Bird Show at Huntsville Botanical Garden with Southeastern Raptor Center
I was so enraptured with this bird show, I didn't start videoing until toward the end. Southeastern Raptor Center (Auburn University) did a fantastic job educating us about their birds. Check out a falcon, vulture, and golden eagle in this video. The owls that I failed to capture were probably our favorites though.
This bird show was a great supplement for our homeschool! Sweet T's favorite fact? Vultures pee on their feet to sanitize them. She can't get over the hilarity.
Training the War Eagles
The flight of the eagle before an Auburn home game is one of the most storied traditions in all of college football. The flight takes many days of practice, however. Before the season, the Southeastern Raptor Center allowed me to take in one of the first practices of the season.

Happy Hour @ Eagle Valley Raptor Center
Here is one of our Mississippi Kites we got in today. She was dehydrated so I try to get them to take water from a sryinge. Then they eventually drink from a water bowl on their own. She took the water right away as she was very hot in the 110 degree weather we had today.
Auburn Eagle Flying
Posted in loving memory of my Grandmother who gave her life to Auburn. She lost her long battle to Ovarian Cancer and I remember her through the Raptor Program at Auburn. The Auburn Raptor Center is named after her, because of her donations and dedication to the Raptor Centor at Auburn University. She always had a love of Tiger and the Eagles at Auburn. She routinely opened the cage for Tiger and Nova during Auburn football games. She will always be remembered and I cannot see the eagle fly without remembering my loved Granny. I love and miss you every day! Michael.

Auburn’s War Eagle
Auburn’s new Golden Eagle AUrea takes her first flight of the 2019 season. AUrea is a five-year-old female with a 6.5 wingspan, who came to Auburn after being found with an injured wing in Selma, Alabama. Auburn nursed her back to health but doctors realized that she doesn’t possess the flying stamina to survive in the wild, so she’ll live out her days in the best of care with the Auburn Raptor Center and flying over Auburn fans in Jordan-Hare as they yell, “Warrrrrrrrr Eagle, hey!”
