...ABOUT US...
Hi, we are Erin and Francis, aka the Honeymooners! We are a couple travelling the world for a year on our honeymoon.
In 2016 we travelled throughout South East Asia, and trekked all over the Himalayas of Nepal. We documented the entire trip on our GoPro for our family and friends, but decided to post it all onto YouTube just for a bit of fun as well.
We are newlyweds, happily married since June 2019, and are now living out our dream goal we have had since our last overseas trip, of travelling the world for an entire year on our honeymoon. We have worked so hard towards this goal and want to document the entire journey with you all, so you can join us as we leave our footprints all over this beautiful world.
The world we live in is so diverse and rich with culture, yet the more we travel and the more people we meet along the way, we realise that people share so many similarities no matter what their background is. We love showing these similarities while expressing their cultural differences and hope to capture those moments and show the world.

The Kerala backwaters are a chain of brackish lagoons and lakes lying parallel to the Arabian Sea coast (known as the Malabar Coast) of Kerala state in southern India. The network includes five large lakes linked by canals, both man made and natural, fed by 38 rivers, and extending virtually half the length of Kerala state. The backwaters were formed by the action of waves and shore currents creating low barrier islands across the mouths of the many rivers flowing down from the Western Ghats range.
Let's dig into it.

Fishing on the backwaters of Kerala
The Kerala backwaters are a chain of brackish lagoons and lakes lying parallel to the Arabian Sea coast (known as the Malabar Coast) of Kerala state in southern India. The network includes five large lakes linked by canals, both manmade and natural, fed by 38 rivers, and extending virtually half the length of Kerala state. The backwaters were formed by the action of waves and shore currents creating low barrier islands across the mouths of the many rivers flowing down from the Western Ghats range.
The Kerala Backwaters are a network of interconnected canals, rivers, lakes and inlets, a labyrinthine system formed by more than 900 km of waterways, and sometimes compared to the American Bayou. In the midst of this landscape there are a number of towns and cities, which serve as the starting and end points of backwater cruises. National Waterway No. 3 from Kollam to Kottapuram, covers a distance of 205 km and runs almost parallel to the coast line of southern Kerala facilitating both cargo movement and backwater tourism.
The backwaters have a unique ecosystem - freshwater from the rivers meets the seawater from the Arabian Sea. In certain areas, such as the Vembanad Kayal, where a barrage has been built near Kumarakom, salt water from the sea is prevented from entering the deep inside, keeping the fresh water intact. Such fresh water is extensively used for irrigation purposes.
Many unique species of aquatic life including crabs, frogs and mudskippers, water birds such as terns, kingfishers, darters and cormorants, and animals such as otters and turtles live in and alongside the backwaters. Palm trees, pandanus shrubs, various leafy plants and bushes grow alongside the backwaters, providing a green hue to the surrounding landscape.
Vembanad Kayal is the largest of the lakes, covering an area of 200 km², and bordered by Alappuzha (Alleppey), Kottayam, and Ernakulam districts. The port of Kochi (Cochin) is located at the lake's outlet to the Arabian Sea. Alleppey, Venice of the East, has a large network of canals that meander through the town. Vembanad is India's longest lake.

