Chachapoyas - Cloud People of Peru
Archeologists have discovered Los Pinchudos, a forgotten city deep within the Amazon rain forest of the long-lost tribe of white-skinned, blonde-haired people the Inca referred to as the Cloud People, or the cloud warriors. The Chachapoyas, also called the Warriors of the Clouds, was a culture of Andean people living in the cloud forests of the Amazonas Region of present-day Peru.
He was called Viracocha by the Incas, Kukulkan by the Mayas, Quetzalcoatl by the Aztecs, Gucumatz in Central America, Votan in Palenque and Zamna in Izamal. What is the forgotten ancient history of South America? Robert Sepehr is an author, producer and anthropologist specializing in linguistics, archeology, and paleobiology (archeogenetics).

Chachapoyas, is an ancient city, once effortlessly mingled among the mountains of northern Peru.
At an elevation of 2,335 meters, it is a still inhabited location, that was once the home of a little known or indeed understood, enigmatic civilisation, known as “the cloud people.”
Situated in the mountains far from the Peruvian coast, although this apparently didn’t stop them somehow creating elaborate jewellery from seashells, Chachapoyas remains extremely isolated to this day.
Only ever accessed by enthusiastic Hikers, adventurers and airlifted scientists, it is a site like many others we have covered which dot our planet, that through our own research, has been revealed to have a contradictory explanation for their construction.
Instead, these sites are dated too, and subsequently tagged to convenient culprits.
We have not only found compelling evidence to suggest that this most isolated, once thriving locations, is one of the oldest, pre-Incan relics anywhere in Peru…
But that the dating’s of such sites is often a funded conspiracy rather than a reality.
Los Pinchudos, is an elaborate Chachapoya tomb complex, moulded into a high rock face, it is a natural and cultural World Heritage Site, and is guarded 365 days of the years, and closed off to all except specific scientific exploration.
What is remarkable about the site, is the fact that the wooden statues marking the tombs have mysteriously survived the ages.
These statues were used by academia to date the site, however, although the explanation for the statues survival is apparently, quote, “an arid climate,” the actual site displays evidence of a far greater antiquity than these timber ghosts.
Many believe that the tombs would have been lost completely, without Church and Peruvian conservator Ricardo Morales Gamarra, who restored the eroding foundations
The clay and stone tombs of the complex, also have wooden roofs and have surviving, Incan paint in red, yellow, black, and white.
We feel, due to the other compelling evidence that has been gathered, and subsequently shared upon our channel, along with the extensive erosion found at many of the sites attributed to the Chachapoyas, that there may be a high chance that the wooden roofing, and statues commemorating the graves, may have been another conservation effort, performed by people placed more recently within history. People modern academia claim as the original builders.
Is it possible that with the extensive erosion evident at the site, in contrast to the highly preserved, and seemingly recent wooden monuments, and protective roofing,,, that we actually looking at more than two building fazes upon these tombs? An original construction, followed by a later, Incan conservation effort, and then a modern correction? We find the evidence to suggest such, highly compelling.

