Willamalane Park and Recreation District in Springfield, Oregon maintains and operates seven recreation facilities and 34 parks and open spaces that make up more than 700 acres.
Highlights include Splash! at Lively Park, Camp Putt Adventure Golf Park, Wildish Community Theater, nine waterfront areas, 11 miles of hiking and biking trails, 19 sports fields and 21 playgrounds.
Willamalane offers hundreds of recreation programs to more than 60,000 patrons.

Willamalane to Buy Regional Sports Center
Willamalane is buying the 72,600-square-foot Regional Sports Center, one of the largest of its kind in the Northwest. It is connected to Willamalane's 24,500-square-foot Community Recreation Center. The acquisition will allow Willamalane to offer more sports and recreation programs at a significant savings to the district, said Bob Keefer, Willamalane superintendent.

2012 Turkey Stuffer Promo with Springs the Squirrel
Registration is now under way for the 31st annual Turkey Stuffer 5K run/walk presented by Willamalane Park and Recreation District on Thanksgiving Day.
The traditional family event draws hundreds of runners and walkers every year. It is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 22, at Lively Park, 6100 Thurston Road in Springfield. The flat course loops through quiet residential neighborhoods. The race ends at Splash! at Lively Park.
Unlike previous years, this year there will be no day-of-race registration or day-of packet pickup.
People can register in advance online at willamalane.org or at any Willamalane facility. Race fees are available at willamalane.org. Race registration for kids 14 and under is free.
Online registration ends at 5 p.m. Monday, Nov. 19. In-person registration and packet pickup are available Tuesday, Nov. 20, from 12 to 8 p.m. and on Wednesday, Nov. 21, from 12 to 7 p.m. at Willamalane Center, 250 S. 32nd St., Springfield.
Packets must be picked up by 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21. Packets will include a race bib and an electronic chip used for precise timing. Time is based on gun time.
Proceeds help fund Willamalane's free summer playground program, which serves more than 1,000 kids. Last year's 1,800 Turkey Stuffer participants made it possible for 100 children to attend the program.
2013 Turkey Stuffer 5K Run/Walk
Willamalane's annual Turkey Stuffer 5K run/walk is set Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 28, at 8:30 a.m. It happens at Splash! at Lively Park.
Here's what you need to know:
Adult: $15 for the run only, $25 for the run and a long-sleeved tech shirt
Youth up to age 14: Free for run only; $10 with a long-sleeved tech shirt
This 5K run/walk loops through a quiet residential neighborhood. Entire families have been known to join in this all-ages community event, a benefit for Willamalane's free Summer Playground Program for kids.
After the race, spend some time playing in the waves at Splash! at Lively Park from 9 to 11:30 a.m. at no additional charge. An awards ceremony will be held following the race.
SORRY, NO DOGS ALLOWED.
Please do not register children in strollers (they will not need a bib number). Deadline for those wanting a T-shirt is Nov. 19. Packet pickup is Tuesday, Nov. 26, and Wednesday, Nov. 27, at Willamalane Center. No day-of registration. Note: Tech shirts tend to run a little large. Youth T-shirts are 100 percent cotton.
'Two50,' Willamalane's new youth center, on KVAL-TV
Two50 is the new youth center for students attending middle school in Springfield.
It has new furniture, new games and a larger-than-life gaming experience. Students can enjoy multiple 3-D high-definition televisions and gaming consoles that will impress even the most seasoned gamer.
Not into video games? Spend some time on the new indoor sports courts or scaling the climbing or boulder walls.
Membership to Two50 is free. Parents must register students, and participants must have a membership card.
Two50 opens Wednesday and runs from 3:10 p.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.
