KOH SAMUI | SHERATON SAMUI | Honeymoon Destinations - Serene Beauty | Chaweng Beach | Thailand
Koh Samui (Samui Island) is a cosmopolitan melting pot, attracting budget travelers staying for a month or two in simple beachside bungalows, to the wealthiest holidaymakers dropping in for a weekend at one of the many luxury resorts or villa on the many white sand beaches of Koh Samui. From the hustle and bustle of Chaweng Beach to the lively yet relaxed atmosphere of Lamai Beach to the timeless feel of Bophut's Fisherman's Village to the tropical beach paradise of Maenam, Koh Samui is unique among Thailand's islands in maintaining a broad appeal for everyone. This helps to give the distinctive relaxed atmosphere that sets it apart. Not convinced yet? See our video above.
Sheraton Samui Description
Boasting a tennis court and a courtyard, and looking out onto the bay, Sheraton Samui Resort features luxury rooms and a secluded setting. The hotel offers quiet accommodation in a Mediterranean-style building, opened in 2009.
Located near Jungle Club Samui, this hotel is just a 20-minute drive away from Big Buddha. Wonderful sandy beaches and leisure places such as bars, restaurants, and a stadium are within easy reach of the property.
A cove and a landscaped garden are within easy walking distance.
The rooms of this hotel come with LCD TV set, a kitchenette, and a stone fireplace. Sheraton Samui Resort offers a great view to its guests. There is an en-suite bathroom with a roll in shower, a spa bathtub and terry dressing gowns in every unit.
A sumptuous breakfast is served each morning. The garden restaurant serves dishes of Asian cuisine. Refreshing drinks are offered in the snack bar. Serving a selection of food Twisted Thai and Spirit House Restaurant are placed a 5-minute walk away.
Koh Samui airport is roughly 5 km away.
The hotel has a sunbathing terrace, deckchairs, and a swimming pool, moreover, guests can enjoy a spa area, a treatment room, and a sauna. There are a gym area and a fitness center provided at Sheraton Samui Resort.
Chaweng Beach Experience
Chaweng is the largest and most popular of Samui's beaches and is usually divided into four sections: North Chaweng, Central Chaweng, South Chaweng and Chaweng Noi (Little Chaweng) which is around a headland and at the southernmost tip of Chaweng. Chaweng Beach is approximately 7 km long, making it the longest beach on the east coast. It is lined with coconut trees and boasts year long, warm (temperatures range between 25-28°C.). The ocean brings a lot of debris on the Chaweng Beach and while most of it is natural, it still makes the beach look dirty. The beach tends to have bigger waves and stronger currents than most of the other beaches of Thailand. Visibility in the water is very poor.
Chaweng offers an incredibly broad range of accommodation, ranging in price from as little as 400 baht per night for basic fan rooms and shared facilities, premium resorts charging up to 20,000 baht per night and 5-star villas at 70,000 per night. Eating in Koh Samui is equally diverse, starting from the street food costing 40 baht per meal to some world-class restaurants with International chefs and standards where a 3-course meal will cost and taste the same as in the best restaurants in any leading capital city in the world.
This diverse offering obviously attracts a diverse range of travelers, from your young hippie backpackers, international school and university students, sports teams, singles, couples, honeymooners, wedding parties and families. However, at any given time there are very few Thai tourists in Chaweng.
The views from Chaweng Beach include two small islands, near the natural reef, that you can walk to and explore at low tide.
Chaweng at dusk
The central part of Chaweng is far more crowded than the quieter south and attracts the younger up for it party travelers. If music and activity is not your scene, this area can be avoided.
While on the beach, many vendors will stop and offer beverages, fruit, ice cream and local Thai food cooked on small portable BBQ's. These vendors are polite if you do not want anything, a simple no thank you will see them on their way. A variety of local crafts and Thai souvenirs are also available.
The main road, runs parallel to the beach and from south to north is occupied by the ubiquitous convenience stores and restaurants, bars, resorts, hotels, tailors, clothing, accessory, pharmacies, massage, spa, souvenir, and fast-food shops. The sidewalks are very narrow and full of signs that you can easily bump your head on. Similar to the lowest quality side-walks that you can find in Bangkok. Trash can be seen and smelled everywhere. Unlike elsewhere in Thailand, be prepared to be offered a lot of flyers, hear a lot of advertisements through speakers of pickup trucks that pass by constantly and for every tailor shop's and restaurant's immigrant worker to ask you to come inside.