We recently covered the enigmatic ancient civilisation, that could once be found among the tops of mountains within northern Peru.
Known as the Chachapoyas, or cloud people, they were a race of possible ancient giants, that are said to have been responsible for some of the most precariously positioned, and most amazingly constructed ancient builds, to be found anywhere on earth, let alone Peru…
And the most astonishing of these, has to be the ancient site known as Kuélap.
Kuélap, is a little academically shared, thus little known ancient Peruvian site, located within the Peruvian mountains near the towns of María and Tingo, in the southern part of the region of Amazonas.
According to particularly funded parties, it was built by the Chachapoyas culture, a mere 14 hundred years ago, on a ridge overlooking the Utcubamba Valley.
However, once one has an opportunity to visually explore this untouched, once lost ruin, the. unexplainable extent of the groundwork, that went into creating the site, becomes apparent.
What first appears to be long brick-walled fortifications, are soon realised to actually be enormous, seemingly unimaginably huge groundworks, built by brick, creating multi-metre, reinforced walls, backfilled and levelled with earth, creating a ruin which is now what can only be seen as “man-made geology.”
Groundworks the size of no other, anywhere on earth. Created, apparently quite recently within history,,, without any real record of the astonishing event,,, or more importantly, cataloguing of the methods used found anywhere among the sites…
The city has 3 entrances, 2 to the east and the other one to the west.
The main entrance has a “trapezoid shape” having once also having had a corbel arch, this entrance was “siege proof,” due to its cunning shape, it becomes narrower and narrower, until it allows the passage of only one person at a time. Astonishing architecture, built with precision into enormous constructions…
There are over 550 structures within the fort, nearly all of which, having once been circular…
On the southwestern part of the settlement, there is a 5.5 meters high structure known as El Tintero or Templo Mayor, Spanish for main temple, ceremonial archaeological remains have been found at this location, and it is hypothesized that the building may have been used as a solar observatory.
Kuélap was accidentally rediscovered in 1843, by Juan Crisóstomo Nieto, a judge from the city of Chachapoyas.
In 1870, Antonio Raimondi made the first known survey of the site, ever since details regarding the site have slowly been revealed.
Astonishing ruins.
A place, like many others around the globe, which also display seemingly impossible feats of engineering, accompanied by complete lack of any recording or explanation for said tasks,,, undoubtedly pre-dates its academic dating. The question is, who could have built such astonishing architecture, atop the largest groundwork's, anywhere on earth? How did they complete such a mammoth task at such a high altitude? Perhaps one day, we will find out.
Kuelap Ancient City of Peru
▶FULL DOCUMENTARIES |
▶ Spanish video:
Kuelap is an ancient city located in Peru. It is a fortress where the Chachapoyas Indians lived. The city of Kuelap is built in stone at 3,000 meters high. The wall that surrounds it has a length of 600 meters and inside it we find old buildings, mostly circular and with pointed roofs.
The Lords of the Abyss were Indians of fair complexion and perfect, brave and daring traits, according to the chroniclers. Only the Incas managed to conquer them, but not fighting, but cutting off the supply of water and food to the fort. And yet it took months to surrender …
As we approach the innermost enclaves of the Chachapoyas and their cliffside tombs, the atmosphere turns otherworldly… and funereal…
More than 100 mummies have been found at the sacred mountain cliffs of La Petaca. The atmosphere here is surreal.
The mummies are perfectly preserved, if a mummy can be considered perfect that is.
The sarcophagi of Karajia contain many Chachapoya mummies. The secrets of these statues that gaze off into space are another mystery that has yet to be explained.

La Jalca, Amazonas, Peru
La Jalca Grande is a large department in the enigmatic cloud forest region of northern Peru. It is a place of immense historical and traditional importance where centuries-old culture still has an extremely strong presence in the community.
As we saw that modernity was aggressively entering into the community, with little help from tourism or local authorities. The social and economic consequences have been very hard for this most unique of populations. I am Peru knew that we could help.
We have organized and trained the community in rural tourism as a constructive tool in preserving heritage and stimulating new economic opportunities. We work with the members of the community with the most knowledge of traditions and history, allowing them to communicate with the younger generation. There has been an intensive education programme in cultural identity, tourism services, environmental practices and creativity.
We are addressing various social problems and looking to use our status as an NGO to bring material help to those families most in need. But more than this, we believe that empowerment is the key to development.
We have developed a homestay programme with families where you can learn about the way of life in La Jalca. There is a tremendous wealth of living culture, natural beauty and archeology to discover over a vast area. The trekking opportunities are seemingly endless for those visitors who will be amongst the first outsiders to explore this region.

The Legacy of the Fallen Race - Cloud People
One of the most unique and legendary races in the world is also one that we know the least about. The fascinating Chachapoya, also known as ‘Cloud People’, were a race of humans that lived during the ninth century. The Cloud People began carving settlements out of the extremely dense mountain forests situated between the Marañón and Huallaga rivers, and eventually established an impressive kingdom that spread through the northern Andes of Peru.
In 1470, these strong and powerful warriors, were momentarily conquered by the Incas. The name Chachapoya actually comes from the Incan language Quechua, as when the Incas first found them they were living in the cloud forests. The original name of the Cloud People is still completely unknown. In 1535, the Spaniards arrived in modern day Peru, and were extremely impressed with this unusual tribe’s strength and determination. An alliance was soon formed with the Chachapoya, giving them enough man power to claim back their land from the Incas. However, the arrival of the European allies wasn’t all good news. The Spaniards brought with them Smallpox, which eventually wiped out the entire race.
To this day, all we really know about these fascinating people is what we can read in the logs of the Spanish that visited the Northern Andes. Probably the most famous quote about the Cloud People comes from the Spanish conquers Pedro Cieza de Leon, he wrote that the Chachapoya were ““the whitest and most handsome of all the people that I have seen, and their wives were so beautiful that because of their gentleness. Orellana, another Spanish conqueror wrote a similar description, and also stated that the Cloud People were much taller than the Spaniards, and had extremely light skin and blonde hair, pointing to the fact that they were of European ancestry. These facts continue to puzzle modern day scientists, as there is no evidence of previous European genes being present in this area of the world before the Cloud People.
