Colonial Heights Police Department- Woman Shot
The recording was just released and shows the split second decision an officer makes when a gun is pointed straight at him. The woman shown in the video was on trial and she's now cleared of attempted capital murder of an officer by reason of insanity.In the video, you can hear the engine roaring as a high speed chase unfolds and see a woman speeding through Colonial Heights, leading Officer Greg Thinness to a dead end driveway.After asking ten times for Melissa Alexander to show her hands six shots are fired, two of which hit the 44-year-old in the stomach.
Officer Thinnes waited for backup and then moved in. Officers then asked for her name,The woman was critically wounded, but survived to see trial. The dash cam also captures one of the officers getting the semi-automatic pistol away from the suspect, as sirens blare in the distance,The house is equipped with a surveillance system, which captured both cars speeding up the driveway.
The home surveillance video also shows the woman taken away on a stretcher, as neighbors are told to stay back. For now, the Colonial Heights Police Department says Officer Thinnes handled the situation exactly as he was trained when confronted by a woman, who's now been declared insane.

In the USA, 1 in 10 children will experience sexual abuse before their 18th birthday, and 90% of these children will know their abusers.
The children in this case lived in the same house as their parents and grandparents. The grandfather was a known sex offender. When the children told their parents what their grandfather was doing to them, their parents did nothing. The entire family was arrested for neglect and abuse. When you know you have sex offender in your household -- that's inexcusable.
