Put your bathing suit under your clothes or change in the toilet which is not too dirty but neither super clean. The outside pool is very cold. The cost is LE 25 (about $5). There is also an ostrich to admire. Up the road is a terrace with a nice panoramic view. If you're lucky there might be someone to serve you a drink or to eat something.

(5 Jan 2009) The Romans were the first to take advantage of the natural springs and underground water sources in Tunisia.
They built their well-designed baths so as to use the fresh water springs for lengthy bathing sessions.
Like the Romans of old, today's Tunisians are aware of the immense benefits of taking the waters.
In Tunisia the health benefit of spa waters is known as thermalism.
As Fredj Daouas, General Director of Thermalism at the Ministry of Health says, the key is to know the exact location of the natural spring that has the characteristic needed for a particular ailment.
At the Residence - Tunisia's top hotel, sea water becomes a source of healing when heated to a certain temperature.
Thalassotherapy literaIly means sea treatment and its benefits are marketed as playing a role in today's constant search for improved well being.
As Emna Bouchoucha, Manager of the Thalassotherapy Centre at the Residence, explains, although the medical aspect is played down, these treatments can help with today's lifestyle imbalances.
The benefits of sea water is also found in sea weed, and this is used extensively in personalised treatments.
One of the therapists, Olfa, says that seaweed is useful in a number of ways.
For the more wealthy, treatments are personalised and refined to treat specific ailments.
As Sihem Djibelli, a masseuse, explains, thalassotherpy treatments are popular after surgery.
With growing emphasis on alternative therapies, and with Europeans anxious to be more in control of their health, it seems Tunisia is well placed to use the country's natural resources to generate more income.

It was the highlight of our trip to Tunisia. Good food, nice pools and beach, amazing selection of vine. (And really reasonable vine prices) This place has almost everything you expect from a great hotel.
Minuses:
Ending my stay at La Badira
Airport shuttle is too expensive. At least 4-5 times of normal taxi cost.
House keeping started to knock at 8.15 on a weekend. (You have to keep do not disturb sign on every night)
Having Nescafé in the room (not Nespresso) is a bit tacky for a world class boutique hotel.
Sometimes you can struggle to communicate with the stuff in English.

Water treatments are offering Tunisian hotels a new way to attracts tourists.
Thalassotherapy is becoming increasingly popular with domestic and foreign visitors.

STORY-LINE:
Nelly Plaschy-Gay steps into the pool during her holiday in Tunisia.
The Swiss tourist has chosen a hotel in Sousse for a relaxing break.
This tourist resort and beyond have recently become a popular destination for visitors seeking health treatments using water, and the Kantaoui Bay Hotel is no exception.
Customers come from Europe and neighbouring Algeria to enjoy the thalassotherapy on offer.
I was looking for a place to visit that was by the sea and sunny and then I found a welcoming place with friendly people, says Plaschy-Gay, who has come for a few days with her daughter.
Tunisia has a rich history and many archaeological sites, but some visitors prefer to focus on their health during their holiday.
We came mainly for the thalassotherapy, so we haven't done any cultural tourism outside of this, explains Plaschy-Gay.
According to Tunisia's Ministry of Tourism, 500,000 tourists visit the country annually for health tourism - to use facilities which offer health benefits, and over 168,000 of them come for the thalassotherapy.
Adon, a Belgian tourist, is hoping his choice of holiday will improve his well-being and reduce his tiredness.
I am trying thalassotherapy to see if it can change things for the better, he says, as therapy choices in the past have not made a radical difference to his life.
The Tunisian Ministry of Tourism states that 20 percent of French tourists to the country visit thalassotherapy and wellness centres.
The country has 60 thalassotherapy and spa centres, and the Ministry of Tourism hopes it will attract increasing numbers of health tourists.
Joulani Faycel, the head of the thalassotherapy centre at the Tropicana Hotel, says Tunisians are a primary customer.
In second place are our Algerian neighbours, he says.
Every customer who wants to have thalassotherapy must visit our centre's doctor to check for diseases and to guide them through the steps necessary for thalassotherapy, he adds.
Tunisia's competitive prices and health infrastructure are supporting growth in this niche area of the tourism industry.
