The Wingecarribee Council Sucks.
EXTENSION! BIG BOWL! MORE STREET! MORE RAILS!
For the record I don’t actually think the Wingecarribee council sucks. It does do a lot for it’s community and the reality is that the community is largely an older demographic. However it does need to put some more focus on its youth. There are very few venues that allow the youth to have their own space and even less events held in the community that are catered for the youth.
Loseby Park is home to for the highlands youth at the Southern Highlands Youth Centre. The mighty Hawks call it their home, even though the field is on a bit of a lean. It Boasts an impressive 8 court Tennis club for the next Leyton Hewitt. And tucked at the bottom of the hill you will find the local Skatepark with neither a bubbler or a toilet.
Youth are the future.
Do better. Be better.

Goulburn Council - An Embarrassment to Australia
The Goulburn Mulwarree Council of New South Wales Australia recently voted to support a large waste processing facility on the riverbanks inside their town, surrounded by parks, schools, day care centers, churches and homes.
It seems a wealthy local businessman, Andy Divall, used his influence to get the votes.
The public was against this plan by an estimated 90%, but the local council didn't care.
It is truly an embarrassment for Goulburn, and Australia.

Ride Around The Lake 2009 Highlights
Visit ridearoundthelake.org.au
We are very excited to announce the launch of Ride Around The Lake 2010. Last year we raised over $23,000 for homeless youth in the Illawarra. This year we are aiming to raise over $50,000!
Ride Around the Lake is on Saturday morning, May 8th 2010, starting at the Illawarra Yacht Club. We will be riding the 40km loop around Wollongongs Lake Illawarra in NSW, just an hour and a half south of Sydney.
Ride Around The Lake is more than a fun family day, its about changing lives, with funds raised going towards my|place youth housing, a Lighthouse Community Care local initiative. This facility consists of two houses; one for boys and the other for girls, providing accommodation and mentoring for displaced young people.
Lighthouse Community Care plans to expand this project each year with funds raised from the Ride Around the Lake as it continues on an annual basis. In the Illawarra nearly 1,500 young people are homeless every night. The heart of this community ride is to eradicate homelessness in the Illawarra region.
20% of the profits generated will also go towards the MS Society the charity that brings us the Sydney to Gong each year and their support for our event is invaluable.
Our website has also been updated for this years ride. There are 3 ways you can support Ride Around The Lake:
1.You can register and ride yourself.
2.You can sponsor a rider. This is a great option for those unable to make it to the event on the day.
3.You can volunteer to help make Ride Around The Lake happen! We have both pre-event and on the day positions for you to apply for online.
If you would like any more information about Ride Around the Lake the first place to look is our website, ridearoundthelake.org.au
Everyone is welcome to attend, even if youre not riding so see you on the 8th of May!
