Southwick's Zoo 50th Anniversary
Southwick's Zoo is celebrating 50 years as one of New England's top attractions! The zoo traces it's origins back to Justin Southwick's exotic bird collection in the 1930's. His son, also named Justin, shared his passion for birds and his collection began to draw visitors from across the region. He later placed a donation bucket at the entrance to his farm. The zoo was incorporated, as Southwick Wild Animal Farm, in 1965. Over the years we have grown to become New England's largest zoo and we'd like to thank everyone who has visited us! You can learn more about our upcoming anniversary events on our website:

Mendon Massachusetts (MA) Real Estate Tour
Tour Mendon, MA neighborhoods, condominium developments, subdivisions, schools, landmarks, recreational areas, and town offices.
Mendon, Massachusetts is historically a rural, agrarian community located in the Blackstone Valley. Mendon is the second oldest town in Worcester County, and the community has one of the best preserved Federal/Greek Revival hilltop village centers in the state, adjacent to large tracts of open space.
The rest of Mendon is largely undeveloped land and forest, though the beautiful 90-acre Nipmuc Lake offers swimming and outdoor recreation. Most of the town's streams and rivers are part of the Blackstone River's drainage basin.
Suffused with a strong sense of community spirit, Mendon acts as a backdrop for large, regional activities like the annual Country Fair, the Strawberry Festival and the 325th Anniversary Celebration in 1992 which involved the whole town. Southwick, Massachusetts has a population of about 8,000, which continues to grow each year as people are attracted to this affluent community. Just a short drive from both Hartford, Connecticut and Springfield, Massachusetts, Southwick has evolved from a rural farming town to a bedroom community in the last 20 years.
Southwick is a major recreational center for the Pioneer Valley region, offering the beautiful Congamond Lakes, the Moto Cross 338 racetrack, and large open space areas. Southwick remains an excellent choice for commuters who want the close-knit feel of a small town within easy reach of the city.
Southwick operates a public school system with the town of Tolland. With only 3 schools between the two, all students receive a equal education. Southwick also offers a student/teacher ratio significantly below the state average, which assures that each student receives a level of attention they wouldn't get in most other school districts.
