Spindle Tree Gardens, Tamworth Ontario.
One of Land O'Lakes newest attractions, SpindleTree Gardens offers a series of gardens with thousands of spring bulbs, perennial walks, rose gardens, formal and informal water features and a unique walled kitchen garden. Your tour will take you through an English park setting along meandering paths past a croquet pavilion with miniature historical buildings built by the owners as croquet hoops.
The lower pond and long pond with its connecting waterfall, the lily pond with its goldfish, flowering water lilies and bronze fountain, all designed and constructed by the owners, will enchant you as you cross the arched iron bridge on your tour. The lettuce and vegetables you see in the walled kitchen garden could become part of a light lunch served to you in the Garden Café attached to the main house.
These gardens are full of ideas which can be interpreted within your own garden. Your visit to the various gardens will inspire both hands-on and armchair gardeners alike. Seating is available at various locations on the tour for rest and contemplation.
The many architectural features located throughout the gardens embellish and frame views of flowering shrubs, trees and roses which will delight the senses. SpindleTree Gardens constantly evolves throughout the season. Colourful spring bulbs give way to a tapestry of summer perennials, followed by the blaze of autumn leaves, clouds of asters and waving grasses. Every garden visit is a new experience.
Tom Brown is available to lead garden tours at 11:00 a.m. on open days or by prior arrangement. Visitors are encouraged to proceed independently throughout the property with the help of a detailed garden tour brochure. Approximate time for a full tour is an hour and a half.

Tamworth Ontario Aerial Tour Phantom 3 Standard Drone Summer 2017 #lennox&addington #stonemills
A drone tour of Tamworth Ontario Canada recorded in July and August 2017. Tamworth is a village near Beaver Lake, about halfway between Toronto and Ottawa. This tour shows that Tamworth truly 'has it all'! Tamworth is located in Stone Mills, Lennox and Addington, Ontario, Canada.
Originally settled in 1826, Tamworth received its name in 1848 the year of the great potato famine in Ireland. The area was settled by many Irish immigrants and by 1865 the population of the area was 500. In 1884 the Tamworth and Quebec Railway had three trains departing to Napanee each day. Once the forest cover had been removed the soil that remained was not of the best quality, but farmers persevered and the area included many cheese factories. Farmers could supplement their incomes cutting trees in winter to be floated down the Napanee River to mills to the south. Featured in Michael Ondaatje’s “In the Skin of Lion” Tamworth is a charming village steeped in the history of the hard work of the generations who laboured to create a life here.
Tamworth today is a mix of farms, homes and cottages on Beaver Lake and includes all the services of city with the charm of a village. Churches, a bank, hockey arena, a video store, restaurants, a hardware store, grocery store, pharmacy, liquor store, library and many other amenities, make for a great place to raise a family. Beaver Lake flows into the Salmon River which runs through Tamworth and this flowing water was the source of much of the commerce in the mills that form part of Tamworth’s past.
Tamworth is a great place to live, visit, or just spend some time exploring. Please come and find out just how much we have to offer.

The Smiling Faces of Tamworth, Ontario
It has been my pleasure to experience the smiling faces of Tamworth, Ontario for the past 25 years and now I am delighted to share many of those smiling faces with you.
Originally established in 1826, Tamworth is a charming village steeped in the history and the hard work of past generations, mostly Irish immigrants, who laboured to create a life here.
Today, Tamworth is a mix of farms, homes and waterfront cottages on nearby Beaver Lake and White Lake. Located at the edge of the Canadian Shield, this area boasts some of the finest water front and unspoiled wilderness you will find anywhere. The village itself includes all the services you would expect to find in the city. Churches, a busy hockey arena, restaurants, hardware store, grocery store, pharmacy, liquor store, library, book store, artisan gallery, antique and collectibles stores, AirBnB accommodations and many other amenities. Tamworth is a great place to spend some time relaxing and exploring. Perfect for a week away or a casual day trip. Please come visit and find out just how much Tamworth has to offer, why it has so many smiling faces and why I love it so much.

When in Tamworth, visit the Book Shop
One spot that was highly recommended to visit when in Tamworth was the local Book Shop. Being an avid reader, I of course had to go check it out. I have to admit, as much as I enjoy sipping my latte and reading at the local Chapters, visiting the Book Shop was an experience that I will likely never forget . The adventure begins as you walk across a quaint walkway that leads to the door of a building that resembles more of an old school house than a store. Once inside, its hard not to notice the walls covered with books from all genres and all generations (for Canadian author enthusiasts, they have an entire wall dedicated to Canadian literature). You can peruse through books at your leisure at the upstairs lounge area which likely resembles and is as comfortable as the lounge area you have at home. To add to this experience, is the personalized service the owners provide intertwined with their passion and knowledge for all that is literature. Finally, the adventure is complete with the purchase of a book (and they do accept VISA) as now not only do you have a book that you love but also a story behind where you purchased the book.

Ontario bed and breakfast Lavender Cottage is a hidden gem amongst custom built homes. Set back from the street and privately tucked away, it's like a little paradise. Walk through the lovely perennial garden paths, enjoy the waterfall pond or swim in the luxurious inground pool. Work and live here and relax.
