Jazzing Along (1926)
Full title reads: Jazzing along. Striking miners, from many collieries, vie in organising, most striking jazz band.
Glyn Heath, Wales.
M/S of all-woman kazoo band marching past terrace houses, they are all dressed as clowns. They are followed by a troop of miners dressed comedy Mexicans in ridiculous sombreros, each appears to have a musical instrument (violins? banjos?) tucked under his arm.
Intertitle reads: Every man in each band is a working collier.
More shots of troops of miners in different types of fancy dress marching past terrace houses. All play paper trumpets or kazoos. Many collieries have gone for racist stereotypes as their fancy dress theme - lots of grass skirts and boot polish. M/S of a traditional colliery brass band marching past terrace houses. M/S of a troop of majorettes and children in fancy dress. Quirky, if not very politically correct.

Superb Model Railway Layout in OO Gauge and one of the finest in British Railway Modelling
Once again, Pilentum presents one of the finest model railway layouts made in Great Britain. It is the third layout made by the British model railroader Peter Goss. The model railway - built in OO scale or 4 mm or OO gauge - is based on the North Yorkshire market town of Knaresborough. It was completed at the end of 2014 and has been presented at model railway exhibitions since then.
Pete Goss started planning this model railway in 2009, and after extensive survey work and detailed planning model construction finally commenced in February 2010. The scenery is set in the time period around 2005 to 2015. The rolling stock includes the modern day colorfully liveried diesel multiple units (DMU) and several long special trains, for example the “Northern Belle Pullman” or the “Scarborough Spa Express”. The layout has only a simple branch line theme with trains running through the station on a twin track continuous circuit run.
The market town setting contains a very strong historical theme. It is that theme of model railroading that Pete is very familiar with. Pete has always had a fascination with railways and buildings. His main interest is the architecture and styles of old and historic buildings and displaying them at a true scale within the realms of railway modelling. Over the years, Pete has attended model railway exhibitions all over the United Kingdom and also in Germany, Netherlands and Belgium.
The model railway layout in this video got the name “The Worlds End”, because this name refers to the pub that is located near the railway station of Knaresborough. Apart from the train station, the model railway layout contains a large stone built and ornate viaduct over the River Nidd which is around five feet long and 14 inches high. And, there are other scenes on the layout that will intrigue and entertain folks whilst watching the model trains go by. Substantial numbers of metal cast and converted plastic model figures have been employed on the layout and inside the coaches. Pete’s model railway layout was shown at the great Norwich Model Railway Exhibition in 2017. Pilentum made this video at the International Scale Model Exhibition in Dortmund, Germany, in 2018.
Miller Homes - City Fields, Wakefield, Yorkshire CGI Development Tour
Miller Homes - City Fields, Wakefield, Yorkshire CGI Development Tour
Around fifteen minutes walk from the vibrant city centre of Wakefield with its superb blend of the historic and the modern, and just eight miles from Leeds, City Fields combines sustainable, contemporary design with an enormously convenient location. Fronted by green public spaces, cycleways and public paths that make a welcoming first impression, this attractive selection of energy efficient two, three, four and five bedroom homes is set to become one of the city’s most desirable addresses.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Wakefield is a thriving small city set on the River Calder in West Yorkshire.
Culture and heritage
Firstly, the area is renowned for its superb arts and culture. With many galleries and museums there are plenty of places for an interesting day out. The Yorkshire Sculpture Park is a great option if you want to soak up the beautiful Yorkshire countryside whilst viewing the amazing sculptures on display. With work from well-known names such as Henry Moore and Barbara Hepworth it’s a delightful place to learn, indulge in a little culture and for the little ones, run, play and picnic. And of course, the Hepworth Gallery is dedicated to Barbara Hepworth’s work and has recently been voted ‘Museum of the Year’.
The National Coal Mining Museum is another worthwhile visit. You can learn about the region’s rich mining heritage as well as journey 140m underground to explore the arduous lives lived by miners – a real eye opener for younger generations who don’t recall Yorkshire’s rich mining heritage.
The great outdoors
Wakefield boasts nearly 70 managed parks and wildlife areas making it the perfect place for walking and enjoying the spectacular scenery. Nostell Priory (part of the National Trust) is one such place. Once you have finished marvelling at the stunning 18th-century stately home you must make sure to explore some of the 300 acre gardens, parkland and lakes, and don’t forget the huge doll’s house and clock collection that is currently on display.
Shop and socialise
If the countryside isn't for you Wakefield also has a bustling town centre where you can quite easily while away an hour or two. There are many high street favourites making for a great day's shopping. And, when respite is needed, you can relax in one of many cafes, tea rooms and restaurants which offer a diverse influence of cultures and cuisine. You could combine shopping and socialising with a trip to one of my favourites which is just minutes from the Yorkshire office - Blacker Hall Farm Shop - which was voted best Farm Shop in the UK in 2014 and is well worth a visit for tasteful gifts and even tastier food!
Rhubarb!
Rhubarb, you ask? Well we just couldn’t let it pass without a mention! A little known fact if you are not from Wakey is that Wakefield is part of the 'Rhubarb Triangle' and each February a fantastic ‘Food, Drink and Rhubarb’ festival takes place as the annual process of growing begins! It’s a great community event and often draws in significant visitors. It’s to honour the fact that Wakefield is one of the biggest forced rhubarb producers in the world and that the region has been granted Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) joining the likes of Champagne and Parma Ham on a list of Europe’s protected food and drink!
Quality education
Wakefield has many great schools in the area and is the perfect place for families to settle and access the local state and private schools. Queen Elizabeth High School is one of the top independent schools in the region, shortly followed by Wakefield Girls High School. Furthermore, with the recent opening of the New College Pontefract, teenagers in the region can now benefit from a designated college dedicated to post 16 education.
Business and investment
It’s also worth mentioning that Wakefield benefits from fantastic business links and prime industrial space. Many companies chose Wakefield as distribution bases, providing jobs and investment for the area, great if you are looking for work or already have a job there and want to relocate. In fact, Wakefield was ranked 8th in the UK for strong business growth between 2009 and 2011 Furthermore, Wakefield has recently undergone multi-million pound regeneration projects at key locations in the city. This includes the Westgate and Kirkgate stations and the Merchant Gate commercial quarter. However, the renovations have maintained the city's beautiful Victorian heritage.

