna Cove is the perfect base to enjoy a self catering holiday and to explore the further reaches of West Cornwall. The cliffs around Lamorna Cove are so beautiful. On a cleer day
I finish the walk at Lamorana cove, Hope you like and enjoy this new video. Also l want to thank you all so much for your kinds words and great comments you made on all my coastal path walk videos, Made by Huggie Huggie2love.
The Merry Maidens Stone Circle dates from the Bronze Age over 4000 years ago
Its name is believed to derive from the Cornish, 'dawns meyn' meaning 'stone dance'. Other explanations of the name include the variation 'dawns myin' 'dancing stones' and another that it derives from 'merrow maen' 'being mares at the stone'.
Located in St Buryan parish in the West Penwith area which is home to a huge concentration of fascinating prehistoric and early Christian monuments, the Merry Maidens are within walking distance of Lamorna.
The circle consists of 19 stones and has a diameter of nearly 24m (75ft).
The Merry Maidens is thought to have been a ritual ceremonial monument.
The Cornish legend associated with the circle and the nearby standing stones (menhirs), known as The Pipers, is that they were young women dancing and their musicians who were turned to stone for dancing on the sabbath.
