Here you will find 10 Craft workers designing, creating, making and selling their work. This unique and very accessible craft village, also called the Spiddal Craft Centre & Studios. It is a must stop place for visitors interested in Irish culture and craft. Shop, eat, drink, relax and enjoy!

Ceardlann Craft Centre and Café are situated directly across from Spiddal Beach, Connemara, looking out across the great expanse of Galway Bay to the unique Burren region, the Cliffs of Moher and the Aran Islands. The Craft Centre allows visitors the chance to come and see the arts and craft people at work. working and bring home beautiful gifts for yourself, friends or family. Included in the current studios are a basket maker, a glass artist, ceramicists, weavers and a jeweler.
The video features Sliding Rock Ceramics, run by Rob D’Eath. Rob produces thrown, functional stoneware. He also makes sculptural work and has collaborated successfully with artists in other fields.

Since moving to Ireland from Southampton, England in 1980, Robin D'Eath has made his living from Ceramics. After 4 years in Galway city, he moved to Spiddal and has established a thriving business, Sliding Rock Pottery, situated opposite the beach, overlooking Galway Bay and the Burren. He has concentrated on producing thrown, functional stoneware from day one. He also makes sculptural work and has collaborated successfully with artists in other fields. Rob teaches ceramics part-time in the Art College in Galway and runs a one year FÁS Training programme in pottery.

Connemara Candles was established by Walter and Heather de Lacy in 1988 in Billamore, Oughterard, Co. Galway. Walter is by profession a geologist, who came to the west of Ireland from Dublin in 1974 as a prospector for a mining company. Originally the assignment was for eight weeks, but this stretched into two years, during which time the cottage in Billamore was acquired. Walter has been making candles as a hobby for over 30 years and decided to devote himself to it full time in 1987. Soon after, Connemara Candles was founded.