Passa Restaurant Samui - Fine dining at Khwan Beach Resort
The savoir-faire of Chef Bart Van Dyck meets the unique concept of Khwan Beach Resort | Koh Samui | Maenam beach | Thailand
Khwan Beach Resort and its fine dining restaurant have appointed Bart Van Dyck as the new Executive Chef.
Born and raised in Antwerpen, the Flemish part of Belgium and surrounded by Michelin starred ranked restaurants, his passion for cooking developed at a very young age, shaping his professional destiny: to become a Chef.
“Cooking is all I ever wanted to do as food played an important role in my family,” Chef said. “Food has taken me in so many places around the world, opened my senses and taught me more than I could imagine. I am excited to carry the hotel’s legacy started by its visionary owner Patrick Nouvel, working with an experienced culinary team, mixologist, sommelier and executive team to shape new horizons for years to come at Passa.”
With experience built in renowned restaurants like “The Auberge d’Alsace” in Bouillon followed by working with Michelin star rated Chefs such as at the Restaurant De Pastorale. Located in Reet, run by Chef Bart de Poortere. In 2014, he worked for Thierry They’s Restaurant Nuance in Duffel, the youngest two Michelin-starred from Belgium. Then Chef Bart joined the Compass Group –Exxon Mobil Brussel as an Executive Chef to develop the fine dining room of the Executive Board. Prior to joining us and since May 2016, Chef Bart was leading the culinary direction of former renowned restaurant Mathis café in Mae Nam
“At Passa Restaurant, with my knowledge and experience, I am trying to present dishes with exceptional quality working closely with local farmers and suppliers to seek out the finest local products. My style is simply innovative and classical, using French cuisine adding Thai local ingredients to create Fusion in the dishes.”
His passion and expertise encompasses all aspects of a dining experience that has charmed guests of Passa Koh Samui. Since he joined the resort, he is mentoring his team growing their skills and talents, embracing their creative nature; ultimately shaping his vision for the future of the culinary team.
“Bart is a leader and an exceptional chef, just the right ingredients to build upon the wonderful foundation forged since the opening of the resort over 2 years ago,” said Roger Godin, Managing Director of Asian Resorts Collection. “I have no doubt that our guests will marvel at his creativity, a trademark we search for in our culinary leadership on the island of Koh Samui, and inspire his team to create exceptional dining experiences.”
When Chef Bart is away from composing on Passa's piano or finding the right ingredients on the local markets, he finds himself well balanced by reconnecting with the nature, swimming in hidden spots of Koh Samui but also getting energised by jetskyiing

EXPLORING KHO SAMUI
.........................................
Whether you're sun-seeking, dozing in a hammock, feasting on world-class cuisine, beach partying or discovering wellness in an exclusive spa, Ko Samui has it covered.
ON THE BEACH
..........................
The kiss of sun on tanned skin, the deep azure of the sky and the gentle lapping of warm waves on satin sands are ideal ingredients for the perfect retreat. Ko Samui’s beaches are a diverse bunch to boot: roll up your beach towel and see what you can find. Make it Coco Tam’s in Fisherman’s village for cocktails and serious chillaxing, Chaweng Beach for sunrise and people-watching, lengthy Mae Nam Beach for peace, or napping under a coconut tree before giving in to a west coast sunset across seas shimmering with bronze.
Food, Food, more Food
Deftly paired with the island’s seductive sands, dining is Samui’s other top indulgence. From the simplest of Thai dishes to scorching regional curries and plates hopping with flavour on seaside tables, you’re spoiled for choice. Don’t overlook more anonymous places, the best meals can await in faceless roadside shacks where locals saunter in. The island is stuffed with kôw gang (rice and curry) shops, often a flimsy wooden shack serving southern Thai–style curries. Follow locals to the food markets for more pointers, but if you need atmosphere, it’s hard to miss: romantic, sunset-flecked dinners can be the holiday moment.
Mind, Body, Spirit
Add some full-on pampering to the leisurely mix. People come here to see other people looking good and to look good too, with a pinch of mindfulness thrown in for massaging the soul. Cleansing fasts, yoga, tai-chi, herbal steam treatments and chakra-balancing restore equilibrium to out-of-kilter systems, with flexible arrangements for those who pitch up with the best of intentions, but remember they're on holiday. And for those who just want to ease away the aches and pains of lying on the beach, Ko Samui’s spas can ease them to the next level of serenity.

Find out more about attractions in Thailand on:
Baita - Bangmakham beach (best restaurant Nth Koh Samui)
If you are staying near Bang Por or Nathon, Koh Samui - then be sure to visit Baita restaurant.
We try to visit around sunset, because the north end of the island really gets the best vantage point - especially with the 'five islands' in the distance. Sunset cocktails at Baita are a must.
The owner is Thai/Italian, so you have a wonderful choice of delicious Thai, as well as some epic pasta - at a great price.
