Spanny Twin Waterfalls - Dominica
While on a cruise with Celebrity Cruises on the Celebrity Summit, one of the ports of call was Roseau, Dominica. During my tour, I got a chance to visit Spanny Falls also known as Spanny Waterfalls or Spanny Twin Waterfalls.
These twin waterfalls empty into their own pools that let guests swim in the cold water below. These are a nice, close by alternative to some of the other waterfalls that require hikes of several hours. This waterfall is situated on the island of Dominica, 7.9 miles north of downtown Roseau; it is five miles to the east of Mero. Located just outside the Morne Trois Piton National Park in one of the few privately owned properties with falls on the island, it's a short 20 minute hike from the parking area along agricultural farm land and into the rainforest. In no time at all you'll be at the base of the waterfall.
Spanny's Twin Falls are on the taller side, and have a large part of their water turn to mist before it hits the pool below, making it much easier to swim and relax in. If not for swimming, the pool is surrounded by rocky ledges perfect for dangling feet into the water or for simply laying and enjoying the sun and sound of water.

Trafalgar Falls, Dominica
A visit organized by SeaCat (call them on VHF, channel 16)
There are many water falls in Dominica. Trafalgar falls are one of the most beautiful
These famous twin waterfalls are a 20 minute drive from Roseau. A pleasant, short walk takes one from the Visitors Centre to a good viewing platform. The twin falls are referred to as the Father (to the left) and Mother (to the right). The more intrepid can continue on to swim in the refreshing waters of the smaller waterfall (Mother) or hike up to the Father Falls where you will also find a hot water spring.

Ostrich Riding in Vietnam
Vietnam is an incredible place to visit for Americans. It's one of the few places in the world where our money has value. Along the country's east coast, Nha Trang is a prime tourist spot that draws tourist from all over the world and also from Ho Chi Minh City.
There's many day excursions available, nonetheless, one of the most heavily pushed by local booking agents is the trip to Monkey Island. This excursion heads out to the region's barrier islands that are advertised as great for snorkeling and prime exotic locales. Eh, the water is about as clear as milk and there's trash all over the islands!
The Monkey Island excursion does, however, stop on up to three islands, one of which, is this one, where visitors can walk on the beach, swim, pose with elephants and ride ostriches, as show here. Unfortunately, I weighed too much, but they let my buddy Brett Ross hop on this feisty ostrich for a mere dollar. Gotta love the deals in Vietnam's South China Sea!

Dominica Hiking: Middleham Falls
Middleham Falls - Roseau Valley
Length: 3.6 miles
Duration: 1.5 hours
Forest type: Rainforest
The trek to Middleham Falls leads you into the heart of the rainforest. The falls are striking - a narrow stream drops about 300 ft from a keyhole notch in the lip of the cliff.
Though there are two trails to Middleham Falls, the more popular trail begins off the Roseau-Laudat road. From the picnic shelter at Providence, the trailhead is less than two miles from the falls.
You start at 1,600 ft, climb to a ridge at 2,200 ft, then descend back down to the falls themselves. The long and hilly round trip normally takes 1.5 hours, but the trail is not especially difficult. It is classified as Intermediate in Discover.dm website.