Kumeli - the beautiful Perriyar Lake and its wildlife
Kerala /ˈkɛrələ/, regionally referred as Keralam, is a state located in the south-west region of India on the Malabar coast. It was formed on 1 November 1956 per the States Reorganisation Act by combining various Malayalam-speaking regions. Spread over 38,863 km2 (15,005 sq mi) with a population of 33,387,677, it is bordered by Karnataka to the north and north east, Tamil Nadu to the east and south, and the Laccadive Sea to the west. Thiruvananthapuram is the state capital among the 14 districts; other major cities include Kochi, Kozhikode, Kollam and Thrissur.
The region was a prominent spice exporter from 3000 BCE to 3rd century. The Chera Dynasty was the first powerful kingdom based in Kerala, though it frequently struggled against attacks from the neighbouring Cholas and Pandyas. During the Chera period Kerala remained an international spice trading center. Later, in the 15th century, the lucrative spice trade attracted Portuguese traders to Kerala, and eventually paved the way for the European colonisation of the whole of India. After independence, Travancore and Cochin joined the Republic of India and Travancore-Cochin was given the status of a state. Later, the state was formed in 1956 by merging the Malabar district, Travancore-Cochin (excluding four southern taluks), and the taluk of Kasargod, South Kanara.
Kerala is the state with the lowest positive population growth rate in India (3.44%) and has a density of 819 people per km2. The state has the highest Human Development Index (HDI) (0.790) in the country according to the Human Development Report 2011.[3] It also has the highest literacy rate (93.91%), the highest life expectancy (74 years) and the highest sex ratio (as defined by number of women per 1000 men: 1,083 women per 1000 men) among all Indian states. Kerala has the lowest homicide rate among Indian states, for 2011 it was 1.1 per 100,000.[5] A survey in 2005 by Transparency International ranked it as the least corrupt state in the country. Kerala has witnessed significant emigration of its people, especially to the Persian Gulf countries during the Kerala Gulf boom during the 1970s and early 1980s, and its economy depends significantly on remittances from a large Malayali expatriate community. Hinduism is practised by the half of the population, followed by Islam and Christianity. Malayalam is the major spoken language. Although it is considered the cleanest state in India, the morbidity rate, at 118, is the highest in the country. The culture of the state traces its roots from 3rd century CE. It is a synthesis of Aryan and Dravidian cultures, developed over centuries under influences from other parts of India and abroad.
Production of pepper and natural rubber contribute a prominent portion of the total national output. In the agricultural sector, coconut, tea, coffee, cashew and spices are important. The state has 590 km of coastal belt, and around 1.1 million people of the state are dependent on the fishery industry which contributes 3% of the state's income. The state's 145,704 kilometres (90,536 mi) of roads, constitute 4.2% of all Indian roadways. There are three existing and two proposed international airports. Waterways are also used as a means of transportation. The state has the highest media exposure in India with newspapers publishing in nine different languages; mainly English and Malayalam. Kerala is an important tourist destination, with the backwaters, beaches, Ayurvedic tourism, and tropical greenery among its major attractions. Source -

Go Scuba Dive in Kerala | One of the Best Things to do in Kovalam
Please do subscribe to Jaunt Monkey:
Go Scuba Diving in Kerala: Scuba diving is one of the best things to do in Kovalam. Kovalam is a beach destination very close to Trivandrum (Thiruvananthapuram), the capital of Kerala. Kovalam has 3 crescent beaches and this scuba diving experience of Jaunt Monkey was through Bond Safari.
Underwater videos were taken by the Bond Safari Team, were you notice their logo on the video. They do this for every customer and you can get your diving videos from them after the dive.
Though I had my first underwater experience in Maldives, it was just snorkeling. Scuba diving is much intense and exiting than Snorkeling. I must say that the friendly staff of Bond Safari helped me a lot to get adjusted and feel free underwater.
Do we need to know swimming for scuba diving?
yes and no. No, if you are going for a teaser experience like that I had as shown in the video. The dive masters can help you through the waters. However, if you need to go for an expert scuba diving experience, you should be a swimmer.
Is scuba diving same as snorkeling?
No, Scuba diving is a real underwater experience while snorkeling is a surface water experience. However, this doesn't mean that snorkeling is inferior to scuba diving.
In Kovalam, did I go for a deep sea scuba dive?
No, I went for a protected area scuba dive near to the Grow beach of Kovalam. I am not an expert to go for a deep dive.
Kovalam is 18 kilometers from Trivandrum city and 14 kilometers from Trivandrum International Airport.

Mattanchery Jew Street, Synagogue, Jew Cemetery # Antique&Crafts # Top 10 Places To Visit in Kochi
Historic Jew Town, the heart of the once-thriving Cochin Jewish community, is known for its old-world charm and 16th-century Paradesi Synagogue. Quaint shops around Synagogue Lane and Jew Town Road sell antiques, carvings, and vintage collectibles, along with Keralan crafts and aromatic spices. Laid-back outdoor cafes and artsy eateries, some in heritage buildings, serve local specialties and Western fare.
Cochin Jews (also known as Malabar Jews or Kochinim, from Hebrew: יהודי קוצ'ין Yehudey Kochin), are the oldest group of Jews in India, with roots that are claimed to date back to the time of King Solomon.[2][3] The Cochin Jews settled in the Kingdom of Cochin in South India,[4] now part of the state of Kerala.[5][6] As early as the 12th century, mention is made of the Jews in southern India. The Jewish traveler Benjamin of Tudela, speaking of Kollam (Quilon) on the Malabar Coast, writes in his Itinerary: ...throughout the island, including all the towns thereof, live several thousand Israelites. The inhabitants are all black, and the Jews also. The latter are good and benevolent. They know the law of Moses and the prophets, and to a small extent the Talmud and Halacha.[7] These people later became known as the Malabari Jews. They built synagogues in Kerala beginning in the 12th and 13th centuries.[8][9] They are known to have developed Judeo-Malayalam, a dialect of Malayalam language.