Walk With Me
This is simply a calling song to the hills of Northumberland. It was written late evening above Rothbury looking down on the River Coquet with the moonlight on the sea. I hope that it captures the wide open spaces for you.
Fast action ratting with terriers
Andy Crow is clearing the barn of straw which has become home to lots and lots of rats - and he wants them off the farmyard. As a final effort to get rid of as many as possible Andy has enrolled the help of a couple of terriers, a lurcher and a lab/springer cross. As he moves the bales the dogs and sticks start flying.

Why hunt/shoot rats?
There are thought to be more than 10 million rats in the UK (…yuk).
Rats carry many diseases which can spread to humans, normally through their urine, including: leptospirosis or Weil's disease, salmonella, listeria, toxoplasma gondii and hantavirus.
Rodent contamination also presents a significant risk to livestock health. Both cattle and sheep will ingest a large proportion of faecal contamination (Daniels & Hutchings 2001).
Rats can also inflict structural damage. They can cause fires by gnawing away the insulation around electrical cables, floods by puncturing pipes and they chew through gas pipes. The insurance sector has estimated that rodent damage to wiring is responsible for 25% of all electrical fires in buildings.
Finally, rats can ruin an organisation's reputation. If clients and customers spot evidence of rodent infestation in the premises you manage, they are unlikely to want to do business with you.
Ashington's Hirst Park to be restored with National Lottery funds
A multi-million pound cash boost from the National Lottery will ensure an historic Ashington park is restored to its former glory.
The funding will ensure that the flower park is rejuvenated and landscaped, a new play area developed and greenhouses and buildings restored to provide much improved public spaces.
The 100-year old park is renowned as being the place where international football legends the Charlton brothers and Jackie Milburn played as youngsters.

♦ FAQ
♡ Do you take house/sim requests?
I'm afraid I don't at this time!
♡ Will you upload your mods folder?
NO! This is a huge violation to a lot of custom content creators terms of use and considering the amount of hard work and effort that goes into cc creation, I definitely don't want to disrespect that. Sorry!
♡ Can you upload this sim/house?
If it's my current household sims, I'm afraid not - simply because they're very personal to me. LP sims will be available for download when the LP comes to an end. The only sims I'll really have available for download upfront are sims from my create-a-sims, so check those out if you're looking for sims to download. As for houses, the only houses I'll be having download links to are houses that I've uploaded speed builds for.

PYTHAGORAS - an epic tragicomedy by John Hinton
This year, Carlisle in Cumbria plays host to a production,
The first time that this play is ever shown,
About a man whose Theorem need little introduction
But whose life story's far less widely known.
Pythagoras had everything -- a wife to share his bed,
Two lovely children, servants, students, fame,
But fame has the potential to go to a person's head
And lead to penury, decay and shame.
It's not all doom and gloom, though -- it's a very funny story
That's told with songs and dances, jokes and japes,
With dogs and gods and mime and rhyme and murders gross and gory,
And lots and lots of geometric shapes.
We bring to you a play that's sure to make you cry and laugh --
Pythagoras: an epic tragi-comedy... with math.

St Clare's Hospice campaign reaches £50,000 target!
HOSPICE bosses are celebrating today after the Gazette's c/o St Clare's campaign reached its £50,000 fundraising target.
We launched our cash crusade in November when St Clare's Hospice realised it was suffering a cash shortfall.
The registered charity in Primrose Terrace, Jarrow, has annual fundraising costs of £2m -- £1.4m of which it must raise itself.
It has provided palliative care to the people of South Tyneside with life-limiting illnesses for the last 25 years.
