For quite some time, we want to go to Alsace. Finally, the opportunity arises and we set out together with friends to spend an extended weekend there. In Itterswiller, we found a very nice and cozy hotel, the Hotel Kieffer. Both the hotel and the village lie in the center of Alsace, so it is easy to visit the most beautiful places from here.
The Alsace is the northeastern region of France and is divided in the départements Bas-Rhin and Haut-Rhin. The capital is Strasbourg. To the north, the Alsace extends to the line Saarbrücken and Karlsruhe. In the east, the region is bordered by the Rhine and in the south by the border around Basel to Switzerland.
Throughout history, Alsace has repeatedly changed its affiliation with France and Germany. Most residents also speak both languages.
Alsace is famous for its picturesque villages and excellent wine. Already the Romans have appreciated the latter.
The nice Hotel Kieffer has grown in the course of time and several building parts extended. The individual periods join themselves together by the uniform balcony design and the half-timbering ambiance. An excellent breakfast buffet will ensure a successful start to the day.

Schon seit längerem wollen wir das Elsass besuchen. Endlich bietet sich die die Gelegenheit und wir brechen zusammen mit Freunden auf, dort ein verlängertes Wochenende zu verbringen.
Wir haben in Itterswiller ein sehr schönes und gemütliches Hotel gefunden, das Hotel Kieffer. Sowohl das Hotel, als auch der Ort liegen zentral im Elsass, sodass es einfach ist, von hier aus die schönsten Orte zu besichtigen.
Das Elsass st die nordöstlichste Region Frankreichs und besteht aus den Départements Bas-Rhin und Haut-Rhin. Hauptstadt ist Straßburg. Das Elsass erstreckt sich im Norden bis zur Linie Saarbrücken und Karlsruhe. Im Osten wird die Region durch den Rhein begrenzt und im Süden durch die Grenze um Basel zur Schweiz.
Im Laufe der Geschichte hat das Elsass mehrfach seine Zugehörigkeit zu Frankreich und Deutschland gewechselt. Die meisten Bewohner sprechen auch beide Sprachen.
Das Elsass ist berühmt für seine pittoresken Dörfer und den hervorragenden Wein. Bereits die Römer haben letzteren schon geschätzt.
Das wunderschöne Hotel ist im Laufe der Geschichte immer wieder gewachsen, sodass mehrere Gebäudeteile entstanden sind. Dennoch fügen sich die einzelnen Abschnitte durch die einheitliche Balkongestaltung und das Fachwerkambiente harmonisch zusammen. Ein ausgezeichnetes Frühstücksbuffet sorgt für einen gelungenen Start in den Tag.
Zum Hotel gehört ein Weingut mit Weinkeller. Hier kann man an einer kleinen Bar, bei einer Weinprobe die Weine der hauseigenen Domäne verkosten. Bei strahlendem Sonnenschein ist es aber auch ein Vergnügen einen dieser köstlichen Tropfen im Freien zu genießen.
Itterswiller ist ein Dorf, das sich längs einer ehemaligen römischen Heeresstraße angesiedelt hat. Man vermutet, dass die Gegend bereits zur Römerzeit besiedelt war.

Nerve centre of the Principality, the Place du Casino is surrounded by 3 mythical buildings: the Hotel de Paris, the Café de Paris, and the Monte-Carlo Casino. A true work of art built in 1863 that we owe to famous architect Charles Garnier. From the Europe Room to the White Room and the Médecin Room, the emblematic private room of the Monte-Carlo Casino, the atmosphere here is extraordinary. Built in 1910 by Monegasque François Médecin, this private game room houses the old elevator cage in cast iron that used to lead directly to the Cabaret. Still in perfect working order, today it leads to the Buddha Bar that has turned into an institution in Monaco since its opening in 2010. At night, many people come to enjoy its cosy atmosphere and cocktails. It is time for us to return to the hotel after this busy day on the Princely Rock.
