Southwold Lighthouse
The 1889 built Southwold lighthouse on the east coast of England. The lantern from this light is rumoured to come from the now extinct Happisburgh Low light (see The light guides vessels into Southwold Harbour. Southwold lighthouse is open to the public but gets very busy.

Lighthouses of England, Lowestoft & Southwold Lighthouses, Suffolk.
During the my last few years as a Lighthouse keeper I tried to record as much as possible, before it was gone forever.
This is a tour of Lowestoft Lighthouse, followed by a tour of Southwold Lighthouse followed by a small bit of a decommissioned Lighthouse at Pakefield.
These were filmed in the early to mid 1990's. At Lowestoft , Jack Burrage was the attendant (check out his interview) and at Southwold, Keith Seaman was the attendant. If you start at Lowestoft, you head South on the A12 and soon reach Pakefield in a Holiday camp, then it's further South for Southwold.

Lighthouse View is a handsome Victorian Villa situated in the heart of Southwold, very close to the sea and enjoying views of the town's lighthouse. The house has four large bedrooms, arranged as two double bedrooms one with an en-suite shower room and two twin bedrooms, as well as a luxury family bathroom and shower room. Downstairs there is an elegant sitting room, a separate family room and to the rear of the property is a lovely light kitchen diner, where guests can enjoy preparing and eating a meal together. Outside there is a delightful courtyard where guests can enjoy a summer barbeque, or a morning breakfast. In the courtyard there are a handy range of out-buildings where you will find the washing machine and storage for beach equipment.
On entering the property's hallway there is a door to the sitting room, which is a large, well proportioned room with a lovely bay window overlooking the street giving the room a light and airy feel. Further down the hallway is the family room, ideal for children or young adults to amuse themselves. At the rear of the house are the dining area and kitchen. Both the kitchen and family room lead into the courtyard.
On the first floor there is one king bedroom at the front of the house with delightfully bright bay windows and an en suite shower room, a twin bedroom and the main family bathroom with a separate WC room at the rear of the house.
The second floor also has one king bedroom at the front of the house with a Juliet balcony and a twin room. The second family bathroom is adjacent to the king room at the front of the house.

Southwold lighthouse light characteristic change
It is a bit hard to see from this video but you can just about make out the sweep of the new light at southwold. Previously the light flashed 4 every 20s with a red sector to warn of sandbanks. Now you can see that it is a sweep. Visible from 24miles out to sea up from 18m with the previous.
