Yoshiike Ryokan - I paid 77,760 Japanese Yen (at the time $708.16 USD) for 1 night for 2 adults, 1 baby. It was very expensive, but it was truly an amazing Japanese cultural experience and the food was incredible. There are cheaper Japanese ryokans you can stay at, but usually they have a public onsen (Japanese hot-spring bath), rather than a private.
Ever since taking my first trip to Japan a few years ago, I had really wanted to stay in a Japanese ryokan, which is a traditional inn, usually that is somewhere in the beautiful mountains, with a hotspring onsen bath, and delicious Japanese local food served in your room.
On my most recent trip to Tokyo, my wife and I took the train to Hakone, about 1.5 hours from Tokyo in the mountains, and decided to stay at a ryokan for 1 night. The experience was truly incredible and our room was amazing, including a private onsen bath and amazing Japanese gardens to view from the window.

Last Sunday we spent a day at Osaka Spa World. This is a great place where you can enjoy different types of spa from around the world, for example Japanese onsen, Scandinavian sauna etc. However, once the kids entered the water world they stayed there for most of the time :) They had so much fun on different types of water slides and swimming pool.

Osaka - Japan (Dec 2017) - Part 1 - S'pore to Tennoji
We are at Osaka again in 2017 and this time we came along with additional family which made us 4 guardians with 4 kids. Obviously we focused more towards family outings and adventure and not those adults kind of stuff. We stayed at the Bureau Shitennoji Hotel in Tennoji-Ku which fits 4 of us in a family with just USD100 per night in which we ended up booked for 9 nights, each family got the size of 2 bedrooms which equipped with 2 queens bed with proper in-room kitchen, clothes washing and drying facilities, mini Jacuzzi comes with spa and small hall with sofa and coffee table. It's just 10 minutes walk from the nearest subway in Tennoji. We spent our very 1st night strolling in Shinsekai after a long flight from Singapore and kick start by squeezing our stomach in the famous Kushikatsu Daruma, a chain of restaurant in Osaka specializing in deep fried skewers. This skewer had an amazing dipping sauce which made it distinguished i guessed till we got to queue up a little while even with more than 20 over similar dishes served elsewhere. It's merely 15 minutes quick walk from our hotel and we don't hesitate to get a second round of it. Of course for a good night sleep before we start our fresh morning, we ends up abusing ourselves with simply delightful cocktails and beers in Three Monkey Cafe @ Tennoji, a sports bar with nice ambiance and i personally love the washroom which you can get free towel, toothbrush and cologne. I think that might be useful for drunk folks. Probably it was attached inside the Hotel Bali Tower, a boutique hotel with very beautiful features in Tennoji Ward. The bar looks spacious and many youngsters walks in after 11pm and we left around 2am with few drinkers keeps coming in. Price is reasonable for USD2 on Kirin / Asahi and USD4 - 7 for cocktails or house wine. I will see you again in Part 3 in which we made a return to Shinsekai. Not to forget that this place is the beginning of our food heaven and it's iconic tower with their humble observation deck, the Tsutenkaku, in case you don't know how big is Osaka. Along the way, our kids spotted a zoo and nothing could stop us from getting them a 1st day entering the wilderness zone. We will include the tour around Tennoji Zoo, part of Tennoji Park in our Osaka 2017 Tour - Part 2. Dewa mata!

I love capsule hotels because they're a fantastic value for the budget conscious traveler. This is a review of two capsule hotels I stayed at in Tokyo: (1) Centurion Hotel Residential Cabin Tower in Akasaka (2) Green Plaza Shinjuku (closed)
